My NSV today is that I experienced exercise 'hunger'! I injured the skin on my heel a few days ago and have either been skipping exercise or making do with a stationary bike, which has made me antsy for my usual walk. Today was my first day back on my usual routine, and not only was I able to make it at speed, but my body…

I'm going to echo a lot of other people here and recommend walking. Especially when combined with sunshine, trees, water, etc. In Japan they have a word, shinrin-yoku "forest bathing", for taking a walk through the woods for mental health.

It will get more chatty during August :)

I thought about getting one of those, but there were so many negative reviews. How do you like yours? Well now that I have a new phone, I've started reading my e-books on it, so I doubt I'll buy another dedicated e-reader.

Walking is an excellent way to begin exercising. When you are closer to goal, you will want to consider adding strength training.

I've noticed the same thing! I'm a very visual person though, so I think it's just easier to feel the difference than see it.

I'm back! I made it two-thirds of the way through July; let's see if I can do better this month. I have a plant-based diet and have been getting most of my exercise from walking. I'm hoping to add more yoga and strength training this month. My recent NSV is that I can now reach behind me and pull my foot up toward my gluts…

I seem to average between 10-14%, usually closer to 10% of my calories. So about 2/3 of mfp's recommendations. I am content with this.

What's interesting is that a Tablespoon of cumin seeds (which is about 20 calories) has over 20% DV of iron!

. . . ascorbic acid = vitamin C

I only drink diet soda occasionally, rather than every day. I prefer to not be addicted to caffeine. But as long as it doesn't affect your sleep, it's a fairly harmless addiction.

If you're exercising that much, you should be eating at least 1500 calories. It's much easier to stick with a reasonable amount of calories.

Hmm...probably chips and salsa and/or bean dip for breakfast lunch at an Indian buffet and potato gnocchi for dinner the Indian buffet would be the only meal that would be over calories.

I think it's good that you aren't getting too competitive about the clinic challenge. We all lose weight at different rates, and the important thing is to make healthy long term lifestyle changes.

I don't track macros. I have micro-nutrients displayed instead. I will say I'm not afraid of carbs, and my protein intake is less than average.

A Tablespoon of cumin seeds has over 20% DV of iron! (And 100% DV of yummy)

I had a banana, bowl of ready-to-eat cereal with chia seeds and almond milk, and a microwaved sweet potato. I sometimes will have a bowl of grits with sauteed onions and salsa instead.

One week is not a long enough period to evaluate what you are doing. Give it a month at least.

I know what is within me, even if I can’t see it yet. I have something more important than courage; I have patience. I will become what I know I am.

I eat taco bell fresco bean burritos occasionally. I ate them more often when I first started mfp. If you want meaty fast food, the kid's meals would have more reasonable portions.

typical day: 500 breakfast 700 lunch 900 dinner

peanut butter & sauerkraut sandwiches!

I know what you mean, OP. Whenever I buy jelly, jam, or apple butter, it always gets moldy in the fridge before I finish it, because I just don't eat it very often. I've started buying packs of individual serving cups of flavored, unsweetened applesauce instead.

Maybe by taking smaller steps. If you make too many big changes at once, it can be hard to stay with it. Try setting your goal to half a pound per week, you can always change it later on when you feel more motivated.

I have facial hair too, it's probably more common than you think. And it's one bit of cultural conditioning I haven't been able to break, as it's the only hair I feel compelled to remove.

I have never understood the entitled attitude that some people have that strangers should conform their appearance to other people's tastes.

Sending you a FR :)

Sounds intriguing! Thanks for the recommendation.

July 21 Calories: no Exercise: no Tracked: yes I could use my second Day Off and still be within the letter of the law, but I feel I'm no longer within the spirit of the law, so I'm counting myself out. Good luck, everyone!
