Water aerobics classes are great for you. Any aerobic activity that gets your heart rate up for a consistent period of time will help you lose weight. Swimming is fabulous for those of us with crapped out joints because it takes the impact away from them. And as an added bonus, even though you're working hard, the cool…

Yes I eat some of them (approximate 50%). I have consistently lost 0.5-1lb per week since the end of Jan.

Yes! Mine have shrunk a size and gotten narrower. Which is a good thing overall, except that my favourite hiking boots are now too big!!

First off, try again with real oatmeal - it's a completely different food from the instant stuff. If you still don't like it, try Red River cereal - cooks like oatmeal, has a hunch of different grains.

My feeling is that unless you're training at an elite level, it really doesn't matter what order you do your workout; the point is merely to move! For me, I like to do cardio 1st - warms me up and gets my head in the right place for some weights. My usual workout buddy likes to do things in the opposite order - she says…

I worked nights for years. The first thing I did was rename my meals. Instead of breakfast etc, I named them meal 1, meal 2 etc. This gets me out of the "breakfast in the morning' mentality as I always switched back to sleeping at night on my days off. I then decided that my 'day' was the period of time from when I woke up…

Thanks for this!

Count me in - downloaded c25k just now!

There is another poster on these forums - his user name is "thefranlover". He has a blog which has some great swimming workouts ranging from novice to advanced. He's open to new friends - shoot him a message!

Yes! I do exactly the same thing! It's purely psychological but it works for me.

I didn't get fat from veggies and fruit...I don't bother to count them in moderation. I also usually leave myself a 100cal cushion or so for little things like that. I'm losing weight this way - maybe not as fast as some but it's coming off steadily!
-
I don't worry about it. If I'm hungry before I go to bed and I have the calories to spare, I have something to eat! Now granted this is more along the lines of a smaller snack rather than a big meal but still, hunger means eat! I just don't really believe the whole 'don't eat before bed thing' - as a nurse I've looked at…

Carrots and hummus here...while I watch the CANUCKS take their first cup!!

I'm a member of the pre-menopausal slooooow weightless club...(I define pre-menopause as hot flashes, mood swings, insomnia and metabolism slowdown combined with PMS and monthly cramps - it's just all so fabulous). Anyhow, my point is, I've lost 20lbs since starting this thing at the end of January...with an average weekly…

I also work odd hours. What I did was, number my meals 1-6 instead of breakfast, lunch etc. I eat meal 1 when i get out of bed. Meal 6 is my pre- bedtime snack. It doesn't matter what the calendar says; my 'day' is the time from when I wake up tilmwhen I go to sleep. What this does mean is that sometimes it will seem as…

I had it done - went from a 36G to a large C/small D. Only regret was not having it done sooner!! Absolutely go to a plastic surgeon - and check references too. A good doctor will determine if the procedure is medically necessary, and then bill your insurance appropriately.

If you keep adding to this thread, that will bump it to the top. Those of us who have replied to it now have it in our posts and can check for new posts. Also, I think something comes up on the feed if you are a friend!

I don't believe in the whole "don't eat at night" thing - a calorie at 10am is the same calorie at 1am to me. I also work evenings - I find something with a bit of protein really does the trick when I get home - a glass of milk and an apple; a bowl of oatmeal with almonds and milk, a peanut butter sandwich. I just make…

I LOVE the idea of some good pool workouts!! I played competitive water polo for years. Now I swim regularly, but usually just jump in and pound off a mile or so. This will help alleviate the boredom a bit. But I do agree with the previous poster who requested the glossary for those of us not familiar with swim team lingo.…

Shark...my favourite kind of sushi!! WE BELIEVE!!!!! GO CANUCKS GO !!!!!!!!!!

I find I'm starving for a couple of days around TOM...and usually craving salt and chocolate. I do give into it to the tune of an extra 100-200 cal. Something like a bowl of oatmeal with some almonds and a bit of dark chocolate usually does the trick and keeps me out of the pringles!! I figure my my body needs that energy…

Can't wait for tomorrow night - GO CANUCKS!!!

Congrats!! I have another 4lbs to get there myself, but I can't wait to claim the same thing!!
-
I love oatmeal - have it for breakfast almost every day! Blueberries and pecans Raisins, dried cranberries and chopped almonds Chopped apples, cinnamon and walnuts Peanut butter and honey... The possibilities are endless!!

I absolutely DO NOT love going to the gym. So, I got a personal trainer for a few sessions - he got me started on a plan, helped with the whole 'gym intimidation thing' and knowing that he was waiting for me to show up forced me to go as well. Now it's a habit and part of my regular schedule.
