I usually get lemonade-green tea.

Buy in bulk. Keep a stash of stuff you can just boil and flavor, like quinoa, lentils, cous cous (the small kind and the pearl kind), and also frozen veggies. It's actually cheaper if you just have that stash in the long term, even if in the short term it doesn't seem like it.

A combination of both is best. I'm not one to preach about chemicals in food, but they are there in processed things. I don't recommend buying fast food too often, but if you have a Smart Ones or a Lean Cuisine for dinner, whatever, you know? I think it's ultimately better (healthier and cheaper) to buy fresh foods and…

Yeah, this. A woman owns her own body.

Doesn't matter what those guys think anyway. If a woman wants to get a tattoo, she has the right to get one.

My gf and I are all about healthy food. Sometimes I freak out because my calorie count is slightly higher (still around my goal) some days when I'm with her, but the fact is that I eat a lot of organic veggies and fruits, whole grains, and things like that. It's all about portion control, too! It's not necessarily a…

People might tell you, "just get over being a picky eater" but honestly it's not that simple. I would say, aim to eat the fruits and veggies you DO like. Also, I would also aim to eat fake meat (you know, the veggie sausage, riblets, etc. you can find them in the health food section of a grocery store or the frozen…

It's not something I can actually handle well :/ Honestly, I try to aim for AT LEAST 1200 cals a day, but when the negativity kicks in, I freak out about eating that much. And it's not even that much. WTF, self.

Mostly, I want to live for a long time and with a healthy lifestyle. Also I want to be able to sift through thrift stores and not feel excluded because everything is too small for me.
-
I'll add you. I like to offer support whenever I can :)

I don't suggest cutting out a food group unless you have a special restriction, like food allergies or if you're a vegetarian or something. You need carbs! They are your energy source. The trick is finding the good carbs and separating them from the bad ones. And fruit is fine, just don't make it all your food for one day,…

I'm a librarian and work part-time at a library, and because that doesn't pay enough, I also work at a health food store.

I get you. Even though I let MFP set the calorie goal for me, I freak out if I eat more than 1300 calories or so a day. It's not hard for me to not eat unhealthy things... it's just a difficult process in general. But yeah, very low, non-caloric things I don't usually log, like veggies. Some veggies (and fruits) have more…

Hey! I need to lose a similar amount and like to help motivate people. Feel free to add me if you want to! :) (And I totally get you. Standing jobs are tough.)

Smaller portions and more exercise. And depending on whether you're cooking or around when it happens, record the recipes so you can see exactly what you're eating and how much is an acceptable amount. Idk, that's probably what I'll do.

You don't know unless you ask. I know that's easier said than done, but everyone is different. Generalizing and assuming can hurt potential relationships too.

I don't normally like to hate on shows or whatever, but.... yeah. This. I don't watch it, but whenever my mom has the show on, I feel like the girls are just shouting? Maybe it's just bad acting, and I don't say that lightly because like I said, I don't like to judge.

The double standard isn't acceptable at all, despite what society allows. I mean, what if someone doesn't just like the opposite sex? Likes both? Is that person allowed to hang out with NO ONE?
-
Yeah, honestly. I really only weigh myself once a month. Any more than that freaks me out. And of course not everyone's experience is mine, but I agree with the advice given to you.
-
I guess it's simply going to have to be all about the willpower. I think on Thanksgiving and Christmas I might actually have a lot of different things, but maybe smaller portions. I guess it's also important to be mentally prepared to resist eating a lot of everything. Or have an off day, within reason.
-
I will add you -- I have to lose around that much more. Also, anyone feel free to add me. I try to motivate people and stuff :)

Welcome to the site!

We all do stuff that makes us feel like we've screwed up everything. The important thing is to get back on track the next day and to know that you can do it :)

Saaaaaaame.

Trust me, things like that happen all over. I'm a librarian in a small town in New York, and we have people like that come in. Especially one particular family. And for some reason they like to tell me their life stories.
-
Definitely eat some more, especially when you exercise!
-
I want to lose some weight, but I also want to eat enough.
-
I understand. But congrats on losing five! That's great!

Did you mean that health is at risk due to a certain amount of calories? Because it can be. It depends on weight, activity, and many factors, but it does. Not only that but if you eat so few calories and then start eating normally again, it might not be what your body can handle anymore and you just put weight back on. But…

I'm doing that too, eating vegan for health starting today! And those cupcakes look awesome! I work at a health food store, and I've actually come to like vegan baked goods more than ones made with milk, butter, and eggs. I don't know how that happened, but it did.
