Watch out for the deception from our friend the pizza maker. Trust me, I can eat me some pizza, give me a day and I can down a whole pie for breakfast, lunch and dinner :-) But, they just list the calories, which is good for them since it doesn't seem like that much. I did some calculations from this site…

Just got done watching. GRRR. I couldn't believe that Jessica got that last flag. Was sad to see Allie go since she had the highest percentage of fat of all the contestants. But man, Jessica reminds me of one of my sister-in-laws, just don't like her attitude. But hey, that's what reality TV is all about, they want the…

Wyoming...38th, unchanged from last year. Could have fooled me with as many larger people I see walking around, I thought we'd be ranked higher.

I posted a thread about this same thing. If you have a minute, check it out. Calories burned by strength training will be mnimal at best, probably in the ballpark of 1.5-2.5 Calories per minute. Unless you are doing circuit training on machines with little to no rest. Again, something not studied in depth and not well…

Paraphrased from Achten and Jeukendrup (2004)... from http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2885974/ from this thread...http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/121565-exercise-does-not-increase-24-hr-fat-oxidation "It is well-established that whole body fat oxidation increases with exercise intensity up to ~55-65% of…

Supersize me, what a great documentary. Really opens your eyes to what a diet of nothing but fast food can do to you. On the other hand, I take a lot of documentarys with a grain of salt. They film 400-800 hours of worth of information and have to condense it all into 90 minutes or so. Its really easy to cherry pick the…

My doc started me on the albuterol, whenever I needed it. And since I sometimes forget it at home and generally did not like using it all the time I asked him if there were anything longer acting. So he put me on formoterol (Foradil) and mometasone (Asmanex). I take those two twice a day and the albuterol whenever I need…

No, not you GiGi, I was referring to the entertainment everyone else on this thread has been providing me :-)

Wow, haven't seen a flame thread this good in weeks, I thought only gamer threads got this heated. /popcorn

I wing it. Generally I'll have a plan for certain days (cardio, upper body, lower body, etc.), but then sometimes life derails that plan. Today I had "planned" 30 min cardio and some upper body calisthenics. But a couple days ago my buddy called with free tickets to a local Monte Carlo night for charity. So it looks like…

Good question Super. please reference this topic http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/121565-exercise-does-not-increase-24-hr-fat-oxidation to see that there is negligible fat oxidation during recovery.

Azdak and Musclebuilder, couldn't agree with you guys more. There is so much research out the, both positive and negative that these authors can cherry pick the best snippets of bad research to scare people int their beliefs. Remember the Saccharine studies form the 1970s? Dose rats up with 1,000x a normal dose for 30 days…

It depends on which medications your doctor put you on for the ADD. Adderall is dextroamphetamine and Vyvanse is dextroamphetamine coupled with L-lysine amino acid. Amphetamine is a stimulant, so its going to keep you wired for a bit and it'll suppress your appetite as well. If you are on Methylphenidate (clexa, ritalin),…

Agreed that the internet will have tons of varying views (e.g. no sugar period, sugar as long as it's natural, etc.). Sugar is very hard to avoid, period. It is in a TON of stuff. I ate a bunch of broccoli and that had 10 grams of sugar, raw! So yesterday I only ate 1/2 a bunch so I didn't go over my sugar for the day,…

How much fast food I ate, IN A DAY! I think with the way I want to be permanently when I reach my goal all the food I used to eat in a day should probably have been spread out over the course of a month! I was turning treats into staples, and the staples became burdens and untasty. Now its the other way around, but I…

There are pros and cons to a lot of things. As most people welcoming you have said. You have probably read all there is to know on the subject. My friend's soon to be ex wife had it done a couple years ago. She was about 320 when she got it and I think now she's about 160. The problem I thin kis it comes off pretty fast,…

WHen I finally got to the end as was watching the mini clips of the season I heard Jillian say something along the lines of adding more competetors, about 700 pounds worth. Some of the people that didn't make it were over 400#, and nobody seemed to be under 220. I think they'll add either 2 or 3 of the people that didn't…

According to Grandjean, et al (2000) "There were no significant effects on any of the variables by which hydration was judged.1 The authors concluded that "advising…

Since I don't have satellite I have to catch it on the internet. I just saw detroit. I feel sorry for the one person that didn't make it to the campus. Very emoitional for those people. Hopefully they'll keep tabs on them and see if they lost throughout the season.

You might get the "muscle weighs more than fat" crowd and the others that say you are gaining muscle and that's why you are weighing more. Others will say use a tape measure and ditch the scale. All good advice. If you are part of a club or a gym I'm sure the front desk staff would give you a free skin fold test to measure…

I haven't had regular soda in about 9 days. Still want it and will go back to it eventually. I've been to countries where the water isn't safe to drink, so soda was your ONLY option, so I got used to it back then and view it as sort of a lifesaving buddy from back in the war. The choice is all yours.

I think she meant 3 circuits of running 5 minutes long with 2 minutes of walking in between. I too will agree with some of the other posters that said 5 minutes may be too long for a first timer. Unless the person can measure or know's their 50-60% HR max for light jogging they may do too much too soon. Somebody would def.…

First, gratz on finishing up law school! A lot of the firends I had when I was in the AF were JAGs. Keep the goal in site. DOn't focus on the 70, instead break it up and focus on the smaller goals, and soon you'll see that you'll get there in less time than you thought it would take! Keep us posted and if you get the…

.
It's similar to doing several squats. Wiggle your toes every once in a while, and slightly move your feet on the "pad" or whatever you put your foot on, and they shouldn't fall asleep. Make sure you're keeping your core & glutes flexed and back straight
OK. I'll try this out the next time I'm around of…

That was a good read. I'm going to bookmark that for future reference. Its interesting to see that one can't get a great workout in and then cruise on the "fat burn" the rest of the day. Perhaps I missed it as it is a long read, or maybe they didn't add it, but I'm wondering how quickly the body returns the fat oxidation…

If you have a smart phone (I have an andriod) go to the app market and download an app called "runner" it's free (and there are other free versions). You just need a decent GPS signal, and since you are walking outdoors it shouldn't be a problem. I walk for 30 min and try to get 4.0 mph but usually average about 3.8 or so.

I'd like to use them. I've never had a problem with being out of breath or having my muscles burn. My biggest problem is my feet fall asleep when I use them! anyone ever have that problem or know somebody that does and if they fixed it? My shoes aren't too tight because I've even tried with no shoes on and it does the same…
