  • 6050 yards today. 1 hour 52 minutes.
  • 1 hour 52 minutes. The sets were planned and times in intervals chosen by the coach. I think I could have gone faster if I was able to swim it in longer sets.
  • I'm trying for 30,00 yards this week. I only swam 3,800 yesterday, and I know I'll be swimming 6,000 tomorrow. • To celebrate New Year's Day, my Master's swim club is doing 150x50s (yards), which comes out to 6k yards or 5,486 meters. We have two hours to finish. I'll come back to this and report Wednesday.
  • I had my blood drawn and analyzed at my annual Dr. visit last year. I was barely into the pre-diabetic stage with my Hgb A1c% (5.7%), and my HDL (good cholesterol) was low (37). That's what jump started me into my most current iteration of weight loss. I got the results back from my latest blood work, and both my HDL and…
  • Yes, and the Master's coach decided that we're going to race every event timed, including the 200 fly. To build up to that, she gave us a lot of fly sets today, and I currently need a nap because of it.
  • There may be a difference between noticing, and saying something. I'm 6'0" and started at 222 lbs. The first person to say anything did so at about 15 lbs. Some people said something at 20-25. I'm down to 175, and some people just barely said something. I think people sometimes don't say something because it may be…

  • I swim in a short course pool measured in yards because the U.S. won't give up the standard system for some reason. Anyway, I swam 5000 yards today (close enough) in 1 hour 26 minutes including all my stops. I reckon another 7 minutes for a full 5km.
  • I bought pants in the same size as I wore in high school.
  • Final goal weight is close enough that it is considered a mini goal. Six more pounds.
  • 5200 yards this morning 💪. Gotta swim extra this week cause there's a catered lunch at work this week, and it's wood smoked barbecue.

  • 1) My health insurance came to my office yesterday and offered $50 to do a biometric screening. It also offered another $50 for hitting key targets for health like blood sugar, cholesterol levels, BMI, etc. My employer offered to match. I'm $200 richer today. 2) Today I hit a new PR* for my 200 IM. *Not actually a PR…
  • I can help, but I'd rather not drone on in a long post. You can message me if you'd like.
  • My pool switched its lanes to short course today, and it felt like a never-ending flip turn.
  • 4km today. The sets were long and involved. Not gonna break it down, but I'm liable to nap it out in my chair at work today.
  • The view when I walked in the pool this morning.
  • I swim with my local Masters group on MWF. On Monday, the coach gave us a set of 10 x 50m with fins and paddles on 0:50. Today, she took away the fins with the same time. I suspect she will take away the paddles on Friday. She assigned this set today just after a 400m IM followed by a 600 pull set. I think she's trying to…

  • I have two. As I walked from the pool to the showers/locker room yesterday, I looked down and thought, "What's wrong with my thigh? It's sticking out so weird." As I felt it to see if something was wrong, I realized there's nothing wrong. I just have some muscle definition I'm not used to seeing. When I gained weight, I…

  • Just like driving. So in the U.S. at least, swim on the right, pass on the left if you must share a lane with more than two people. Not sure how it works in countries where "the right side is suicide," but @emmab0902 might be able to help with that.
  • 6'0" 37yo here. This is my second time losing on MFP. My first time around was in my early 30's. I started at 229 and ended up 4 lbs shy of my goal weight of 180. This time around, I have a lot less free time, and I've noticed a few things. Started at 221.5 and currently at 193. 1) Your body gets used to your workouts if…
