Oh, sorry to hear that army. Are there any body positions that help at all? You'll be discussing treatment options with your doctor next week? Congrats, chief! I really like the structure of this group, and I like having our own message board because my news feed is so fleeting. I'm currently experimenting with using a…

I know this is true for me, and I agree with the OP as well. Besides, making judgmental hangry posts isn't going to win anyone over to a particular way of thinking anyway.

^^This. And this: And sullus, I'd just like to add that I find bubble tea very efficacious for self defense. Those thick pointy straws are dependably sturdy.

Comparing sitting to smoking is pure hyperbole, but it's true that sitting uninterrupted for long periods is not good for our health. Just getting up and walking around a little a few times an hour is much better.

Margie, I love jigsaw puzzles, just hard to find space to work on them. Congrats on the jobs, you two! I've had a couple of days this week when I had to cut my walks shorter than an hour because of time constraints. Still just walked 30 minutes today, even though I very well could have made time for my full walk. Hopefully…

Then why bother with the fake noodles? Just eat regular pasta.

What are your specific concerns? The nutrients that I personally like to keep an eye on are potassium, calcium, iron, vit A, and vit C.

I saved this recipe recently, but I haven't tried it yet: http://www.effyeahitsvegan.com/1/post/2013/06/vegan-gnocchi.html

When I graduated from college and moved out on my own, I had to spend a little time re-training my mother. Once she realized I was just going to hang up on her any time she was disrespectful to me, our relationship took a turn for the better.

When I see people frustrated with micro-managing their macros, I just want to give them a hug and say it doesn't have to be that hard!
-
What kind of exercise are you doing? You may need to temporarily give up high-impact exercises to give it a chance to heal. If even walking aggravates it, maybe try water aerobics?

Just bought Henry James' What Maisie Knew.

@margie: Haha, how did you not *smell*? My update: Reached one of my mini-goals yesterday. Ordered myself a yoga dvd as a reward. Other than walking, I haven't been able to motivate myself to do other exercises, so I'm hoping dvds will work for me. (@gg: I will also be doing what's supposed to be yoga!) When I was prompted…

Of course a food scale will be most accurate. But this is something I plan on doing the rest of my life, and I'm pretty sure a food scale isn't going to be available every time I eat. I'd rather put some effort into learning how to estimate food portions as accurately as possible without a scale. But if you enjoy it, by…

I measure fruit by fractions of the whole fruit. That's what I'm doing with the half watermelon I bought for the 4th of July.

I love couscous, it cooks so quickly. It's actually a tiny wheat pasta, so you can use it in grain or pasta recipes. I'll just have it with some marinara sauce when I'm feeling lazy. This recipe with peanut sauce looks good: http://veganspoonful.com/2008/11/11/cous-cous-with-peanut-sauce/

Essay #1 One Bowl: A Guide to Eating for Body and Spirit, by Don Gerrard https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/920367.One_Bowl I decided to pick a book about the mental game this time. One Bowl is a classic book about developing a healthy relationship with food that was written almost 40 years ago. A good portion of the book…

I'd buy a lot of dried beans and brown rice, to try to save as much money as possible for fresh fruits and veggies. Would like some peanut butter, whole wheat bread, cereal, and almond milk too.

I had a couple of parties on the 4th. Was worried about going over calories and ended up under-eating a little. I really need to write an essay or two, so I can be more relaxed about these things! Today's my two month mfp anniversary. Lost five pounds this month, bringing my total to 17 pounds lost.
