  • I've always found workplace gyms to be the worst for inappropriate remarks, etc. If you can find a workout partner to hang with you, that might help - and at least gives you someone to chat with so its easier to ignore the bozo's. Just don't let it intimidate you or stop you working out.
  • First ride of the year... only 16 miles but I'm starting small and hopefully working up to a century ride later this year. Being overweight makes the small hills seem like the Alpe d' Huez, but its great to be riding again.
  • I don't think you should be depressed about things. Be patient and kind with yourself, and take credit for the things you ARE doing. Think about the path you want to take long term - and remember each day is a small step. Find people who will help you along the way (which, since you are here, you already have some). Good…
  • For me it was the nice thick tortilla's I liked.... I had no idea so many calories fit into something so FLAT.
  • I'm trying to lose about the same amount of weight. I'm new to the site but have found that tracking my food and exercise has been a great motivator to keep my on track and focused. • Don't give up dear. You should be giving yourself credit for paying attention to your health and the dedicated effort you put in so far. Be confident that in the long run, you will be successful. You may have to change some strategies and techniques (and I've read some good suggestions from other replies here), but its ok…
  • Try out swimming. I've had swimming and walking in the pool prescribed to me by my physical therapist (post injury). If you can, see someone in that field who can help you build an exercise program that takes your injury into account, and possibly helps that knee. Good Luck!
  • It's hard, but find a partner to go with you. That may be the best option. Or perhaps a big tough dog. I do know people who run/walk at a mall early in the AM, and they like that because its well lit and others are doing the same thing. Do you have a track nearby that other people use in the morning?
  • Not sure, but I used to get the pain going down the staircase after really hard 10K runs when I wasn't quite prepared. Both the quads and hamstrings are working hard when you go down stairs. Might be useful to run less and walk a bit more until your body gets used to it, or ride the bike a bit more instead. Lunges and…
