My denomination doesn't celebrate Lent so I have never heard of the Lenten fast before. It sounds very difficult, but also like an experience that would mean more to me (if I did it) than other giving-up-for-Lent goals I've heard of. I hope it goes well for you!

It's the calories. Nutrition is important, but weight loss is sheer calories in-calories out.

My mom's group had a for-fun weight loss challenge that started Jan 1st and went for 8 weeks. I was the only one who counted calories (goal of 1500 + some exercise eaten back) and I lost 8.2% for a win. All the participants lost some weight but 2nd place was at 6% and the majority, who simply added daily activity and went…

I don't know that it's necessarily a milkshake type drink, as there's only one or two ounces of creamer added to the cup of coffee. Unless it's a latte, which has loads of milk whipped with the espresso and is delicious. I could see freezing a latte and calling it a milkshake. That being said I use sugar free vanilla…

Also as an active 5'4, 28 year old at 135 pounds: You're at a normal weight BMI and it's going to take a lot of time to take off any fat. According to the TDEE calculator I use, it appears you could eat another ~200 calories a day and still lose weight. Slow and steady is the key on so-called vanity pounds. Maintain as…

Ok and height and age?

What are your stats? Height weight etc?

Does cannabis have carbs? What if it was consumed in a brownie by a human, and then the human was eaten by a cannibal? Would the cannibal gain from the indirect cannabis brownie carbs?

I was losing too quickly and when I got a food scale I found out why. I was really overestimating how much I was eating! But if it doesn't even out in a week or two you can revisit your goal to aim a little higher.

Last few days were great, 10 cups easy.

50 lbs in a year is more realistic, sorry. I made a 2 year plan chart to lose 90 pounds. So far, so good as I get to check off my goals. Not just weight lost but NSVs too. It's a great visual motivation. Dietbet is also keeping me from getting discouraged, but it's not for everyone.

If you don't mind eating the same thing every day, build a menu that matches your calorie counting goal. Check your nutrients. Eat that menu every day. But if you are training yourself to never need a diet again, that won't work. BTDT and I have the Tshirt. It's a very short term solution. You're going to have to make…

If she's maintaining, she's maintaining. Seems accurate if she's living an active lifestyle.

If I want sweet it's this: 140 calories, 6 G protein, 6 G Fat, 17 G carbs, 5 G fiber. Love them.

Try setting your goal to maintenance and just get in the habit of measuring and logging. In a few weeks you can cut 100-250 calories from maintenance and see how it goes. Nothing says you have to do it all at once.

I love the daily data. Really has helped take away my obsession actually, I don't worry about it as much as I did on a weekly weigh. I do put mine into MFP daily, but not everyone does.

It's not all right.

My DH and I have been married 12 years. One of the compromises we've made is that we don't always eat the same meals or snacks...and that's OK. I don't accuse him of sabotage when he's eating a can of Pringles. He doesn't accuse me either when I sit down with Reese's Pieces I budgeted for. If one of us doesn't like what…

Different people have different reactions to different BC. I've had to go through a few to find what was most beneficial to me.

My experience too.

First make sure your goal is right. I'm sedentary, my job doesn't involve loads of walking and I lose on 1500 a day, and a tiny percentage of exercise calories on random workouts. I don't know your stats but you might look into your numbers. As for filling, I've found eating heavy protein in the morning and then low cal…

I have a Pomchi who is happy to sit around, but if I'm going he better go too. Also have two chihuahuas who hide under furniture to get out of walks. And a heeler mix who would walk all day if we let her. So yeah it depends on the dog.

I just count calories. For health I walk as often as possible (2 miles to work) and I move a lot at work (including lifting heavy things) but really I want my activity to be a lifestyle rather than a gym hobby. But, that all has less to do with my weight loss, the kitchen is where my loss is being created.

Happy to say my count was 12 cups yesterday and 10 cups today. Getting easier!
-
True for me too! I took a business trip last month and lost weight because I pre-prepped my meals and only ate when I was hungry instead of when the family wanted to eat.
-
No; I've drank twice in the last year+, I used to have 2-3 every weekend. I also have teetotaling relatives who have never consumed alcohol and carry extra pounds. They got their calories somewhere else.

For me it's summer because of all the fresh farmer's market produce, the longer daylight hours mean more outdoor activity, and the parks are open. Winter I don't want to fall on ice, everything closes early or is closed for the season, and Christmas candy beckons.

I would suggest building your deficit by moving more rather than eating less. ETA: Still eat a deficit like 1400, but by doing more movement through the day you'll build a similar deficit to "lightly active" instead of "sedentary".
