Thanks for the idea

I am considered obese and yes I have started running. I usually do 30 minutes on the treadmill. I started by running 1 minute in every 5 and now I am up to alternating every 2 minutes. It isn't easy and you have to push yourself or you won't keep upping the time (or I did anyway). Watch the knees though if they bug you to…

Thanks this sounds like a good suggestion. I didn't know they existed.

Thx, I am not in the best of shape either right now which is why I am asking (don't want to waste my money)

I like protein shakes after my workout if I do them before breakfast or after dinner or in the middle of the afternoon. I agree with the person that said you have to work them into your calorie count though. I use a brand called Vega as it is all natural protein and not soy as many doctors believe to much soy is not good…

Hi, I am 41 and am back for my second time on here after taking a 8 month sabbatical for health reasons. I have about 60 lbs to lose. For me I have a lot of things stacked against me (no thyroid, a heart condition, PCOS and just finish battling cancer for the second time) but I am determined that this time around I am…

Funny I had the exact opposite experience, Running Room put me in a stability shoe after watching me walk and I ended up constantly turning my ankles, I went to Sport Chek explained what my issues was that I walk on the outside of my feet and turn my ankle easily and they said there is no way I should be wearing a…

I had the same problem and have really bad ankles. There is one shoe that is really good for it and that is the Adidas Response Cushion. You underpronate like I do so stay away from stability shoes as they are made for people who tend to walk on the inside of there foot so pull your ankle out. I was mistakenly wearing…

When I first started I was eating about 1200 calories a day and burning 400 - 500 calories a day working out and didn't lose much. I started eating about half my workout calories back so then about 1450 a day and lost 25 pounds in about 3 months. I do think you need to eat a little more if you are working out that much,…

bump for later as I can't read it all at work...lol

While I definately don't think that diet soda causes obesity ...lol. I do have to say that before even working on my eating I gave up drinking diet soda and I felt better just from that. I do think that aspartame was doing something to my body, however I do still occasionally drink diet drinks made with Splenda, but do…

I know what you mean, my boss lost a lot of weight and is really fit now but she has no self control if she eats one piece she eats 20. I would go with substituting where you can. I won't give up ice cream so I keep the individual containers of skinny cow browine and peanut butter chocolate ice cream or skinny cow fudge…

There are what are called good carbs and bad. You don't have to cut all carbs out of your diet just the bad one's anything white. I eat a piece of whole grain toast with breakfast most days and I eat quinoa, brown rice or quinoa pasta everyday for lunch. I then usually eat a salad for dinner. If you are a bigger supper…

As I think both MFP and the machines in my gym over estimate the calories I have burned I usually only eat about 1/2 of them back to be on the safe side. Some days I do eat all though.

You look great congratulations

Thank you I thought I was pretty clear

I don't think the 30 day shred will put on that much muscle but yes a cubic inch of muscle weighs more that fat so yes if you put on muscle you will put on weight but you may actually get smaller. Worry about your percentage of body fat and how your clothes fit more than the actual number on the scale. My former trainer is…

I don't know if it is scientifically proven or not but I do know I have had much better success this time by eating smaller dinners than I have with weight loss in the past. I don't think it works for everyone but don't knock those of us it does work for. Also I never go to bed hungry or wake up hungry when I do this but I…

I too have PCOS and insulin resistance and my doctor recommended trying Metoformin but I decided to try dieting without it. I wanted to see if I could do something about it without meds as Metoformin can be very rough on some people's digestive systems. I really have to watch my carbs and my sugar but since April I have…

I think it is different for everyone and really depends on your body and how it burns. There is no harm in trying for a couple of days. I personally typically eat about 250 for break, 350-400 for l lunch and then 400-450 for dinner and the rest in snacks. However for me I find when I am delegant what works is no carbs for…

That is great keep up the good work. I am noticing the same thing for myself so I know what you mean. I think it is because I am exercising more this time while losing weight.

Hi I too have PCOS, I am usually okay on the carbs but I like fruit and sweets and because PCOS makes you insulin resistant I know I need to watch this more than I am. Oh I should also mention I have no thyroid because of cancer 7 years ago and I was born with a heart defect that makes exercise limited for me. That being…
