If people want to start being picky on the terminology this much, then we could start to talk about how "weight" is a very loosely defined concept and what we should really be talking about is mass and density. Weight is just a calculation based on mass and gravity.

Let's do this! I'm onboard LIKE A BOSS

If you can find a local running club that will be a great help. There may be one near you even if you've never heard of it - I had no idea there was one near me until recently, even though I now know it's been around for years. Ask around your friends (maybe put it on Facebook?) and you should be able to find one pretty…

The sweat would just go further to convince them you're still an unfit porker. Only you would know better. It's like espionage. Sorta.

I have a tip to get around this. As you lose weight, begin to wear a fat suit every day. Make the fat suit increasingly large by adding extra cushioning as you lose more and more, so your weight loss is completely invisible. Then when you've lost 50lbs take the fat suit off and give everyone a shocker, and get it all over…

I would also recommend Scoobys workshop, I find him really good. Although I didn't know he did stuff especially for women so can't recommend them specifically.

If you don't know what you're doing at all, be careful with free weights. You don't want to injure yourself. I'm not saying you shouldn't do them, just go steady, don't try to do too much too soon, and if there's anything you're not comfortable with it's ok to ask someone to be your spotter. If you really want to use free…

Pick up a cheap set of calipers to get much more accurate measurements, they're dirt cheap on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BODY-FAT-TESTER-CALIPERS-MANUAL-BODY-FAT-CHARTS-/120756254812?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Dieting_Slimming_ET&hash=item1c1da2385c

Did you fill in that site using the waist measurement or with calipers? Basing a body fat on just a waist measurement can't possibly be accurate, you'd need at least a few measurements from different parts of the body.

While obviously nobody's main goal at the gym is to look pretty... it doesn't hurt if you can look good at the same time as working hard

Sweating is like wearing glasses. They both make hot girls hotter, and ugly girls uglier.
-
They can aid weight loss if used as a meal replacement, which seems to be what the first replyer is doing. But this is not how they are meant to be used.

I wish I could! The free weights area of my gym is always rammed :(

People in this thread keep saying I'm eating too many calories but I only eat 2000+ because I'm eating back my exercise calories, which is what everyone says I'm supposed to do. My MFP target is 1710, and I usually burn off anywhere from 300-800 calories a day at the gym, which is why my calorie intake is high after eating…

Is this anything more than nitpicking on the terminology? No, there aren't lower and upper abs. It's all one muscle. But there are upper and lower parts of this muscle. You say potato, I say potato.

You know what - I hate to be an arsehole, and be the only one saying this, but in all honesty I can't see much of a difference. I wouldn't want to say I can just to pander to your insecurities (I hate it when people do that to me!) BUT I'm convinced that there is a difference, because there's no way you can lose 35lbs and…

I wasn't ... I am now :) Just now I had my GF log my measurements for the first time. Bit shocked at the size of my hips haha!

I guess when I say medium weight, I mean it relatively. I lift progressively, more and more as often as I can, but what I mean is just that I don't just lift my 1-rep max, I aim to set the weights I use so that I can do 3 sets of around 8-15 reps. For example a few weeks ago I was pressing 75kg, and when I found myself…

Its only 2500 cals today because Ive eaten back my exercise calories from a monster gym session this morning. 4 glasses of water was only up to date when I logged it a few hours ago. I'm up to 6 now and thre's still 4 hours left i nthe day :)

The code seems ok, have you moved or renamed them on photobucket sicne gettign the links for them? This would break the URLs

Well guys after reading back through this thread, I had a good look ay my eating habits. I was convinced that I was eating a deficit and doing so in a fairly healthy way. Having thought about it more, I think I may have been underestimating how many "treat days" I've been allowing myself to get away with recently. A pizza…

Exactly!

Yes, 5lbs is 5lbs no matter what makes up that weight. This is not a revelation to anybody over the age of 5. I didn't realise I was going to have my words picked apart, otherwise I'd have chosen them more carefully. Of course I meant to say that muscle mass is more dense than fat.

Haha! No, I am not a troll :) Yea I do cardio but probably not as much as I should. Usually around 15 minutes per gym session, sometimes more but never more than half an hour. I find it very easy to get/stay motivated when doing strength training because I enjoy it, but I really don't like putting myself through cardio so…

Wow, I just used that link with some rough measurements and it put my body fat down to 19% instead of 28%. Maybe the earlier poster was right and my weight watchers scales are wildly inaccurate. When I get in tonight I'll be doing it properly with accurate measurements. Thanks!

I don't really have any before photos, maybe it's time I started taking some now so I can compare again in a few weeks/months... I can describe what the before/after pictures would look like though. My body shape has changed, because my shoulders and chest are a *lot* bigger from the muscle mass. Shirts don't fit me round…

I don't bother logging it but yea I drink water. Usually 2 large glasses (guessing about 500ml glasses) during the day at work, then at least a litre while at the gym, and probably another pint when I get home.
-
Ok I made my diary public now. I havent been logging much recently (I log in my head but dont put it on MFP) but I have done for the last couple of days, and for so far today. Thanks for all the responses guys I'm gonna go through a little later when I've got a spare half hour and make some notes on all the combined…

Oh yea I forgot to mention I'm also having protein shakes. At least 2 a day, sometimes 3. I have one as soon as I get to thwe office, which is the closest I get to a breakfast. The shakes I have are the ones with almost no carbs in (only 4g per serving) so I don't think they could be blamed for the lack of fat loss though.…

Diet is sort of OK. I indulge a little here and there but usually I'm not too bad. Breakfast: I don't usually have anything. I know I should but I'm never up early enough to have time before work. Lunch: Usually have a couple of wraps with tuna mayo (light mayo). Maybe snack on some fruit during the day too. Dinner:…
