I live in Saskatchewan. -5 F (-20 C) is considered balmy by Christmas/New Year's =) That said snow shoveling is a great workout and we get piles so I'm not too worried about cardio. I have a bunch of DVDs that I want to get back into from Belly Dancing to Insanity that are indoor friendly.

85g dry is the suggested serving. I like 40-50 g for dry pasta (closer to 40 for shapes and 50 for long) About 100g for fresh pasta for a normal meal (I only make long pasta from scratch).

Eat small portions of everything. Peppers are evil. Never mix dairy with tomatoes or fish. Potatoes must be peeled before cooking. Life would be better if we all got milk from cows not cartons. Butter shouldn't be dyed. Good food is more important than good clothes. Land is important because it means survival (garden,…

Have you tried fermented soy products? Some are quite yummy. North America consumes enormous amounts of soy as food additives, so chances are if you eat any prepackaged foods you already consume a fair amount of soy. Tofu, etc in North America can be GMO, and is usually marked if it isn't. In Canada, not sure about the US…

Isn't a TDEE of 1700 pretty normal for chubby inactive women?

Billions of people lose weight without worrying about macros. I look at them because of health issues unrelated to weight loss.
-
No, but I never drank much.

I have a soda stream, it makes salt free, sugar free, bubbly water that I can add my own flavours too. You can take a bottle to work with you, it will stay bubbly for at least 6 hours (may be longer, but that is the longest I have personally left it). I've used fruit juice, concentrated tea and honey, and a few all natural…

Inspirational. Thank you for sharing!

Nope, any story involving a woman that looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp should really be shared =) OP, you are 100% right to be annoyed that people are lying to you.

Iced caps. I make them at home all the time, then I had one from Tim Hortons, came home, checked it...it was 600 calories! I didn't expect it to be low cal (it's covered in whipped cream) but I wasn't expecting it to be 6 times my at home total either =p

Drinking water works better unless you have a medical condition that is causing retention, but don't go to extremes and drink too much too fast. Stick to a few liters a day or you can get "water drunk".

It`s basically a noodle soup right? You'd need to add veggies somehow, but in general soups, especially clear broth soups, are very good for you.

But how can people feel all superior if they aren't telling people they are WRONG!!! Personally I'm happy with my erratic calorie intake, and intentionally pushing my calories up makes me feel yucky and has lead to health issues. I'd rather eat 600 - 1800 calories a day (averaging around 1150), and donate the rest to the…

Have you had your blood sugar checked/monitored?

35,000 would be 10 theoretical pounds, but your body can only process so much so most of it would be wasted and just pooped out.
-
Yes. Everyday. I eat anyways.

It told me to eat the foods I already liked, and to avoid the foods that I didn't eat or made me ill, however I feel that is likely coincidence since the diet has neither scientific nor overwhelming circumstantial evidence backing it up.

Maybe they set their activity level to the right amount at the beginning, but they like to track their exercise too, so eating back exercise calories is redundant?

You all look lovely! Congrats on your results!

The webpage for the restaurant, asking for a basic food prep breakdown at a mom and pop shop and estimating using 15 years of nutritional information that is logged in my head, etc. My food scale has the calorie and macro nutrient breakdown for fruits, veggies, nuts, meats, etc. I write that down in my personal log, and…

I hate eating out. They seem to do their best to give you the grossest food, in the hugest portions, filled with as many calories and salt as possible, at moderate prices. It's not worth it.

How is the pitbull still alive? I don't ask that sarcastically. Any of our horses would have killed the dog if it came within striking distance with intent to bite/attack, especially if they had a rider to protect. They regularly take down coyotes, rattle snakes, and have warned dogs that charged, but stayed a respectful…

Depends on the tea, some are diuretics. If you dip a herbal teabag a few times in tepid water you aren't transferring much to your cup and it is basically water. If you drink stronger tea then you are transferring more to your cup and I don't count it as water anymore. That said I aim for 3 L of liquids, not necessarily 2L…

My husband and his need for me to eat similar portion sizes to him. 5 years, way too many pounds, and I was fat and stress eating when we first met. It's a constant battle to convince him that I am fine, and actually way happier, eating about a fifth of what he eats, but it is a battle I am willing to fight. I also had a…

Do the workouts then decide. I ate like a piglet on Insanity because you need every calorie for energy if you are pushing yourself through the workouts. And in 2 months that I did it there wasn't a day I didn't push. To build muscle you need extra calories and work. To lose fat you need a deficit and aerobic workouts.…

You eat Cadbury Bubblies very frequently, and similar low nutrient, high calorie foods. That may be an easy calorie cut, or replace half those calories with fruit and veg.
