What about C25K did you not like? Unfortunately for what you are looking to do it is exactly what you need. In general you start with walking, move to walking with some running, start running with a walk for breaks and next thing you know you are running full force. The nice thing about C25K is it works out the 10%…

I was disappointed with my Insanity results, After the workouts i was dripping with sweat and extremely exhausted. I got a HRM and learned that I was only burning 300-350 per session. Now that is not a bad burn considering the real workout (in the first month) is less than 20 minutes - I spent 15-20 minutes in zone. But…

Without logging you do not know what you are consuming. I am sorry but it takes about 10 minutes to enter the days food into MFP if you are serious with this than take the time to log. As others have said you need to redefine the healthy weight to lose. At 5'7 190 lbs is not huge - you need to cut 3500 calories a week to…

If you are not pregnant - going 3 months without a period is the sign of a problem - go see your doc.

One - you look great! So from some of the stories you discussed. What gym do you go to? I am sorry but that behavior just sounds so incredibly immature - is it at a high school or college? Maybe find a different place to workout - that is an atmosphere no one wants to be around. In terms of the kids - my daughter calling…

I have been going through some stuff as well and being on this MFP journey has really come full circle. You need to focus on you. The only thing that I can change is me. I cannot change other people's actions but I have 100% control over my reactions. My personal mantra is to be proud of every decision I make and my…

Yes - I completely agree. I have also found that when I first started people were very supportive - now that I am actually losing I hear that I don't eat enough or you need to treat yourself sometimes.. I eat plenty! And I do treat myself when I want and no just because its Saturday I do not want to eat the crappy cake you…

Hey I did the fit test today...anyone else starting out please friend ME and we can work to motivate each other... I posted all my stuff in my blog feel free to read

I am with you! I am in the throws of it right now and I feel miserable! I feel bloated and yucky... and oh yeah all I want to do is eat! I avoid the scale at all cost during my TOM. I weight weekly so skipping that week is nice because I generally see a nice loss at my next weigh in.

I would definitely talk to your doctor. Something similar happened to me a couple months ago - I started to feel very out of breath - copy days later I had a full fledged head cold. If you are feeling sick and having chest issues it is better to take a few days off.

watermelon - I love sweets at night - so in the summer I always have watermelon - at 40 calories a cup it is a perfect snack

Not cringing every time I see a picture of myself!!!

Try meetup.com - if a running group does not exist - create one. Personally I have no fear - according to my husband I am should have some :-)... One thing I know from working in the city - when running outside if you are alone, have your phone with you and accessible, stay in a well lit area, map out/drive where you will…

I personally love the summer. Here are some reasons why the summer is better for me: Watermelon Swimming Rita's water ice (sugar-free water ice and fat free soft serve) Grilling EVERYTHING!!! Being Outside Going to the farm (luckily we have a bunch near by) Farmers Markets - cheap awesome veggies and fruits Knowing that…

Weekends are definitely tricky - here are some things I do * Always make it to the gym Sat and Sun morning. They have some awesome boot camp classes at my gym that are a crucial workout and fun! *Always have an active activity planned - for me its summer so there are lots of choices - we go swimming, pick fruit at a farm…

If you can get a HRM go with that. If not - enter your weight on the bike and enter what the machine calculates. If that is not an option google for an activity calculator. I have found that MFP is ALWAYS wrong and it can go in either direction (too high or too low). A heart rate monitor is really your best bet. What…

Keep it up! I know its hard I am a working mom and it is tough! It is also really hard when you have been down the road before, but stay with it! Feel free to add me we can keep each other motivated!

I love this site and love having friends to help each other - feel free to add me!

You look great! I am really interested in starting to lift but unfortunately I do not have a gym buddy to help with spotting etc. Do you think you can get similar results from the machines?
-
Thanks for all the info. I really do not think that I can afford a trainer - so where do I start in creating and maintaining a strength routine?

Eating rice with dinner should not be a cheat - find a way to work it in. You need to find something that you can live with.

I am so sorry for your loss. I think that right now you will do best taking some small steps. I have found that exercise can be a great stress reliever - I say just do it and see if it helps! And while food may temporarily soothe your loss, why not try to think of things that may truly help. Do you have any hobbies to…

I had been steadily gaining weight. One day in the car my husband suggested that I start working out again. I was appalled! His rationale - he loves me no matter what however it was really clear I did not love myself - I started to dress sloppily (none of my clothes fit), I refused to be in pictures and I was basically…

The ride was suggested to me by a friend. He has done this ride for several years and says that this has consistently been the case...

I saw this question posed but why cut out meat? Protein is important for our diet and helps us to feel full. I have been up and down with my weight - after my son was born I it has been the hardest for me to lose weight - not sure if it is that I turned 30, had y second child or the repercussions of all my ups and downs -…

First congrats on your loss! I think that a lot of really great points have been mentioned - * Try to change up your exercise - definitely add in some strength training building up your muscle will increase your metabolism * Try some clean eating and watch the sodium - I did not lose for 2 weights and I could tell it was…

Thanks for all the posts - these are extremely helpful and are making me feel better... I know that personally I do better in the gym - on the treadmill or in spin class I keep going but out on my own - it is just easier to give up - and that is something that I need to work on (pushing myself and not relying on the…

I am sorry but I find some of these responses offensive. I know alcoholism. I have family with it, I majored in psychology. According to the DSM there are 7 signs of alcoholism - and none of those are listed within the OP. So unless you are a therapist with a detailed understanding of this person's life stop labeling…

I was under by about 300 calories. I made sure to go to the gym and get in a crucial cardio in the morning. Then since I was cooking I made everything using Cooking Light recipes - BBQ Chicken, Shrimp and Sausage, Baked Beans Grilled Asparagus, Corn on the Cob and watermelon for dessert. Everything was delicious no one had…
