HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! If swimming isn't a real exercise, why do I feel like death after 2 laps? Thank you! I still go to class from time to time, but much prefer running outside these days and biking outdoors.

Yep, every single holiday. Still 170 pounds less than when I started. It's one day, not a lifestyle.

I really enjoyed spin class when I first started losing weight. My doctor laughed at me and told me that I was wasting my time and cycling was useless in burning calories. Said I should run instead. Except the fact that my chest strap and heart rate monitor had me burning 500+ calories a class. He said this after I came in…

My first 5K was 45 minutes or so. It took me 2 years after that to get below 30 minutes and my current PR is 26:20 is from 2015. I worked my tail off for that PR. Am I reading correctly that a 5K currently takes you 30+ minutes? You're looking at an improvement of over 1:30 minute per mile in 3 months. Maybe revise the…

Swam 35 minutes. Walked the 2 miles to the gym, 45 min. spin class, 2 mile walk home. I also have a 90 min restorative yoga class tonight.

15:45 but it was also straight uphill.

Two hours before - bagel and cream cheese. When I get to the race site - a banana.

Well fitting running shoes are absolutely invaluable. I replace mine a few times a year. (300-400 miles) The reason why you work with a local running store? Because they will help put you in what's right for your feet. I had been wearing 1 brand for years. The new version came out and when it was time to replace, I didn't…

No, he's not gaining 2 pounds of muscle in 3 weeks.

Safety. Hands down. Where I live, it's more acceptable to drive your tractor down the road than it is to ride your bike. I DO ride, but not as often as I'd like. I don't personally want to feel what it's like getting hit by a car. We've been screamed at, honked at, flipped off and almost ran off the road despite hugging…

I have two kiddos of my own now. Right when I started, dropped 30 pounds over a few months and got pregnant right away. I have a 6 year old daughter and 4 year old son. So it did work out.
-
I was told I would never have kids on my own. The doctor also said I should either go on a prescription weight loss drug or have gastric bypass. Decided to do it on my own and lost 170 pounds and have kept it off for 7 years.

I've worn my 920XT pretty much daily for almost 2 years and the only bad thing that's happened is the band wore out once. Garmin's quality is hands down the best and their customer service rocks.

It starts with C25K and before you know it you're training for your first 50K trail run. I've done over a dozen half marathons, 2 fulls, and too many 5K/10K/other distances to keep track. Proud graduate of C25K.

People want a quick fix. They don't want to believe that it's CICO...that take works and effort. I've lost 170 pounds and get asked quite a bit what my secret is. The eyes glaze over when I say it's a matter of calories in vs. calories out.
-
Beautiful eyes.

When I first started out at 320 pounds, I would walk for about an hour a day. I lost a good 30-40 pounds that way before deciding to join a gym. I walk now, but it's not my only exercise. Actually, I don't count walking as exercise for myself.

Large, black coffee, no cream or sugar. Tasty and very low in calories. I don't have to worry if they are putting shots/swirls/twirls/soymochawhiplatte stuff.

Padded shorts or like was said above, a cover.

This. Kids eat what their exposed to. Mine have the "take it or leave it" option for dinner.

That's what she said...

Took 2nd in my age group at the Celtic run earlier this month!

I need one of these fancy desserts with gold on it. I don't care if there is sucralose in it or not....GOLD!!

I'm feeling pretty angry right now. Our Y is on "break week" next week. So no classes. But, one of my favorite instructors was going to have class anyway (because fitness doesn't take a break). He was told he'd get in trouble if he held class. So, pretty upset by that.

This. 100% this.

Hopefully this is what you're looking for... Right now I am tracking and logging everything. But, I do know I won't track a single thing on days of races over a half. I won't track nor care one bit about calories for the day and day after I run my first 50K.
-
The difference is that I wouldn't count a stroll around a museum as exercise, no matter the length. But, if you would log it as "exercise", more power to you.
-
Apples to oranges. Not logging a candy bar can undermine weight loss efforts. Not adjusting calories due to a stroll around a museum? Not going to do anything. But, you do you and I'll do me. My family and I are going to a trampoline park next weekend. I'm positive bouncing for an hour or so will burn a ton of calories. Am…

If you don't mind me asking, how was recovery? I'm almost to the point of asking for surgery. It ends up popping on it's own, but comes back and gets big and painful before it pops.
