I'm using WW but tracking everything here on MFP as well. Mainly because the last time I tried WW, I found myself under eating. So, using both for a while to be sure I'm getting my minimum calories every day.

I would really suggest that you and your husband meet with a registered dietitian to go over all this. Especially since there are underlying medical issues. But, in the meantime, the advice above is great. Limit processed foods, use herbs and other spices to season your food instead of salt. Load up on fresh fruits and…

Yes, a few times a month, I have to decide between more sleep or getting up and working out. I suffer from horrible insomnia. I'm talking mind numbing, may end up with only an hour of sleep, can barely function the next day insomnia. On those days where I'm not falling asleep until 2 AM, you can bet I'm not getting up at 4…

In! I need a kick in the rear.

I think it's doable. With a quick Google search, I was able to find many Zero to 10K plans. I've seen them from 8-12 weeks. I do think you'll have to take a walk/run approach, but see what you can do. While running outdoors is ideal, it's perfectly okay to train indoors right now if that's what it takes to get started. I…

Black coffee. Low in calories and doesn't take 15-20 minutes for me to get my drink.

This. It's worth the extra calories for me, but I tend to only use boneless, skinless chicken thighs. White meat just doesn't do it for me any more.

One day, tops. My artist knows about this and covers appropriately. Last year, I sat through a 6 hour session and the next day ran a 5K PR. It was covered in Saniderm and trust me, the artist knew and gave her blessing. I've never lost any color or had any problems working out the next day.

You couldn't pay me to have WLS. I know it's extremely anecdotal, but the people in my life that have gone through surgery have all suffered major health issues (related to malnutrition despite doing everything they were told). We're talking iron levels so low to require transfusions. All have regained a good portion of…

Yes! "Healthified" dessert recipes generally taste nothing like their real counterpart and usually leave me with nothing but regret. I have a coworker trying to give me a chocolate chip muffin made with no sugar, oil, or eggs. And ultimately, taste free. It's not worth the calories.

Hopefully you only order the chicken when you go out to eat. My unpopular opinions about food? Don't order the steak if you are going to kill it by ordering it well done. Taste your dang food before you season it at the table. If you put potatoes or spaghetti noodles in your chili, you're nuts. It's goulash at that point.…

Not sure. Wanted to change it up; see if something else would help me better. We get a hefty discount through work, so I'm only out $9 for the month if it doesn't end up working for me. Yup, why I am logging points and calories this week. I want to be sure I'm eating enough. I'm already seeing some areas of concern. Right…

Yeah, I'd like to have energy to run 5 miles like I'm generally used to. Instead, this morning (and the other days I've ran) everything felt like lead, was tired, winded and cut it short.
-
No, sorry. I can't enjoy a 5 pound loss in a week where my energy and performance for workouts was decreased.
-
I did not. Strictly points. There were times where I was hungry, but just figured it was from getting back to not stuffing my face all the time. Yeah, like I said, probably some water weight/bloat. I am going to log calories and points this week to see what happens. Extra work, but I really need to see if I'm eating enough.

Oh my lanta...grunt or don't grunt. Re-rack your weights and wipe down your machines. Seriously, why are people so wrapped up in what others do? I wonder what kind of workout they'd get if they focused on themselves vs. everyone else.

I think you could do a half marathon in 3 months. Cutting over 2 minutes per mile off your pace while doubling your distance in 3 months? Probably not going to happen. Look into Hal Higdon's training plans. Find one and stick to it.

Wow! All these are great! Thank you everyone for taking the time to share your 2020 goals!

First, congrats on finishing a full 5K! That is awesome! I think you have some great advice in this thread. I am with the group that weight training and cross training will help improve the running. Does your trainer have you doing any plyometric type exercises? When I am running my best, I am also taking classes that have…

I'm baking cherry pie and pumpkin pie. Both 100% from scratch.

Your best bet is to go to a local running store and get properly fitted for shoes. What one person wears may not work for someone else.

Wrap the wrist. Drop the weights until it feels better. Focus on lower body. I have two weird wrists. The one because I broke it as a teen and have had issues since. I have a painful ganglion cyst on the other. For pushups, you can try doing them holding dumbbells. That helps me at times.
-
If you just want to finish, you can absolutely finish on the longest run being 10 miles. I forget what he says, but something about the adrenaline and excitement of race day will help get you through the last 5K. I have a dozen or more (I've lost count) under my belt and have 1 or two "A" races for the year where I try to…

We rotate through a few staples in our house for lunches. For my daughter (2nd grade), it’s often a tuna sandwich or mac and cheese in a thermos. For my son (5K), it’s either turkey cheese or mac and cheese. We’ll sometimes put spaghetti in a thermos, but those are their staples. Both LOVE vegetables, so I’ll put slices of…

Deep fried cheese curds. I can get get through 2 - 3 and my stomach says "No more!"
