I know what you mean, and you are essentially correct but calories = energy, and when you cook something, you are exciting the particles and losing energy in the system. The amount of calories is really trivial, and I didn't mean to imply that it was a big deal but it's just not possible to cook food and for it not to lose…

I don't think that is necessarily true, but it's a complex issue. Long story short, I would log everything as "raw". I'm not an authority by any means, so take this with a grain of salt but this is my reasoning: To determine the amount of calories something has you put it in a bomb calorimeter - this is a container where…

If you're really only having 1 margarita once a week, I would keep on doing it. 1.5oz of tequila is about 100 calories, the triple sec is about 75cal for 1/2oz - if you put lime juice it's like 10 cal for a splash, if you use sour mix it's about 30 cal. Sugar on rim is about 20 calories extra. So total is around 225…

Start now! Not tomorrow, right now. Just put yourself in the mindset that this very minute you are making the decision to change your life :) I started in April. I was almost exactly where you were. 202lbs, 38 inch waist.. as of right now I'm 183 and 34 inch waist. That's in 2 months - you can definitely reach your goal by…

#2 and #3 are both true for me, and I'm sure these are major reasons for a lot of other people who have their diaries hidden. #3 especially. Yesterday, I went on a crazy booze bender and ate complete **** food (and lots of it). I didn't want to log it because I didn't want my friends to see. I ended up logging it anyway…

How eloquently put! I'm with this guy. I probably wouldn't worry about calories. I'd track just to keep myself accountable and not get out of the habit. I was in so much pain afterwards that I didn't hardly eat, and what I did was jello or ice cream. I ended up having lock jaw for about a month afterwards (could only open…

When I feel like giving up, and it's hard and I want "x" result *now* I just have to remind myself that it took a long time to get fat and out of shape and it's gonna take just as long to lose the fat and get in shape. I know that can be discouraging to some people, but to me I see it as a more realistic and attainable…

I have the same problem. I mean, I can look at my old pictures and tell I look thinner but at that time I felt like Jabba the Hutt - so it wasn't really any leap to let myself get fatter. The hard part is going to be seeing yourself as you really are and being comfortable in your skin. I don't have a whole lot of…

I am so sick (and frankly pissed off) with all the added sugar and salt in EVERYTHING that's packaged that I am just boycotting eating anything I don't make myself. I don't like doing it, and I'm lazy, but I have enough time in the day to make my own foods so I just think of it as a requirement. I know it's probably not…

Fruit is nature's candy! I am a very picky eater, and I honestly hate trying new things as far as food goes. But I decided if I don't try it, I'll never really know what I like and what I hate. There has to be more than 2 vegetables and 3 fruits that I liked. Something I've been doing for a little while now that maybe you…

This one is great! It flatters your physique - it's very feminine and it fits you so much better.

I use http://pixlr.com/editor/ when I need to edit images. It's like a web-based photoshop. Once you open your image, go to "image" then "image size" to change the size. You can also crop the picture by using the dotted-rectangle looking tool on the left hand side. Highlight the area you want to keep and then go to "image"…

Do we have to eat *full* bugs? or can the bug parts found in most foods count? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Food_Defect_Action_Levels

I never thought to do this, I like this idea :) I feel like the last 5 minutes of anything kill me; maybe I'll adopt your imagined trainer :D

I wonder is she even realizes the reason? I know my friend thinks she is working out all the time (sure, by comparison to doing nothing ever it 2 or 3 days a week is a huge increase) and I'm making more progress (according to her) because I used to be in shape and I have good genes or something. Do you ever say anything,…

I was keeping track in a book too, but it was like as soon as I decided to start logging stuff I stopped eating those extra snacks and chose the lite beer over the double-screwdriver! I am interested to find out about permanent damage to metabolisms too (if anyone knows some studies, not just bro-science please feel free…

I was also having problems eating normally. When I was a teenager I felt like the only thing I could control in my chaotic screwed up life was my physical appearance and I ended up developing an eating disorder. I'm also trying to find a nice balance between eating good healthy food, exercising reasonably, and not becoming…

I just wanted to share a couple of things I did to help combat that hunger feeling. I was eating quite often because I felt hungry all the time, even if I just ate a half an hour earlier. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this, and it's probably not the healthiest thing in the world, but it worked to adjust my appetite. I…

I want to not feel like an alien in my body. About a month ago I had this overwhelming urge to buy a cute frilly dress. I am a rather tomboyish lady, so this was a big deal for me. I went with a friend of mine and we picked out a ton of adorable stuff. When I went to try it on, there was an all around mirror. I was…

I feel like the angle differences and lighting make it hard to get an accurate comparison. It seems like from the side shot that you've lost some fat from the upper part of your belly right under your boobs - and from the front shot it looks like your belly is a little less round. But again, it's really hard to tell…

I *love* tuna and avocado, I thought it was just me. No need for mayo, quick & easy too!

Just had to share ... my brother has Aspergers too and is also a picky eater. My mom would blend up vegetables into his mac & cheese, or sneak them in wherever she could. My absolute favorite - she told him banana's were just white hot dogs! He loved them after that :)
