  • I always go over on my sugars. I look back at my foods every day and as long as the sugars are coming from fruit or other natural foods, I don't sweat it. Just my opinion.
  • Hi there! I can really relate to your situation. I started working much more from home starting last summer. For the first few months I gained weight because I did much more sitting around than when I had to walk from my parking structure to my office, etc. I have now learned to let the situation work for me. I use my…
  • OK - after years of measuring my "after baby" gut and getting the same measurement......I took it Thursday morning and OMG it had gone down by .5 inches. I took it Fri. and Sat. too just to make sure and it was the same. I know .5 inches does not seem like a big deal, but it's wonderful for this Mom!! Especially since the…
  • It helps clear my congestion when my allergies are bad. In springtime I use the apple cider vinager and saline nose spray. This combo works better than any allergy med. I've ever tried - and I've tried most of them. Just be sure to drink any apple cider concoction with a straw - it can strip the enamel on your teeth.
  • Does anyone use measurements to calculate body fat? I use this one: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/body-fat-calculator/ and keep track of the number in my "check-in" numbers. Kind of just for the heck of it because I don't know how accurate it is.
  • I read this in high school years ago. Nacerima is American spelled backward.
  • I put 1 1/2 T of Apple Cider Vinegar in a splash of juice and some water to help with my allergies and sinus issues. I haven't noticed it to help with hunger, but it definitely helps with allergies. It also doesn't hurt my stomach.
  • 39 degrees and raining in Wisconsin.
  • I don't know about where you are, but our cable TV has a fitness on demand channel where you can access fitness programs anytime. I love it because there isn't an extra charge. These are just programs they play on cable at other times.
  • I think this might be regional. Here in Wisconsin, we call the thing you drink water out of that's attached to the wall a "bubbler".
  • I guess I was just wondering what kind of calories I naturally burn in a regular day without excersise.
  • OK - so my BMR is 1,247 calories a day and I have a desk job (although 2 kids I run around with). My goal is to have a 500 calorie deficit every day. I get how to calculate excersise calories, but how do you know how many daily activiy calories to add onto your BMR?
  • I'm so sorry to hear about your problems. First of all, I'd get a second opinion with this. I had preeclampsia with my first child and was put on bed rest and eventually induced. Fortunately, my blood pressure didn't get quite as high as yours. When I asked my doctor about a second child, she said there is a slightly…
  • Graduating college Getting my first professional job Buying our first house
  • I really admire your desire to get healthy before you have kids. I didn't know anything about nutrition or taking care of my body when I had my daughter. The consequences - a diffucult pregnancy w/high blood pressure. It wasn't much better with my son, but since then I've been on quite a journey of learning about all of…
  • Let us know how it works for you!
  • First of all, don't go below your 1200 calories a day. Second, be sure to drink lots of water. Third, eat your excersise calories. Trust me on this one. I was the person who thought you shouldn't eat those extra calories. So I didn't for the first 3 weeks and saw no results. I finally gave in and ate them and the scale…
  • I'm in. I have 6 lbs to go til my goal and I definitely need a push!!
  • Don't worry. It took me three + weeks to see any results at all. I know it's frustrating, but keep with it.
  • Thanks! I needed that too.
  • I passed up those disgusting snot-covered, mouse dropping laden, sneezed all over donuts in the kitchen this morning!
  • I'm like you - I have (now) less than 10 pounds to lose. I give myself every Sunday to take a break and not count calories. Most of those Sundays I do go above my calories. So far, I've still been losing about a pound a week. Try not to go above your calories the rest of the week and get your excersice in. BTW, I saw an…
  • Way to go hotmom !!! Put all your frustrations into that work out. Hope you feel better after!
  • Nothing is happening to you. You are human, but you've got to pick yourself up and get moving! You can do it! Once you start, you shouldn't have trouble doing a whole workout. Now GET GOING!!! MOVE! NOW! Don't think about it just do it! NOW! GO!!
  • You guys are so awesome!! Thanks for the laughs and support. I just braved the kitchen to get a big glass of water and my almonds. I just looked at the donuts and laughed. Crisis averted!
  • There are donuts in the kitchen at work right now and my office is right by the kitchen!!! I can actually smell them and all I hear is everyone talking about them. HELP!!!!
  • I have the same problem. Once we put the kids to bed at 8:00, it seems like the perfect time to break out the snacks. I know this sounds dumb, but I've started brushing and flossing my teeth right after the kids go to bed. Flossing is another thing I've always wanted to do for myself, but never did. This way, I don't want…
  • I just wanted to give encouragement to all those out there who don't see results right away. I went for weeks without even one pound lost and now suddenly, I'm down 4 pounds in 2 weeks. I think my body just needed a few weeks to adjust to everything. Don't give up!!!
  • Usually I'll have a Hershey's dark chocolate w/almonds nugget after dinner. Right now, I'm having a mug of sugar-free suisse mocha by International Delights - only 30 calories and really takes the chill off this 16 degree day!
