The trick is adding fat and being patient. I found that when I added butter and coconut oil, avocados, olive oil, cheese, etc it made it easier to get over the carb cravings and not feel like I was missing out. That's the physical part. Be patient because it will take your mind and body time to adjust. Its not just a…

I look at those as reminder days.

We use ground turkey because its cheaper here. I have to add fat back in, though. Usually with mayo or cheese.

Love it. Staying away from the Atkins thread. I just don't have it in me today, lol.
-
We have people who eat from slow carb to no carb and everything in between. You'll fit right in!
-
I have no advice but am hoping you post about your experiences for those of us who must live vicariously.

Welcome and feel free to add me. I'm not currently logging but will when and if I hit a plateau. For now, I'm trying to obey hunger cues.
-
'Cause, you know, if you question a certain type of milk the next thing you know you'll be trying to pass a law that won't let them drink said type of milk. Feel sorry for them, for they are hungry and probably out of calories for the day. Probably jittery, too. Probably thanks to the chocolate bar that they are perfect…

Welcome! Feel free to add me.

I've stopped counting calories but will count again when I hit a plateau. So far I haven't gone more than a week without a change on lbs or inches.

Perhaps try eating LCHF and when the need to binge rises practice taking a moment to just assess how you feel. Does it feel physical? If so you may simply need to eat a bit more fat, or it could be a need for sodium. If it doesn't feel physical than it's most likely emotional. If counseling is something you can't do, maybe…

I think I've been so focused on the scale for so long that became the only goal. I tell myself that if I see a change in my "markers" then it's a success that week. I'm ok with the slow loss, though I'd love to be a fast loser. Slow loss is better than no loss.
-
Yep. My knees don't hurt like they did and my heel spurs don't flare up as often.
-
I have to wonder if you're getting enough fat? Maybe ignore the scale for a few weeks and try allowing yourself to eat what you want so long as it is high fat, moderate protein, and low carb. My other idea may not pertain to you and I hope you don't find offense. A lot of MY binge eating was related to past trauma +…

Seafood and and green veggies.

4 months in, 7.5 lbs lost, nearly 14 inches. More importantly I've lost the inflammation in my knees and feet (making my heel spurs much more manageable), the daily fear of my BG levels tanking out, the inability to spend a day out with my family out of fear of the BG levels (I used to get nervous going to the grocery…

At Nerd Fitness they say to change your mind set. Instead of looking at it as cheating look at it as making a mindful decision to eat something you enjoy that will help you stay on track. I try to limit this to things I truly enjoy, homemade Italian wedding cake once or twice a year rather than store bought sheet cake once…

Adding a different spin here. I've been at this since mid-January and have lost 7.5 lbs. Yep, I'm a slow loser. I'm wanting to say congrats on all the great losses but also remind you not to go by just scale weight. At some point the scale may slow down. In the past the slow loss would have caused me to give up. I've lost…

I haven't been counting calories in the past few weeks and I'm still showing losses, though they're slow losses. For years I didn't see any losses so I'm happy with slow. I keep carbs limited to veggies, a little dairy, and the occasional strawberry. On holidays I'll let myself have "bad" carbs but it's right back to low…

Welcome back and glad you're feeling better. I'd do the short hair cut if I could get to the salon more than 2x a year.

Veggies and mayo.

LCHF helps a lot of people stay in a calorie deficit by keeping them satiated easier. A lot of people also lose a lot of weight quickly on LCHF but this is not true for everyone. I'm losing slowly but steadily with no counting or food tracking. Some people find this diet hard to maintain, though. I can tell you it can be a…

Welcome! So sorry about your injury. Hopefully this way of eating will help. Good luck with your surgery.
-
You can add me but I second the low carber group. Lots of support there.

I agree, give it time and find other measurements besides just scale loss. I myself use the scale, tape measure, pictures, how my clothes fit, and comments from others. If I've succeeded on any one of these areas, I consider it a win. Also, good digestion is nothing to sneeze at.

Great job on the NSV. I hope you're feeling healthier as well, and what your mother did may have had good intentions but was wrong. I'm glad you're able to get past that.

I've actually made the switch fairly painlessly. I did eat a tiny bit of pasta on Sunday and wished I hadn't. I used to think I couldn't live without it, now I can't remember what the fuss was all about. There is way more flavor in a dish of veggies, protein, and fat. However, I had to make the switch to LCHF and that made…
