  • I pay $15/mo for life because I got their logo (The Running Man) tattooed on me and I have 24 hour access.
  • I'm 31 and 5'2" SW: 226 (3/23) CW: 223 (3/27) GW: 120 This is my second time around. I started last March and by June, I had lost 30 lbs. I changed my workout routine every month so that I didn't hit plateaus. So I will be following the same philosophy without letting anything get in the way this time.
  • As a wife... whenever my husband goes to the gym with me, I make him take it off. I don't want it getting scratched. Besides, in his line of work (electrician/construction), he's not allowed to wear his ring for fear of his finger getting ripped off or them having to cut it off if something happens to that finger. If a…
  • My friend is a surgery scheduler and sees this type of surgery scheduled quite often and believe it or not, it's not only covered by insurance, but also by government insurance programs. It may just be Ohio though...
  • All that cardio has helped you get in shape... the best kind of shape - Cardio! Strength training will help you get into a better type of shape. ^^^ She is right though. Once your body gets used to a routine, that's when the plateaus begin. We're not trying to knock your efforts in any way... but if you had switched up…
  • If you have enough excess skin, the procedure to have it removed can be covered by insurance.
  • People workout best when they're comfortable. If they're comfortable and feel good wearing the cute gym clothes, then that's good for them. As far as the makeup goes, don't necessarily assume that they're putting on make-up JUST for the gym. I used to go to the gym everyday with full make-up on simply because I was coming…
  • I joined last January and started utilizing the site in mid-March. By mid-June, I had lost a total of 30 lbs. Then I stopped using the site and stopped paying attention to what I was eating. It took almost a year to gain the weight back, but I did. I deleted all of my previous weigh-ins this morning as a way of starting…
  • Seriously? Pretty sure Julius Caesar is proof that those Mayans are way off! If it weren't for him changing the calendar, we'd be in 2013 (or something like that) right now, past the date the Mayans set... research.
  • Almost all white carbs aren't good for diabetics. I never realized that untl my Grandfather developed it and I went to make a spaghetti dinner. Luckily I use whole wheat pasta but even that should be used in moderation.
  • That's too funny! My husband has begun encouraging me to buy t-shirts specifically for working out because I've ruined so many of his.
  • Living in Ohio made me want to smoke too! lol
  • ^^^^ She's right! While I do wear sweats and a t-shirt normally, I love new workout clothes. I just don't wear those cute little tanks and stuff because I don't look cute in them right now. When you do look cute, it does motivate you to go to the gym to look even cuter. Good for you by the way on feeling better about…
  • I used to be one of those girls, not intentionally though. I used to only be able to make it to the gym right after, thus resulting in my makeup still being on my face. That didn't last long though. While I did wear the cute little workout clothes (because I was little at the time) I was there to sweat. Needless to say, I…
  • I would stick to maybe only weighing yourself once a week. Otherwise, weighing yourself and not seeing the results you may have hoped for will only frustrate you. It's only been 3 days... give it time. Your sodium intake is just as important as anything else. So make sure you're drinking plenty of water and watching your…
  • I quit smoking in 2005 when I got pregnant. I started smoking again November 2010 and just quit again September 2011. I quit because I was eliminated from consideration for a job that I was completely qualified for due to being a smoker. It pissed me off. I was tired of my smoking controlling so much in my life and I was a…
  • That's awesome! Congratulations on your hard work and dedication. It's very inspirational!!!
  • It's awesome for your calves! If you start out walking backwards, it's easier. It's no coicidence that the people that I see doing this at the gym are also the people that make me have "leg envy".
  • I mix things up. I'll do a little running, walking, incline walking. What burns the most calories for me is serious incline walking. I keep it around 3.8-4.0 but I crank the incline. Start off with what you're comfortable with and increase it by a % every 2 minutes or so. Yesterday I burned 458 calories in 35 minutes...…
  • I would request a conference with the principal, the teacher, both kids, and the other kid's parents. That will get to the bottom of things!
  • It could be a short. My husband's an electrician and we still deal with this stuff every year. It seems that no matter how well you pack it away, something doesn't work the following year.
  • If you're not holding onto the rails which monitor your HR, then it's not getting an accurate reading. I've wondered that in the past and put it to the test; walked a certain distance and speed holding the rails, recorded the info and then walked the same distance and speed not holding the rails and there was a difference…
  • You should be entering your age and weight into the treadmill to gain accurate calculations. If you're not doing so, then I would go by what MFP says. If you are, then go by the treadmill because it's calculations will be based on your actual HR whereas on here, it's an estimate.
  • I was thinking the exact same thing! I used to work at a sushi bar and I can tell you that as long as you fit the calories in, you can pretty much eat whatever roll you want. I used to eat this one called the A-1 Roll (salmon, avocado, and cream cheese, lightly breaded, fried in soybean oil, topped with scallions, spicy…
  • I don't see why it would be a problem. It's the small 300 calorie salads you have to worry about. ;-) You want to consume your workout calories anyway so again, I don't see it being a problem. I would maybe replace the avocado with egg whites to give it a little more protein. I love avocados but was told they're kind of…
  • One thing that wasn't helping me was that I was smoking. After having been a non-smoker for 5+ years, I started smoking again last December. Combined with my busy schedule, I also found it hard to work out because I had to "schedule" it around smoking. I couldn't smoke a cigarette and then go to the gym. So I quit.…
  • Are you sure they're trying to sabotage you? I think eating out is the most popular way for friends to get together. One of my best friends and usually go out to eat whenever we see one another. The difference between her and I up to this point is that she has been the one looking up calorie content and I view it as "I'm…
  • Hi and welcome! I'm just returning after an unintentional break. Here's to results!
  • I kept you because you have always been supportive. I'm right there with you sis! We will make it. I buying a notebook to log everything as well so that way, it's always right there. I bought the window marker and have my ugly number on my mirror. We can brainstorm together on Wednesday! Btw.... you're beautiful no matter…
