Wow! Ten years is a long time. I know they can divide the dosage into two times a day instead of one time a day and that seemed to work better for me at the time I was on it. I am off it prematurely- because it did not agree with me- but I wouldn't recommend going off it.

I have before and after pictures of me when I was on Tamoxifen. My face was big and round while I was on the drug. Yes, it is easier to gain weight on the drug so you have to be very careful. Don't forget to get your eyes checked while on Tamoxifen. It screwed up my eye site. It can sometime causes cataracts. After…

I personally choose to avoid flax seed. I live in BC (British Columbia) and at our Cancer Clinic there is an oncologist dietitian that any patients can see for free. We also have a toll free phone number, dial "811" and you can talk to a dietitian, a pharmacist, or nurse for free. In the flyer they gave me, at the Cancer…

If you are having trouble with getting enough veggies, buy a Nutrabullet. It's excellent. You can put a couple of dates in with a cup of spinach and some water and it's excellent. Or spinach and 1/2 banana and some water. It makes it into juice. Nutrabullets have tons of recipes. Mine cost about $89 here in Canada. It…

Welcome to our group! I would love to hear more about how you are staying healthy!

Thanks for the comment. This group is wonderful because it makes me want to become more pro-active about my health. I can see why they say that people who belong to groups, such as this one, live longer. It's because it's hard to fall into the same old destructive patterns when you have others, like yourself, that…

Hi there. I'm such a big fan of this inspiring Ted Talk by Matt Cutts, " 30 day challenge." Here is the link to copy paste into your browser. http://on.ted.com/Cutts And the movie by Joe Cross called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead", if you google both of these you will find them on-line. I couldn't loose weight on 1200…

Thank you for keeping in touch. It sounds as though you may want to consider getting checked for the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene if you are worried about your daughter and you have breast cancer in your family. I had genetic testing and apparently don't have the genes. Stats show that Mammograms do miss a certain large percentage…

When offered a drug or a treatment, I always ask what my statistical increase in life expectancy is. Each person is different and they can calculate the benefit the drug will have. They won't always tell you unless you ask. I ask because I want to know- before I take a drug or treatment- so I can weigh out the risks verses…

Hi Mary. I am glad you are getting your eye doctor to check your eyes while you are on the Tamoxifen. It did permanent damage to my eyes. I now have cataracts and I had angle closure glaucoma caused by the cataracts that were likely caused by the Tamoxifen and I was about 2 weeks away from going blind. I had to have laser…

Hello Hiking3. Yes, I am still moderating the group. It would be lovely if you started a topic. I welcome you to post something. My oncologist told me that those that belong to "groups" live longer for some reason, so...let's do it! I'm excited to hear what you have to share. Signed Gorger(well...no more, I'm at my goal…

Hello Marsha Thank you for joining our group. We are here to support you! MFP is a great way to start. Feel free to friend me if you need some motivation. -Gorger

How did everything go?

Welcome to our group! You are very brave indeed to keep things hush-hush. When I look back I wish I hadn't told anyone either - as the phone calls didn't end; a parade of well wishers unknowingly added additional strain with their repeated requests to make me tell the same old story, over and over again until I had no…

We have a B.C. support group here on MFP. I see you looked under groups and found us. There are 68 of us and our numbers are growing. Thank you for joining us - we offer each other support, encouragement and dieting help.

I had my Yoga teacher show me how to drain the lymphadema of my breast. It's hard to describe, but he put a pillow under my back and I laid on it (facing the ceiling) and draped my arms down on either side of the high pillow and it drained the fluid off in a couple of days after doing this. I also found that changing to a…

Nutribullet 2 cups spinach, one banana and one date with water and blend. Drink the whole thing and you will be good to go. That's 100 calories.

Have you checked out Cushing's disease?

I was tired when I had breast cancer. Fell asleep all the time. Men can get it too. Get a full check up.

Avocados and then one date to sweeten.

You look 20 years younger now. Don't let anyone discourage you. Only take advice from successful people.

Hello Adrienne. Welcome! We all join you in the battle to keep our weight down. I keep my hunger down by increasing my protein and not eating sugar. Cinnamon has been recognized as regulating blood sugar. I found that exercise has very much increased my energy level and has reduced my appetite. There is a recent study in…

Hi TASoto You are so right about exercise...it helped me with my Lymphadema as well. Especially Iyengar Yoga. The pocket of fluid that had accumulated right after the surgery totally disappeared after a couple of sessions of yoga. My teacher had me lie with a pillow under my back and shoulder blades as I hung both my arms…

Exercise really helps. I lost 4 1/4 inches in 3 weeks going to the gym and to curves. I hated exercising until I saw the results.

You are very welcome. Have you tried the Aitkins diet? I lost weight very quickly on it. I avoided the fats and the diet worked incredibly well for me. By the time I had read the entire book I had lost 8 pounds. The library should have the book.

Hello Survivor. You picked a good name:) I'm so sorry to hear your news. I remember the initial impact of the news of cancer and at the time I experienced that same news... I was sure that I was going to die too, and leave my 11 year old daughter alone. She is now 22! and I am alive. I know the fear and fright, very well.…
