I had planned to "feed" unrestricted until recovery is over. This is my 3rd, though, and I have a history of gaining 10-20 lbs while breastfeeding. I just want healthy structure while maintaining healthy weight loss. Its supposed to be "common" to lose weight while breastfeeding. I'm not trying to be excessive and if i…

With 30-33% bf, there's plenty of fat to go around. A proper, well planned, and well balanced diet should cover nutritional needs (bm provides a full profile of fatty acids regardless of what i eat). Aiming for 1lb/week while bf-ing could mean my calories go up. There's hardly anything irresponsible or damning about my…

I weigh myself everyday but only log my weight (and measurements) Fridays and Mondays (Weekends are bad for me and I can't manage to control it). The daily weighing this week helped me see a lot of water-weight change. Monday, I was 6 lbs up from last Friday and after 60oz of water, I was down 3lbs the next day. It was…

I get beet red when working out... It doesn't bother me as much now, but 6 years ago, I went to the same gym as my now husband (before we started dating). I hated him seeing me workout because of that red face =p

I'm 30 with a 5 yo son and a 2 yo girl. I'd love to do this together with someone else wit similar goals and life situation.

There are people here who use MFPs calorie burn and only eat back about 1/2 of the exercise calories. Others will use a Heart Rate monitor and use an independent heart rate calories burned calculator to determine their true burn and add those to MFP and eat all the exercise calories back. I use the HR monitor unless I…

"I often tell my students “Your butt is your engine!” to emphasize that power comes from hamstrings and quads. The spinning system is certainly lower body-focused, and it is a common misconception that resistance builds bulk. However, resistance is chiefly used to engage the leg muscle, stabilize bodyweight, and prevent…

I forgot about another one I did... kind of along the lines of the bulletproof + intermittent fasting. High fat + 12 hour fasts. Learned a lot about different oils and that you shouldn't heat good olive oil, but my period stopped and I felt weird. I also did Medifast. I lost 15 lbs in the first month... but then I got…

I'm curious. Is saying obesity is unhealthy considered fat shaming? Is it also a fact? Is saying men in general do not find overweight or obese people attractive fat shaming? Is it a fact? There are two cultures clashing here - the one that gets offended by facts and the one that has no diplomatic filter on their fact…

I always weight myself in the morning before breakfast and after pee-ing (everyone pees in the morning!) That way it is independent of the changes I make during my daily eating, drinking, exercise, activity, and bowel movements. It is a better constant baseline.

There are two sides to this... Fat shaming versus ignoring the consequences of obesity all in the name of making someone feel better about themselves (coddling, enabling, contributing to delusion that they are healthy). I don't really fall into the completely lazy side of the obesity equation, but I am not healthy and I do…

Planks. I can't do them right and have no clue what I'm doing wrong and I can't really afford a PT to work on my form. I've watched so many videos on proper form, I've just given up. Something about how I do them causes back pain. I can't do pull ups, either, but as much as I should care, I don't. Leg exercises are my next…

The beginning of my real weight problems began with a banana diet while pregnant with my first because it was the only thing that tasted "ok" and didn't hurt on its way back up... Yeah... That kind of diet. Put on a lot of weight after the pregnancy because I had been deprived for 8 months and started a roller coaster that…

Stretching doesn't help relieve soreness, per se. But it does help alleviate risk of injury. Pre-Stretching should be avoided, as it loosens muscles and puts them at risk of over-extension. Post-Stretching tightened and sore muscles allows your muscles to maintain flexibility. Even if you are new to exercise, this is…

To the OP, The point of low-carb diets is to decrease insulin responses to glucose. If you are eating no fat, your body is using protein for energy. When protein is used as energy, it is converted to glycogen which causes insulin release. The lack of fat in your diet is self-defeating.
-
Here's the thing no one seems to understand about low-carb/high-fat/high protein diets. You eat what you want and lose weight because you don't WANT to eat more. Fat causes receptors in your brain to signal "I'm Full" and "I'm Satisfied" way before you've over-eaten. And it NATURALLY helps people who struggle with…

Well - healthy fats do increase satisfaction and decrease appetite... so there is that.

I love maxi skirts that sit on my hips.

That Greek Yogurt idea is excellent. Thanks :)

From what I understand about Muscle building is that to USE the muscle enough to break it down effectively in order for it to grow with protein, you need to supply it with energy - and the primary energy muscles use to break down is glycogen... which is converted glucose. So ... carbs. If you are eating at a deficit, your…

I was looking through my kids' baby pictures from when I thought I was fat... And realized how that looks skinny now... There's some pictures of me around the house when I was a nice, healthy weight, and I look soooo skinny. But it wasn't just some light switch. I finally got myself to a place where I'm more active than I…

Here's a question... Even with calorie in/calorie out, don't healthy oils provide other benefits that could affect a "smaller" tummy without burning fat? Such as bowel movement regulation and decrease in bloat? It looks like an increase in healthy fats is also one of the ways to create regularity. Ewwwy, yes... but pooping…

Your comment does not take into consideration medical advise dispensed in an aggressive manner by medical doctors and when government policy is informed by BMI. People have a reasons to have issues with it. The only thing I've seen that has any kind of a negating effect on BMI is the waist to hip ratio.
-
BMI puts me between 115-150 for normal. I feel very happy between 150-160 and don't plan on losing more past 150. But we'll see when we get there. If the lbs will come off, I'll accept them... but I likely won't be pushing those lbs off. I actually have a BF % goal and it is 22 - 25%.

Awesome.

I have PMDD =p I take the first day of my cycle off and rest because of the high levels of pain, but 24 hours later, all my bloat is gone and I'm back in the gym unless my flow has me feeling uncomfortable due to its being really heavy. My pain is bad enough that I was in labor with my first son and didn't know I was…

Ace Fitness has a great website with some body weight exercises for strength training. They are a great start for at home work outs and show forms. http://www.acefitness.org/acefit/fitness-programs/ The other thing I did when starting out on weights was going to the gym and doing the weight machines. They aren't as…

Ah - I'm using the US Navy method of determining BF%. It's probably decently accurate.
-
I understand what you are saying. Unfortunately, other than extrapolating the LBM from BMI weight charts and "Healthy" BF% to determine a "healthy" range, I don't know what to say. I hate BMI charts. They over-simplify and oftentimes, especially for people who hit the gym aiming for weight loss goals, provide an…
