  • I'm completing my pre-reqs for my school's nursing program. If they would stop changing the catalog, I might actually finish! ;-)
  • I absolutely log my gains. I have to hold myself accountable otherwise, THIS, is never going to work. Logging that number makes it real and makes me work harder. I think NOT logging it is the worst thing you can do.
  • Although the hrms might not show it as accurately as it should... It's true. It's confusing, so for me, it depends on how it's worded as to how well I understand it. The best way I've had it explained to me is: Muscle burns more calories from fat. Therefore, if you strength train and THEN do your cardio, you are burning…
  • My children don't have weight problems either but I still don't let them eat it very often. I'm not just about controlling my weight, I'm about putting healthier things into my body and leading by example. I won't put that stuff into my body because of what it contains, so if it's not good enough for me, it's certainly not…
  • Fantastic results... You should be so very proud of yourself.
  • They make holders for your phone that you can attach to your bike's handlebars so that you don't need heahones.
  • That's what I thought too. I think the machine's calculations take into account the speed + the heart rate to get calories burned, whereas the hrm is going strictly off of the heart rate.
  • Most people I know who have done Insanity, have said that they recommend doing P90X first... almost like a warm up to Insanity.
  • Your daughter puts her hand on his belly and says "Maybe you should go to the gym with Mommy, Daddy!" Kids are brutally honest... and so hilarious!
  • Track it like you would anything else. Most light beers/ales will tell you how many calories. Most hard liquor has a calorie content as well. So if it's a rum and diet for instance, you're only tracking the rum. Hard liquor has very few calories though... at least vodka and rum from what I've been told.
  • A new pair of shoes and a pedi. I'm a sucker for both so it's the ultimate reward for me.
  • I didn't get any of my tats for my mom or husband so what does it matter what they think? It's ultimately your body and your decision. Besides, it doesn't hurt much. If you don't want one, that's one thing...
  • I have a beautiful tat on the back of my neck and then a running man on the inside of my ankle. I also have one on my wrist that I am having removed. It's about the quality of the tat, not the person, not the location. I've seen people with full sleeves that look absolutely amazing and I've seen others with ones that look…
  • I couldn't agree more!
  • There's absolutely nothing wrong with deleting him. As long as you simply explain to him why and that it's not that you're bitter, but that it's something that you have to do for yourself. As women, we sometimes let things get into our heads and it effects us... you're simply removing it. Now you may find that once you…
  • If you have an oven, then baked chicken with whatever seasoning you like and steamed vegetables.
  • If you do the same routine, your body gets used to it. When I hit a plateau, I shock my system by completely switching up my workout routine. It works!
  • You put your heart at risk when you take diet pills.
  • I like and use Body by Vi. It tastes and smells like cake batter. It's soy based, gluten-free, low in sugar and is risk free. I've used other shakes but they were either gritty, didn't taste very good, or I was restricted to flavors. I can make by Vi-Shake taste however I like. If you'd like, I can send you a sample. :-)
  • Reading through some of these posts, I am feeling very fortunate. I had my c-section 6 years ago and I can no longer see my scar and at one time, had my "pooch" completely gone. I do have one now though so we'll see how it goes. The trick to getting rid of it is lower abdominal core training. It is possible.
  • It's actually not bad... depending on the thong. They stay in place unlike some full backs which depending on your workout, end up giving you a wedgie. Nothing hotter than digging underwear out of your butt while on the treadmill. lol. This convo is hilarious!
  • My doctor and a friend of mine who is a Nutritionist both said that the 17 Day Diet wasn't the healthiest way to go about losing weight so I opted not to try it. A friend of mine is doing it and while she's lost lots of weight, she's become "skinny-fat" because she's not toned and hasn't done anything for her overall…
  • And you're absolutely right. I guess I should have clarified a little on how I work out. I usually do strength training every other day, including my abs. I do some sort of cardio everyday though. Now will doing side bends to work my obliques be too much today or should I wait? I can see hanging leg raises might be too…
  • It's 500 abdominal reps in one day... building yourself up to doing them every time you work out. It can be any ab workout you choose and you don't have to do them all in one sitting. Today I did 500 reps using the crunch bench (not the technical term I'm sure). I did 3 sets of 20 using a 10 lb weight and then used…
  • That is amazing! You are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing.
  • I'm sorry but what she's explaining is the stereotypical behavior of someone who is simply certified and passing themselves as a completely qualified PT. As far as the lady being there in dress clothes, that's not professional for her line of work. She needs to be there and be prepared and that means in clothing where she…
  • I will say that I've found a HUGE difference between "Personal Trainers" who are simply certified (i.e. what you find at Bally's) and someone who is actually a Personal Trainer with a BA or higher in education. There's two personal trainers in particular at my gym that are fabulous. They have their pricing listed in the…
  • My sister has one that has both a chest strap and a wrist strap.
  • An HRM is the best read of what you are actually burning. Even the sensors on the cardio equipment won't get an exact read because a lot of times they stop reading if the surface gets to sweaty, if you let go for a second, etc. MFP is giving you a generalized number for your weight... it's not taking into consideration…
  • hmm... so you went and checked out Planet Fitness? lol.
