This was linked in the carnivore group, but has everyone seen Marty Kendall's overview of the carnivore diet? https://optimisingnutrition.com/2018/03/14/dr-shawn-bakers-carnivore-diet-a-review/ Dr. Baker's average day looks pretty righteous:

@cricketpower ya I'd lean towards no cured meats as well What about coffee?
-
yup

I've seen Fung mention broth a fair amount, but I also don't think he's having people do 6 days fasts either. I think the Snake Diet guy is kind of annoying, but do appreciate his emphasis on "snake juice" which is a DIY electrolyte beverage.

@xDaniDragonflyx Mio should be fine especially if your main purpose of IF is to maintain a caloric deficit. Keep in mind Dr. Fung's main patient base is diabetics and people with kidney disease, and so they are going to be more sensitive to blood sugar issues.

Want to have your noodle really baked? There's one school of thought that even a "stomach stretch" signal = breaking a fast, i.e. drinking water!!!

I do daily-shortened-feeding-window style of IF, 16:8 ... 1p-9p is my window, and usually it starts later than that, sometimes it goes later too. I'll throw in a 24h fast now and then. My version of fast is 'fasted state = no calories', so I'm okay with black coffee, diet sodas, etc.

>I'm bummed that they are so high since I count total carbs and not net carbs. >I'd like to continue to eat these since they are so good for us. It depends on your priorities, and what you mean by 'so good for us'. Do the potential benefits of avocado as a food vs., say, butter (i.e. something more weighted towards a…

I didn't read the study, but couldn't the correlation also work the other direction? That is, obese people are more likely to be drinking diet sodas?

What do you do on weekdays?

You could experiment with La Croix-type waters, the "natural flavors" might have different effects for you than AS do.

Rum and diet + lime wedge is my go-to
-
I've done it for 30 days before and it was ok. I should give it another go for a longer period. And ya, ever since Shawn Baker was on Joe Rogan, it seems like carnivore has gone viral :)

Pretty standard for me -- barbell lifting with some kettlebell stuff thrown in for variety, and various forms of cardio.

Melilssa Hartwig's "one bite rule" can be useful in these situations: https://whole30.com/2015/08/one-bite/ and another useful metaphor I think I first read here: "when you drop your cellphone on the ground, you pick it up; you don't stomp on it!"

For those contemplating going dairy free, and how you would miss it, think about the things people say about getting rid of sugar.

http://whole9life.com/2013/03/the-dairy-manifesto/ Worth a shot for only 30 days + ~2 weeks of reintros.

Something else is afoot

Really great link -- thanks!

Toaster oven should be able to handle the same kind of things an oven would -- roasting veggies, cooking chicken thighs, etc. If he's already used to not having an oven, I don't see why going to keto would be cause for pause.

@FIT_Goat I know your stance on counting calories, but do you also think that one can consistently be in a calorie surplus and lose weight as long as that surplus is low carb?

Ya, we know:

4 posts already and no one's mentioned hard boiled eggs or pork rinds??? :*
