  • I totally understand how hard it can be to get back into the rhythm. I recently went on a 4 day vacation where I decided that I was going to eat whatever and whenever I wanted, and boy did I! I got home and used the vacation as an excuse to blow off my next scheduled workouts. I mean, I was tired, and a full week off seems…
  • I think I have you beat on this one. My husband and I went out of town last weekend to spend some time with my mother-in-law over mothers day. She cooked up a huge delicious breakfast and I blew all my calories in one meal. Bacon, orange juice, eggs, pillsbury rolls (YUMM!), hashbrowns.... it was AMAZING! Unfortunately,…
  • WOW!! Between the first and last photo of your post you look 20+ years younger. Amazing job!
  • Yeah, I'm in the exact same place. I try to be really "good" all day and then at night my calorie count creeps up over my goal (my excuse being that as long as I'm eating anything less than maintenance, I should be ok, right??). Hence the losing 5 pounds in 2 months. Disheartening! However, I keep trying to remind myself…

  • Running is a head game. There's a quote that says "Your legs aren't giving out, your head is giving up," which in my case is totally true. I'm re-doing the Couch to 5K (because I quit running over the winter) and even this morning when I REALLY want to give up I do a physical inventory. Can I breathe? Yes. Am I in any…
  • I didn't used to take anything, but my uncle (a firefighter/EMT) was pretty vocal about that not being a good idea. I guess he's seen enough instances where it was needed. Now I tuck my ID in the side of my shoe. I'm interested to see what a Road ID is. I'll have to check that out.
  • I do this as well. If I have any chance with being able to maintain I need to be able to feel like I'm not sacrificing a lot. Eat it, but just a little. Portion control is key. Never eat out of the bag/box/carton and share half of the sweets with coworkers or friends. That way you can't eat any more, even if you wanted to.
  • Hey there! I lost 45 lbs (is that significant?) without any formal plan at all. My cousin had asked me to teach her how to serve a volleyball and I was getting completely out of breath without evening moving my feet. The next day I just started walking/jogging. I would jog as far as I could then walk until I had enough…
  • I run first thing in the morning as well. The first few times I tried it I got so dizzy afterwards that I thought I was going to pass out. A friend recommended that I eat a little something before just to give me a little boost of energy. Now I drink a large glass of crystal light and half of a granola bar on my way to the…
  • I'd definitely go with the pepper spray. I run in the riddle of nowhere, so I take it mostly for the coyotes, but it still gives me peace of mind. It's also not heavy and doesn't bother me when I run (I have one that just clips on to my pants or a shirt pocket).
  • I'm not familiar with Shakeology, but my friend did one of those programs that gives you all the food and tells you what and when to eat it (Nutrisystem, I think), and it seemed to work well. It's definitely worth a shot. I know you may not want to hear this, but I would have a plan B, just in case. I did something similar…
  • That's a tricky one. I've been on both sides of this issue and it sucks for everyone. When I started my current job, half of the office was (in my opinion) obsessed with losing weight and eating healthy foods. It seemed like that was all they talked about, so feeling like the fat kid out probably provoked a few nasty…
  • It depends on your current height and weight. IMO, as long as you're losing weight at a rate you find acceptable I would leave it. Your new lifestyle will be easier to maintain in the long run, rather than cutting WAY back and then having to find a way to keep the weight off after you've reached your goal.
  • That's awesome! I accidentally lost about 45 pounds the year before my wedding. I say accidentally because the wedding wasn't the reason I started working out and eating better, so it just sort of worked out that way. It will be SOOO worth it for you. I love that in all my wedding pictures I look like a skinny mini (well,…
  • Wow! That's absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing your story.
