I have a few "petty" reasons! One, my closets are filled with clothes that I haven't been able to wear for a couple of years. I love clothes but was wearing big tent-like clothes. Two, I'm 65 and know that I need to take better care of myself. I've had back surgery, foot surgery (ruptured tendon), appendex removed, lower…

Congratulations!

Oh, sometimes I take my own snacks (breakfast bars, apples, dried fruit, etc.)

I just enjoy the week and get back on track when I get home. I think it helps me to take a break like that occasionally. But I'm careful to not go overboard like I use to do.

I try to get 12,000 a day and it is not hard if I go to the gym for an hour. If I having a lot of sitting on some days, I dance around, jog, move around the house (which drives my husband crazy!) Really good days, I get 14,000.

Zumba hurts my knees also! Walk daily and measure your meal portions. You'll feel better and lose weight.

Colorado Springs- perfect for hiking and biking but at my age, I get my exercise at the gym and out working in our yard.

I've been here a few times myself. It always works but I just have trouble staying with it. I had 20 pounds to lose last September. Instead of losing, I put on 30 pounds between Sept. and March. I looked terrible, had no clothes to wear, wasn't exercising, and was just disgusted with myself. I'm 65 and a teacher who was…

I'll join! My starting weight is 185 pounds. I'm 65 years old and 5'9". My goal weight is 145 by September 7th. This will be great to keep me on track. I weigh on Sat. mornings.

My "go to every morning breakfast" is 2 eggs and an english muffin. Gives me that energy that I need until lunch.

I think that you are right Frequently_ I felt fine the next morning and taught school all day. I even went to the gym and worked out on the treadmill taking it easy. Worked out today on the elliptical and was fine. So I will take it easy until my body catches up with what exercise it. Thanks for everyone's input!

I turn 65 next month and have the most weight to lose that I have ever had. I was suppose to start on MFP in January but it took me 10 weeks to finally get going. I am really good with excuses. After the first day of logging all of my food, I was once again shocked at how much I was eating. This is my husband's and my 4th…

Spaghetti squash with spaghetti sauce and hamburger.

5'91/2" My current weight is 190 but 140-150 works best for me. MFP gets the weight off but I start snacking and then can't stop. This is the most that I have ever weighed, even when I was pregnant. At 65 years old, it is really hard to get it off now.

Me too! I end up losing the weight that I want and then get back on the high calorie band wagon again. This time I have double to amount to lose!

Ha! I had forgotten about the bread and butter. We actually ate pretty healthy though but I never liked the mushrooms, avocado, oysters, bread dressing, stuffed peppers, lima beans, zucchini, cooked tomatoes, and still don't care for those. We also had to sit at the table until dinner was consumed. Eating out was never for…

It is extremely sweet! My husband makes my teas for me since he is retired and I am still working. I can't complain because I appreciate his help.

I have an English muffin and 1-2 eggs for breakfast. Then usually a banana during the morning. Lunch can be a salad with protein, maybe pretzels, a Lean Cuisine meal, and some fresh veggies. Snack usually is nuts, cheese, or a piece of fruit, and dinner is 3-4 oz protein, vegetables, rice/potato, fresh veggies, and maybe…

No eye contact works for me.

If you really want to lose, then you have to be serious and figure out what works for you. You are young and shouldn't have a problem especially if you are moving a lot. I started about the same time as you. I'm 63 years old and have lost 19 pounds. I do work out for 60-70 minutes 6 days a week. Are you on a college…

I'm in! Thanks for all of the wonderful info. 60 minutes!

I know that it is carbs, but one of those small bags of popcorn is only 110 calories. Peanut butter on fresh veggies or salsa on fresh veggies, cottage cheese with whatever you want to add to it.

My husband eats his deficit but I usually don't. He actually loses more weight per week than I am. I'm just not ever sure whether I am going to the gym after work so don't eat a ton during the day. Then at night, I really don't want more than what we have for dinner. I figure it is okay to lose slower as long as I am…

I have 40 to lose also and have been on this for 10 days. I'm 63 years old so it is really difficult for the weight to come off. Add me and let's support each other.

I'm in! I am 63 years old and it is really difficult to get weight off at this age. What doesn't help much is that I haven't been exercising and have been eating everything that I shouldn't. So this weekend, I got back in charge of what I am eating (MFP) and have gone to the gym the last three days. I am 5 ft. 9 in. and…

Exactly what I was going to say. Yogurt is not the thing to eat. Been there, done that.

Then why does slower walking (leisurely) burn more calories? This really confused me until I started doing some research about the difference between fast walking vs. slower. What are your thoughts?

I have used a CSAP for about 15 years. Even at my skinniest I still needed it because of tissue in my throat that blocks my breathing at night. I have even awakened myself when I am napping as I gasp for breath. Yes, it does help but I still am prescribed a medication to help me stay alert during the day. The mask does…

I'm in for April. I'm not sure about my goal though. I wear my Fitbit but I'm a long way from 10,000 steps a day.
