Howdy, I'm Gorman. I've been using mfp for almost two months. I want to lose weight so I can be more active. My diet is plant-based, and I've been doing hour walks every day, which is hard as I live on the gulf coast--hot, hot, hot! I'm a mommy to a beautiful, almost-three-year-old corn snake named Teosinte :)

If you're doing the typical 1 pound/week setting (-500 calories/day), you're still 100 calories under maintenance!

Your lower abdomen definitely looks flatter!

The sugar tracker is useless, as it doesn't distinguish between natural and processed sugar. I don't use it, I track something else instead.

Yeah, another obese class III here. I'm too impatient for 10lb goals. I buy myself some clothes or exercise equipment every Five pounds! I think I will also be happy just to be overweight again. I'll certainly change my goals to .5 pounds/week at that point.

I will do it if I want to make sure to have enough calories for something in particular, or if I'll be eating away from home for dinner. I can always go back and change it if I end up eating something different.

The bro science I hear the most is that homogenized peanut butter is the devil, so: http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/pr/2001/010612.htm "No Trans Fats in Peanut Butter--Contrary to Current Rumor Recurring rumors that commercial peanut butters contain trans fats--which appear to increase risk of cardiovascular disease--have no…

No, I don't even track it anymore. Just having a healthy amount of fruit every day will be over, it's pretty useless.

See if your doctor will give you a referral to a dietician.

Thanks for making this thread. I had a...less than ideal weekend. Haven't been beating myself up about it, but an extra dose of perspective is definitely appreciated.

I also like them just soaked overnight. If you have a fridge (I'm making no assumptions at this point!), then they'll be nice and cold, which is great on summer mornings.

Fruits and vegetables in general are good sources, especially per calorie. I would start by eating both at every meal, and then you can reassess from there.

Good! I think we all are guilty of trying to over-complicate things at one time or another.

Did anyone already mention the Battlestar Galactica reboot? Love the show, but the ending was pure silliness.

Off topic, but thank you for this. Somehow it had never occurred to me to use google to find the length of my walking routes!

Yes, trail mix style snacks are awesome! I'd suggest portioning them into different size amounts, so you can be flexible if you find something at the hospital you want to eat also.

I know, right? Asparagus is...ok, but nothing to write home about. But Brussels sprouts are nature's veggie truffles of goodness!
-
I love pasta sauce with cooked spinach! Of course, I also love it with potato gnocchi :)

Ooo, it's been too long! *adding frozen Brussels sprouts to shopping list* /brofist Joshacham

I gained weight because I didn't care about my health. Now I do.

I like eating couscous, as it's easy to measure portions. That's a great idea with the shredded broccoli. I'll have to try it!
