It's not unusual for me to gain 2 pounds over night and I'm a guy!!! Fluctuations are normal. You need a weight range to maintain, not a specific number. I have a five pound rang. If I go below the low end I up the calories and gain a bit. If I get near my top range I tighten things up a bit. Trying to stand on a specific…

I only run in nice weather. I don't run in the rain, cold, snow, or gloom of night. In the winter I turn into a gym rat. Rarely hit the gym in the summer. I tend to lift and do elliptical in winter, then run once the weather gets nice. I am at maintenance so I don't run to lose. It is nice though to go on a nice run then…

Just wondering. You just lost 11 pounds why not skip the surgery and keep on doing what you are doing? The money you save could be spent on new clothes when you hit your goal

Drink whisky. Drink is straight or on the rocks. This should substantially lower your calorie consumption. I like craft beers. I can drink ONE good craft beer or several drams of whiskey. I chose which based on mood.

There are days I don't feel like exercising, so I don't. There are days I go over my calorie goals. No guilt felt here. So long as this doesn't become your new habit there is never a reason to feel guilty.

Great post. I also found losing, and now maintaining my weight pretty easy. it IS a lifestyle change, but not in the way most people think. The changes I made were more mindful than that of a "lifestyle." Like the OP I continue to eat what I have always eaten. The change is I have learned to moderate things. For example.…

My go to is PB&J. I have it almost every day for lunch and I work from home.

Thank you for posting this. I am starting to creep again. I am once again hanging around at the top of my range. This morning I was thinking about "upping" my range. Your post made me realize I was about to start down a slippery slope. I'm going to get back to the lower end of my range by the end of September. Thanks. I…

There are a lot of races out there with a lot of different level runners. The important thing is to just get out and do some. I didn't start running until I was in my fifties. At 56 I've placed in a few runs for my age group. I just shoot for sub 30 minute runs and if I achieve that I am happy whether I win anything or…

You can lose weight without exercise, so there is no reason to not lose weight. Exercise to become more healthy. With 100 pounds to lose it's no wonder you don't feel like exercising. Just start losing for now. You can add exercise as your energy level increases with the weight loss. I lost 70 pounds. I did not begin…

If I really load up on carbs I've gained as much as 4 pounds in a day. I weigh in every morning and even if I am under calorie goal carb loading will add the weigh. I know it will all be gone in a day or two though. I guess If I ate a lot of carbs every day it could be a problem. I have learned my body and when I see a…

Long term weight loss does not involve dieting. Long term weight loss involves a lifestyle change. You need to re-think how and what you eat. You need to re-think your exercise levels. What you do to lose weight is what you need to do to maintain, just with an increase in calorie load.

Just enjoy yourself. There will be super fit runners all the way to those less fit than you. The best advice is to get towards the rear at the start. As a walker you don't want to slow down the runners. Do your best and get a base line. Next year when you do this same race you can try to beat your time from this year.

Good advice so far. You mentioned eating 3 times a day. If you prefer to eat more often that's OK. Maybe three meals and a couple snacks along the way? Just take your time and it will all work out. Since no one else mentioned it. Pick a weight range not a specific weight. I have a five pound range. If I go under 190 I up…

No, you are not a camel. Question answered now drink something already.

Yep lost 70 pounds and have kept it off for a couple years.

This is intended to be more encouragement than advice: First losing weight is all about calories in VS calories out. I lost 70 pounds and went from sedentary to running 5K most days. The approach I took follows: First log everything you put in your mouth. Once you get a handle on you intake you can take steps to control…

Have fun. The only advice is don't start out too fast. I have a tendency to do this. Realize you will be passed a lot the first half mile or so as the field spreads out. Get into your groove and enjoy the run.

I drink my coffee black and my whisky straight. I'm simple that way. Seriously if you buy good coffee, or good whisky, there's no need to mix either.

I also have low BP. Even when I was 70 pounds overweight it was low. If that is the issue then just be aware of it. I usually sit upright for a few moments before standing, and when I stand up I stand still for a moment before I start walking. Sometimes after sitting in a recliner with my feet up I stand up and start…

Keep in mind your weight will not be static. I, and most people recommend a rage, say 5 pounds. If you go under the range up your calories a bit, if you go over the range cut a bit. You don't want to get too obsessive about a number. Like the prior post states you can set up your profile to lose 0 pounds and that will be a…

You're doing fine. I wouldn't change a thing.

To echo the other posts. There is nothing to be nervous about. First step is to pick a small goal. Perhaps eating at a deficit. Once you are comfortable with that goal set a new one. Perhaps move more. Once you are comfortable with that one then maybe look at your macros. Next up exercise. Get the point? It is all about…

PB&J. Doesn't need to be refrigerated and tastes great. I am also on the road a lot. It's the best. A travel mug full of black coffee and It's a party. I have a Yeti mug. Fill it up and it stays hot for hours. When I stop for gas I refill the mug and drain the used coffee.

Nope, never did. Lost 70 pounds. Your mileage may vary.

Not in the Phoenix area. Just do a search on google, or any search engine and you an find them. Most 5K runs also include walkers. Just pick one and go for it.
-
For me a 5K is my standard run. I have a couple different routes near my home. I run them 3-4 days a week. I enjoy going to races as it let me get a change of scenery . I did a 5K trail run today. It was the first time I've done a trail run. The course was not too bad until the end. The last hill was STEEP. The downhills…

Quite frankly it is a big deal. You succeeded. More importantly you are continuing forward. I've been on maintenance for a few years and lost 70 pounds before that. Still every day I see little victories. Today for example I walked up a hill with some rough terrain. I really did not think about it at the time. A little…

I was thinking the same thing. I eat chocolate, I eat ice cream. I drink beer. I eat potato chips. I lost 70 pounds and have maintained for 3 years eating all those evil foods. It is all about moderation and self awareness. I know what my calorie limit is. I know what I earn from exercise and I will eat/drink anything I…
