I get some minor weightloss too, definitely not the bloating and weight gain most women get. Usually I'll just have a stable weight and then a few weeks later the number will start creeping down again. Some of us are just lucky I suppose ;)

For fast food, I will almost always just order from the kids menu. The portions are about right for an adult. Example: Cheeseburger happy meal with coke = 510 calories. I usually opt for diet coke or water though, which is 410 calories for the meal. Plus you get a toy! Just because you eat fast food doesn't mean you have…

I can't believe I hadn't thought to measure the jar of peanut butter to get the weight! I've been putting my bread on the scale, spreading on the peanut butter -- then very morosely and dejectedly NOT licking the knife :'( cbowman1114: an example on how to measure the banana you log as 100 grams. Weight your banana - if it…

First, congratulations on all your hard work! I just wanted to mention, if you go to a thrift store you can get some pretty cheap transition clothes while you're on your way towards your goal :) For me, having baggy clothes was nice for a while, but then getting clothes that fit better really boosted my motivation and self…

for real! that is a HUGE jump between 40% and 50%

3 pounds in 2 months is not a lot unless you have very little to lose. How close are you to your goal? I average about half a pound a week. I'm sure you've heard it before, but it's not linear. Some weeks you'll have no loses, and some you'll have more but it should average to whatever MFP states weekly. If the last 2…

I'm about the same height & weight (5'4" - 161lb atm) and my weight loss is going at about the same pace as yours. Here's what mine looks like over the same time period as yours. 165 at the start of the month, low was today at 161, but I will not be at all surprised if it jumps up to 163+ tomorrow. I know it's frustrating…

I am a picky eater, and I hate trying new things. But I do anyway, because my diet was ridiculously restrictive. Example: I hated tomatoes, never ate them. In reality, I had never had a tomato - I had bits in food and that was it. So I bought a couple tomatoes and cooked it up several different ways. I tried it raw (which…

The quality of of your calories isn't that big of a factor - it's a big factor for health, but not for weight loss. you can lose weight by eating what you normally eat - just eat LESS of it. and you don't NEED to exercise to lose weight either. exercise is great for health, it's great to get moving but you don't HAVE to…

Give it time! In the scheme of things, 10 days is not a lot to notice any significant weight loss. Look at my last month: If you take it out of context and just focus on a crappy 10 day window this is what you see: My high was around 166, my low was around 162 - but it's bouncing up and down all through there. It's easy to…

Beautiful. Done. End of thread! As far as urges go, I have huge problems with impulse control - this may seem obvious but it really took a long time for me to actually "get" but urges come and go and you don't have to act on them. Seriously, I'm not being snarky. I think writing down your urges and acknowledging them is a…

Try not to look at it as a failure on your part. You ARE making progress. It's probably slower than you like, but you have sustained it for a year! That's pretty fantastic in my book. Are you weighing and measuring all of your food? Are you accounting for everything (a teaspoon of sugar here, a dollop of sour cream there…

Your question absolutely astounds me. You want him to be healthier (and quit smoking) but you want to lose weight quickly and unhealthily? If your goal is to improve both yours and his health, then you should take it slow and address the issues that you have. You know you binge, you know you drink too much. Don't use, "I…

I'm currently a cake decorator... surrounded by delicious delicious cakes and brownies and tarts and cookies and cheesecake and a puddle of my own tears.

It fits you really well and flatters your figure. If I were you, I would keep it. A little black dress like that is always nice to have around :)

Just be consistent with the scale you use. The scale in my doctors office is different than mine, which is different than the gyms, which is different than my friends. I don't care *too* much what my weight is, only that it's going down on my scale. So just pick a scale and use that one to compare your weigh ins :) And be…

Scoops like that come in all different sizes, so it's not really easy to say. Plus there is nothing next to it to give a size relationship. It could be like anywhere from 1/4 to 2 cups. If I were logging it, and didn't have access to a scale or I didn't make the meal I would probably just rough guess on the high side (1.5…

I highly recommend taking one day a week (mine is Sunday) to prepare some quick easy meals. I make crock-pot something-or-other, burritos, divvy up snacks into portion sizes - that way when I'm hungry *now* and cranky and tempted to eat fast food I can't justify it with my laziness because I already have food ready to go.…

That's tough! I also have a bit of a problem with drinking - I would drink 4 or 5 a night most nights. Usually it would just be, "i'm going to have 1 to wind down" and then by the time I had 1, i'd talk myself into 2 and then my impulse control is out the window. The way I managed to stop is therapy to address my anxiety…

You can definitely get a job while still in high school.. I had 2, one for after school and a different one for weekends. As far as things to do, volunteer work always looks really good on your resume or for colleges. You can volunteer at an animal shelter or old folks home. Reading, drawing, painting .. crafty stuff is…

You're just starting out, right? Don't be too hard on yourself, it takes time to make long term habit changes. You are logging your food and exercise every day, right? Just by doing that you are making yourself aware and more conscious about your choices. My first month was a reality check for me: how much I way over shot…

You bring up a point that the nerd in me finds fascinating - from the admittedly little I've read it appears cooking does change the calories of food - not in a defying-the-laws-of-thermodynamics kind of way, but cooked food allows our body to access more of the energies stores in food. Here are a couple of articles I…

I really really thought I could name all the states in the correct places. Turns out I don't know jack about New England. For anyone interested in trying a lil US geography quiz: http://www.lizardpoint.com/geography/usa-quiz.php?type=randmenu I scored 145/150, and I pretty much guessed on CT, DE, RI & MA

Are you eating enough during the day and drinking enough water? It's completely anecdotal, but the only time I ever binge is when I don't have satisfying meals during the day. I find that meat (for me hamburger and steak) really make me feel satisfied and full. I also eat a ridiculous amount of broccoli and baby carrots,…

From your other posts you said, then you said, So you're basing all of this off of the 1 day you took off and ate more than you usually would? Firstly, if you gained weight that one day it was not fat. It's water weight, the physical weight of your food and all that jazz. To gain 1kg of pure fat, you'd have to eat like…

When I was doing the low carb thing (which I stopped because it just wasn't the right path for me) I was doing a metric crapload of vegetables and meats. Yes, mostly avoiding fruit, but if I was really craving something sweet and fruity I'd eat raspberries and a few strawberries - they're pretty low carb as far as fruit…

I measure my neck, arm, chest, waist, hips, thighs and calves. I personally don't think it's a big deal where I measure, so long as I'm consistent. I am covered in freckles so I use them a lot to keep consistent lol - If I'm in doubt, or there was a big jump in measurements between weeks then I'll takes 3 measurements and…

The calorie count is about as accurate as you let them be. You have to make sure you weight and measure your food. If you're eating a TV dinner, then it's already pre-measured and you can just enter it in that way - but if you're making mashed potatoes or making something, you gotta make sure you know how much you're…

I think just about everybody has stretch marks - good news, they fade A LOT in time :D I have those bright-red/purple ones on my stomach still, the ones on my love handles are white and the ones on my thighs and boobs (from about 10 years ago) are hardly even visible. I don't think those creams work - if they did,…
