  • I soak, boil, then make baked beans out of them. It's really good.
  • I stopped actively logging in September, but had already been in maintenance for a few months by then so I had a pretty good grasp on what I was eating. I do still log particular meals every now and then, like if I'm trying to see how a new recipe fits into dinner or something along those lines. At this point, I've been…
  • I've given myself about a 5 lb. window before I would even start to raise an eyebrow, anything much beyond that for multiple weeks (I only weigh once a week) and I'd likely start re-evaluating what I was doing.
  • Really, the only time I would think someone is "too skinny" is if they emaciated or malnourished to the extent that they basically look like a thin veil of skin over a skeleton, think Karen Carpenter toward the end of her life. I think every body type between the extremes of grotesquely obese or deathly skinny can be…
  • Usually somewhere along the lines off 60/25/15 or 55/25/20 depending on the day. I'm not an avid weight lifter so I don't go out of my way to try to eat a ton of protein, although I do make sure to at least hit the MFP goal.
  • I haven't gone way over maintenance since probably Christmas, but I indulge in foods that would make "clean eating" zealots shudder on a weekly basis. The past couple of nights I've had pigs in a blanket made with uncured turkey dogs (turkeys in a blanket?), homemade pizza dough and mozzarella slices. At a little over 300…
  • Pigs in a blanket made with uncured turkey hot dogs, mozzarella cheese and a homemade pizza dough recipe. Oh and a few veggies on the side.
  • I only weigh out certain foods that are calorie-dense and more susceptible to having their serving size underestimated. For fruits or veggies I normally eyeball or break out the measuring cup, because an underestimation of a serving of broccoli isn't going to have quite the same caloric content as an underestimation of a…
  • I STILL get those kinda comments to this day, even though I stopped losing weight coming up on a year ago. I really do believe most of the remarks like that are made out spite instead of genuine concern, at least in my experience. It'd be nice if such people would have as much concern for what they themselves are eating…
  • I have not actively logged since September and have been maintaining just fine. I got sick of the meticulous counting of numbers each day and getting pissed if everything wasn't perfect. Logging showed me what types and how much of certain foods I need to eat, so now I can pretty much work it all out in my head without…
  • As long as I'm within the 5 lb. maintenance bubble I've set for myself, I'm good. As far as fitness goals are concerned, I'm looking to complete the 100 push-ups program in the near future and run a 25k trail run in June.
  • You can weigh-in whenever you feel like. Whether that's once a day or once a month, it doesn't matter. I personally try to weigh once a week, although sometimes I go longer between weigh-ins. I'm in maintenance and eat just about the same amount of calories each day, so it's not overly critical for me to weigh anymore…
  • I still have a few more months until I can register, but I'll save it to my bookmarks for when the time is right!
  • For me, the juice cleanse mumbo jumbo that's so popular right now.
  • This is completely normal, although it does take some getting used to. When you lose fat you also lose padding in certain areas of your body, so this is to be expected.
  • I certainly try to eat a wide variety of fruits and veggies each day, with a sprinkling of meat and dairy mixed in occasionally, to meet my nutritional needs. But, I don't follow any diet in particular and eat whatever I want. I'll fit in just about anything into my eating plan. There's so much delicious food out there,…
  • In my state, weight isn't listed on the driver's license, but the picture speaks for itself. I was about 100 lbs heavier in my license photo and were it not for the glasses, you wouldn't even know it was the same person!
  • I've lost a similar amount of weight (50+lbs) as you and I've found that even though I've been in maintenance for awhile, the loose skin has been tightening up on its own. In fact, I've lost around 3" from my waist since I stopped losing weight and started eating at maintenance. I've not tried any special remedies or…
  • I went about going into maintenance a little quicker than I probably should've. I was eating at about a 500-700 calorie deficit (1800-2000 cals) and when I wanted to stop losing weight, I began eating at what MFP said would be my maintenance (2500-3000 cals) the next week and have been maintaining there for the past 7…
  • With so many other ways to die and so many other diseases that it's possible to contract, getting cancer from eating red meat is fairly low on my personal list of concerns. If you look hard enough, you can find information linking cancer to the consumption of just about every food you can imagine.
  • No gain here, but the only days I ate way over maintenance were on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The rest of the time I stuck to my maintenance cals and adhered to my exercise routine. I ate all the holiday-oriented treats I wanted, but fit them into my goals. No regrets.
  • I maintained, just as I intended to. I didn't stray too far from my usual routine during the holidays, for once.
  • I like freshly grated cheddar, fresh cilantro and jalapenos as toppings on my homemade pizzas. Of course a good quality garlic-based sauce is obligatory whatever the toppings are. Here recently I've been making stuffed crust pizza with cheddar cheese sticks in the crust, which I've sorta become addicted to.
  • It is going to be a big time eye opener, or it was for me anyway, when I first bought mine. You'll be surprised at how big a serving size is for some foods (like the chicken you mentioned), compared to the small serving size of more calorie-dense foods ( ice cream, cake, etc.). IMHO a scale is one of the most important…
  • I normally don't weigh until Saturday morning, but thought I'd weigh in a day early just out of curiosity. I was up maybe up 0.5 lbs from last week about this time and it also appears that I've lost another 0.25" off my waist. But, I'm in maintenance so that kind of variation is pretty much the norm. I was able to…
  • I ate smaller portions than I would have in years past and I was able to get by with having just one slice of pie. Probably still went way over maintenance but I don't care, it's back to business tomorrow and for the first time ever I'm not going to have to look into losing weight after the 1st of the year. Life is good.
  • As long as you're at a healthy weight for your height, which it sounds like you are, then don't pay any mind to the "too skinny" comments. Your weight and appearance isn't anybody else's business.
  • Since I've stopped logging anyway, I won't be logging on Christmas. I'll do my best to maintain reasonable portion sizes and have a bit of dessert, but I'm not going to be super-meticulous about it. I'll be eating at my grandma's and even if I were still actively logging it would be an educated guess at best. The way I see…
  • Since today is a normal exercise day, yes, I'll be exercising.
  • I use cinnamon, Mrs. Dash and black pepper on a daily basis.
