I've tried both. Most of my success has been from calorie counting. I have tried "clean" eating, Low carb, and other ways of eating that guide away from counting, but I never had good results besides a few pounds of water. Lost 10 pounds counting calories alone this month :)

Try tracking inches. You're not doing anything wrong. 11 lbs in 3 months is about a pound a week, which is good steady weight loss. Weight loss like that is also easier to maintain.

I think that is an old myth. I don't get home until 5pm, and by the time I get settled and cook, we don't eat until 6:30 or 7pm. I lost the most weight when I was on 2nd shift actually. Lunch was at 6pm and dinner was at around 11:30pm.

What I normally do is research the menu ahead of time, and find a very low calorie main dish for dinner. For the remainder of the day I'll eat very light to save some calories, so I may have a dessert. Depending on your dessert though, it may not matter. For me the scales goes down quicker without the gym, but with it people actually notice the weight loss. I'd rather workthout and stay strong than worry so much about the weight loss.

I can't say that it's working for weight loss yet, but I have seen that I have been over estimating my burn. MFP gives me 1260 calories to burn 2 lbs a week, but if I look at my burn per my FitBit, it's like 1000 cals a day for 2 lbs. Of course that changes with activity. SOOOOOO guilty of this. I've had to stop keeping certain snacks in the house, because I can really rack up some calories with anything bit size that I think, "it's just a bite"... And another, and another. and another. I have to learn if I'm really hungry, it's time to eat, not just hold off my hunger with grazing.

I tried LC in the past and once I lost all the water and bloat, I didn't lose another darn pound. Most of my weight loss has some from portion controlled meals and working out.
