Thank you will ask for a full body work out with compound workouts - sometimes if my arms ache too much on weight days i'll finish off with some cardio to ensure i get as much time in as possible. My diet is as clean as I can get it now with nothing processed and as much veg, fruit and protein as possible.

sidesteal did you miss point 7) stop drinking alcohol? Will be changing my beginner weight programme from weight machines to free weights from next week so hoping this will move things in the right direction. At the minute I'm spending an hour in the gym 4 times a week, 2 cardio days and 2 weight days - is this enough?

rileysowner - I'm going to cut out the ab cruncher and torso as these to me are just pointless, create too much pressure on the back. I'll be asking for free weight exercises in the couple of weeks as you have mentioned above. Hopefully see better development than the machines. Just finding it hard to eat that many…

Thanks both, will see what 4 weeks makes of me and see if any slight changes start to happen. Wonca I'll probably try a programme on the treadmill for run 2 mins then jog etc and mix it up a little more. Always find that when i do cardio i tire to early and my legs ache even though I've warmed up with a brisk walk on the…

Hey there, I have only just started at the gym and back in my day loved to run. So for me now after a while on the treadmill or push bike my legs are constantly tired even a week down the line. Once i finish a workout i'll have a protein shake straight away and ensure that i've got enough protein in me before i work out.…

That's great thankyou for the advice I will try that. Your right I've been trying too much to bike in the top gear as much ax I can. I'll knock it down a few to let me recover. I'm trying not to rest on the pedals just keep peddling even the downhills.

I agree will take time but think I need to either up the protein a little more for further recovery or get some more long distance rides in to break the pain barrier. I have a protein shake after my work out followed by eggs so trying to get as much in as possible!

-
That's great I have just set my diary to public so hopefully you guys can see where I need to improve. All I eat is healthy food nothing from a packet and drink lots of water each day. I think the shakes would be good for after a work out to help restore and help my muscles recover. Think I'll enjoy this site :)
