Thank you all! I'm sure some people have no trouble doing one but its Monday and I'm still sore!

Yes, Tough Mudder (my first, but already signed up for another one!). Should have clarified that.

Yup! Saturday as well! Yeah it was cold. The wind was horrible! I had to retie a shoe around mile 10 and had a hard time getting my fingers to do it!

My opinion has always been that if you can't get a decent workout at a PF, it's your fault. I also consider it a perk that the staff is inattentive. That's how they are at the one I go to as well, but I'm not there for conversation or to make friends. I honestly don't think I've said a word to anyone since I've been going.…

After a bad day at work I went to the gym instead of overeating.

Old thread bump. Anyhow....I've never done one and am in no way ready for it, but am registered for April 2014 in PA.

Congrats! There's something cool about hitting that magic number and setting a new goal. Like you, I started the C25K app back in July or August, not positive. I followed it to a T up until the end of week 3 because my knees hurt so bad I could hardly walk. At this point I was using a treadmill for all of it. I abandoned…

If I had the space or money I'd be interested in doing it myself, at home.....but I don't. I certainly can't afford the cost to join their gym. I have an odd fascination with it though. All I've really seen are youtube videos and the crossfit games so I feel like I'm not in good enough shape to even try. It's probably not…

I don't have answers to your questions but I am doing a similar run on October 19 and am every bit as excited as you are. Will be following along to read replies.

I never wanted to say that I was addicted to food because I feel the same way you (the OP) does...addictions are simply weaknesses that could be overcome if the addict wanted to. I feel that way about smoking, drinking, gambling, drugs, food, all of it.... I'm not a psych major and don't pretend to be but I think people…

I do plenty of strength training as well :) I guess I was just curious since the ultimate goal is to burn calories. I don't mind doing 35-40 minutes on one machine but I think my (completely uneducated, unprofessional) opinion is that I'd rather do different things and use different muscles than always repeating the same…

Looks like the longest run (time-wise) burned the most calories and the shortest the least. Seems to make sense.
-
Congratulations! But more importantly, thank you.

I'm not a 'good' jogger, not even a fair one. Jogging a whole 5k is JUST barely out of reach yet, but close. It took me about 3 weeks to get over the "holycrapithinkimgonnadie" feeling. Even now within the first few minutes I feel totally exhausted but once I make it over that initial hump I'm ok. Just keep going, it gets…

Dawn of the Lititz Dead 5k. It's in October...I got time yet.

I work nights so my times are backwards from most people but my answer is "either". Some days I feel like going in the morning after work, some days I'm tired when I get home but I'lll get up a little early in the afternoon and go.
-
I work 3rd shift so I usually take Mondays as a rest day because 1) I usually do some form of exercise Friday/Saturday/Sunday and 2) When I switch back to a night shift schedule at the beginning of the week I'm usually pretty tired. I sleep a lot on Mondays.

Yesterday I ran 2 miles. Working up to 5k.

I tore my ACL about 11 years ago and never got it fixed (no health insurance + young and dumb). Now days if I know I'm going to be doing something that could hurt it I'll put a light brace on it. The only thing that really makes it hurt is running on a treadmill, but running outside is fine. Don't ask me why.
-
That's intense....but sounds awesome.

It took a few weeks but once I got an eating plan in place that I could stick with I rarely find myself hungry. I actually feel like I'm constantly eating, haha. I can always hold at or below my calories but sodium has been a killer for me. I hate to cook so I'm big on pre-packaged/processed stuff which tends to have a lot.
-
I have a TON of respect for anyone who would even try this. I can't even wrap my brain around running that far Good luck!

Pepper spray. And I say that as someone who cares more about his dogs than most people. I'm not trying to sound mean or cruel but it's not unreasonable to say that you should be able to be outside without being attacked by a dog. The owner saying "stand still and he won't bite you" is no consolation.

Thanks...I hope so! Thinking of wearing my GoPro for proof!
-
YES. I feel like I slam into a wall almost as soon as I start but then it almost feels like I go on autopilot and just cruise.

I've never been much of a runner but started it about a 6 weeks ago on a treadmill. I finished week 3 but it made my knee hurt something fierce. I switched to the elliptical a 3 weeks ago and the knee pain has gone away so 2 days ago (Sunday) I tried running again but on a trail, not a treadmill. I finished the 1 mile loop…

My gf and I are doing a Run For Your Lives-esque 5k in October. I am optimistic that I will finish "alive".

I can relate. Many times I've tried to lose weight before I'd end up starving myself and then lose all self control when I finally couldn't take it anymore. I would physically feel worse after I ate all that junk, plus feel the guilt of what I did. This time I figured out a healthy eating plan where I don't get hungry so…

From my limited experience I would say yes but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell me that I'm wrong. Obviously you have to run, so there's that. I'm trying to remember the obstacles now. I remember balancing on beams that were actually pretty high off the ground, running through a field of tires, swimming maybe…

I signed up for one of those Zombie 5k's in October so I'm kinda in the same boat. I did the Warrior Dash 2 years ago but couldn't really say that any one thing was more important than the other. We had to crawl under stuff, jump over stuff, swim, climb, balance...pretty much everything.
