  • So many tasty ways to have eggs: poached on an English muffin, scrambled with cheese, sunny-side up, veggie omlettes. One of my current favorites is a recipe I saw on the forums for a crustless "quiche". For a single serving I use one whole egg, 1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese, and whatever veggies or seasonings I feel like…
  • If you buy them canned, heating in the microwave is just fine. If you want to cook dried beans, then I'd advise you to invest in a slow cooker (crockpot). They are very easy to do that way. You just soak them overnight and let them cook during the day (or vice versa depending on when you want to eat them).
  • Hmm, well, I've had several. My very first roommate experience was when I moved into the dorms for college. The girl I shared a room with did not get along with me at all. She was so obnoxious. She would talk loudly on the phone while having the TV on full volume and listening to the radio... I'm a quiet person who can't…
  • If you read threads around here for long you'll come across at least a few people who believe any food you could name is evil and unhealthy for some reason. Seriously, everything. I had a co-worker who was on a diet for a while where vegetables were discouraged.... Personally I find that dairy, cheese included, really…
  • Firework by Katy Perry Very embarrassing to admit I like anything by her, but it's such a sweet song.
  • Salads make great lunches. Just pack the ingredients separately, especially the dressing, so that it doesn't get an unpleasant texture. (I always add canned chicken, tuna, or some leftover meat from the previous night's dinner to make the salad more filling and get in more protein.) Soups can work well if there are any…
  • I'd second the recommendation for soup at lunch. You can make a lovely soup with lots of veggies and some sort of protein. If you make a large pot on the weekend, you could have lunches for all week. And there's lots of great soup recipes out there, so hopefully you won't get too tired of them. I'll also second the…
  • I've lost about 80 pounds, and the thing that has made the most difference for me is lifting heavy. I've done some resistance training and light lifting since fairly early in my journey. But since I started actually heavy lifting back in March I've seen huge improvements in my upper arms and belly. And the scale says the…
  • I'm 5'5". Currently my hips are 42" and I wear size 12 in most brands (still 14s in a few). I hope to get into 10s too. Should be another 2 to 3 inches. I think somewhere between 38 to 40 should fit in most size 10s(US) these days.
  • There are lots of these sorts of restaurants locally. Some have great food and service, others don't. I quite enjoy going to Brickhouse. It's set up with a sort of "man cave" environment with comfy leather couches for the booths and lots of TVs showing sports. The waitresses all wear black tops and denim bottoms (of…
  • I definitely use various jerkies (beef, turkey, buffalo) to get more protein. It's delicious and works well to meet my goals. The only thing I don't like is the cost. Lol. I buy the organic stuff that doesn't contain preservatives and has lower sodium and it works out to be about $2 per serving. But it's nice to have…
  • Snow White and the Huntsman, 2 stars :frown: I wanted to like it, but the story was very chaotic. It seriously lacked any direction. The week before I saw The Avengers. Awesome movie, definitely 5 stars.
  • Aw, you should work in my office. We have donuts in the break room every Friday. These donuts have even been on Food network a few times (Round Rock donuts). Fortunately for me they usually only get the regular glazed and chocolate glazed. Those are easy to pass up. Every now and again they'll bring in the cake donuts…
  • Diablo 3 and cold-brewed iced coffee are my current addictions.
  • I think it was ST:TNG that truly cemented my geekiness, so it will always have a special place in my heart. But the original Star Wars movies are completely epic.
  • It's hard to say without seeing what you eat. First, make sure you are drinking enough. Dehydration can cause that sort of problem. Also be sure you are eating enough healthy fats. When I tried the low fat thing my body seriously objected. Anything less than about 35g of fat per day and I have bloating and constipation…
  • I use an olive oil that comes in a mister bottle (http://global.filippoberio.com/products/product-range/olive-oil-spray/). It distributes the oil well, and you don't need much. And since it's just olive oil it's safe to use on non-stick pans.
  • I haven't lost any length, but the width has changed. I went from a D to a B (which is the average width ladies shoes are made in America). Definitely a bit easier to find shoes now that I don't need wide widths.
  • Not sure where you live, but the no texting or talking on the phone is strictly enforced at most theaters here. If you're caught doing it or reported by someone else in the theater you'll be escorted out and not allowed to finish watching the movie.
  • We usually serve it as a side dish with some type of sausages (bratwurst, kielbasa, etc.), roast pork loin, or pork chops. I usually make it Bavarian style: rinse and drain the sauerkraut well. While it's draining, slice some onions (and apples if you like) and fry them in a skillet with just a bit of butter. When they are…
  • If I'm going to have bacon I prefer the Irish style (rashers). It's kinda like Canadian bacon, but not as salty.
  • I'd either log it as walking, or if it's a pretty regular thing, just change your activity level setting up a level or two to active or very active to account for that extra activity without having to log it each time.
  • I usually use some type of 2% cheese or a part-skim mozzarella. I also love putting dollops of ricotta on pizza and often order it at my favorite pizza places too. It gives a nice creamy texture and somewhat cheesy flavor. As for other toppings: mushrooms, caramelized onions (just tastes better to me if the onions are…
  • Well, quite honestly it was my doctor telling me that if I ended up on high blood pressure meds I wouldn't be able to take hormonal birth control. The pill is the only thing that makes my PMDD bearable. So I started in on a regular exercise schedule to get my blood pressure under control. Losing the weight is a wonderful…
  • Well, sushi is my favorite... but if I'm eating canned tuna I love it on a tossed green salad with a tasty vinaigrette. And if I have the calories to splurge a bit, I really like tuna melts.
  • I gave in and got a bodybugg for that very reason. It was so hard to tell where I was, and now that I want a rather moderate deficit, it's easy to misjudge. I'd be very suspicious of anything that estimates more than 10 calories per minute unless it's a very vigorous exercise.
  • Other than how much you are eating, what you are eating can greatly affect your moods. When I tried a very low fat diet I was cranky all the time. Now that I've switched things up and get more of my calories from healthy fats I'm generally much happier. When I was only eating about 30 to 35g of fats a day my digestion was…
  • I haven't ever been pregnant, but I have lost around 80 pounds and was rather apple-shaped. Heavy lifting is definitely improving the appearance of my belly. I haven't lost inches yet, but I have seen improvements in shape and tone. Things are definitely starting to firm up and be less saggy and squishy. I've been doing…
  • My skin is oily and extremely sensitive. I've had the best results with a brand named derma e (www.dermae.com). Their Very Clear Problem Skin line has really helped clear up my skin and has not caused any irritation at all. You can often find their products at Whole Foods, Sprouts, or other similar stores.
  • Welcome to MFP. :flowerforyou: Posting is a great way to introduce yourself. Are you looking for specific sorts of friends? (Ones with particular goals, locations, age ranges, etc.?) Feel free to add me if you're just looking for general support and encouragement.
