Back to square one. Let myself down over summer.

I joined MFP earlier this year and made a huge effort to work hard at losing weight. I was championing the site to friends and family telling them it was the best motivational support to keep losing weight. And then somewhere it all went wrong - my will power for food is not great - I started a new job and had a lot of new stresses in my life. My comfort was bad food. I had lost a total of 14lb which I know is not a huge amount compared to some of the success stories we read on here but to me it was a good achievement and about halfway to where i wanted to be. I remember going to my job interview in my cool new suit that i looked great in. Everybody complimented me and how good shape i was in and it felt great!!
Well today, those 14lb are back on my stomach and those suit trousers no longer fit. It's amazing just how 1 stone (14lb) can make you feel so different. I think I just need to get these feelings off my chest and basically just hear your voice to give me the encouragement to turn myself back around.

I had lost a total of 22lbs by the begiining of June through excercise and using this site. I got an hamstring which limited my options (prefer running), plans for doing a half marathon went out the window due to changes in job location.
I completed the half marathon about 4 weeks ago and did very little excercise since then (I did the same time but had to walk for part of the way!), however it was demotivating. In the period from June, I have put on 14lbs and feeling worse for it. I am starting to notice the weight goign back on the gut.
The food and excercise diary are a must, I stopped using it and took my eye off my goals.
I have been doing a lot of talking about "getting back into it" but taking no action. So on Monday, I did 30 laps of a small pool (500m in total / 30 mins) and Tuesday, I did 38 mins running to do a 5km, my slowest time in over a year.
I have reset my goals (Initially more modest than before) and have entered a 10km race/fun run at the end of November, which gives me about 6 weeks to get up to speed. That in itself, will provide motivation.
I know it is easy to say and sometimes difficult to do, but you need to get "back on the wagon", remember why you wanted to lose weight in the first place and keep moving forward. Everyone will encourage you and keep checking back in.0 -
we all have slips sometimes, but the great thing is that you have realized it and are back on track. i have been thru the same. I had done so good, was getting compliments, enjoying running but then I sprung my right ankle, and broke my left foot. Couldn't do anything. I decided to stop logging my food, gave up on my personal trainer, and turned to Lays Potato chips, and Pepsi which made me gain back the 12lbs I had worked so hard to lose. I am proud of you for getting back in there. I wish you all the best0

No one is perfect. You've recognised the weight gain and your own part in it and that is a huge step! Those 14lbs will still be off again and we're all here to support you along the way xxx0

You're never to old or too far gone to start again from scratch. When you reach your goal this will have just been a little blip, keep pushing x0

Thanks so much for your positive comments guys. It means a lot. My new job has me based 70% of the time in a car instead of on foot on a shop floor so I need to work harder and especially get back into my gym to make this work. The last month I have gone to the gym a few times but gone straight to the pool and completely ignored the gym equipment. My personal goal would be to get that 14lb back off by Christmas.0

You can feel GREAT about yourself, today, EXACTLY as you are. LOVE yourself every step of the process. Don't save feeling great about yourself for some future date when you're back in those pants. Do not wait for compliments from others to lift you up. You deserve to feel amazing right now.
Feel good from the inside and the rest will fall into place.
