NSV's
I think we need an NSV thread. If there already is one I didn't see it. I think a lot of people come to the low carb way of eating expecting massive weight loss all at once and since that doesn't always happen its good to focus on the other areas LC eating improves. I'll start. Last night I ended up at Walmart and Aldi's,…

Back after a long hiatus and could use some encouragement
Hello, some here may remember me, some may not. I see my NSV thread is still going :) . Anyway, I did LCHF successfully for about 6 months and saw some success, though not much weight loss. My kids' summer schedules, which were far busier than I imagined they would be, took off and I slowly slid back to eating carbs. And…

Kinda weird question about eggs
I eat eggs a lot. I usually eat the large eggs you buy in the store. However, I have a teenager that has chickens for 4H. We don't get a ton of eggs, especially since its so cold but the eggs we do get vary in size. Usually we get a few eggs like you get in the store, but we have a couple bandy (sp?) hens that lay eggs…

Melatonin
Does anyone here, with T2D, take melatonin, and if so have you noticed it effecting your fasting levels? I'm considering taking it to see if it has any effect on the whole dawn phenomenon thing. I need to see my Dr about this but my old one left and the new one went on maternity leave 2 days before I was scheduled to see…

Melatonin
I put this in the low carber group but I'd like to get as many thoughts as possible. Does anyone here, with T2D, take melatonin, and if so have you noticed it effecting your fasting levels? I'm considering taking it to see if it has any effect on the whole dawn phenomenon thing I've been experiencing. I need to see my Dr…

Looking for new low carb veggies to try
What are your favorite low carb veggies? I'm looking for some new ideas. My newest favorite is roasted radishes. I literally eat them at least once a day now, and before I think I'd eaten them maybe 5 times in my entire life. I can take them or leave them raw.

Dessert ideas
So I just found out this week we're planning a super high sugar dessert for one gal's birthday, and then another one for next week. I really, truly, don't want these. I don't. If I don't have an alternative, though, I'm afraid I'll give in to the social obligation to eat them. Does anyone have a good sugar free, very low…

Dawn phenomenon
Are there any diabetics here who experience this? Since going strictly low carb my BG levels are where they need to be except right after I wake up. I've done some reading on it but has anyone found a good way to lower it?

Those who do higher fat/low carb
Do you focus much on calorie count? Here's my problem. I'm supposed to eat low carb and I try. Really, really hard. But when I try to eat like the nutritionists say I'm starving all day long. They say low carb, low fat, around 1500 calories a day. Then I come here, and to other boards, and they say add in higher fat and…

Some diet questions
Hello all! I mostly just read here to get ideas and inspiration but sometimes I do post around MFP. Anyway, I have been a diabetic for years and have, until the last year and a half or so, controlled it mainly by diet. Sort of. My diet has always been erratic but I do try. On one hand, I have the diet the nutritionist has…

Calling all MFP "meanies"
Today, at work, is yet another "junk food" day featuring donuts, muffins, milk, and juice. These occur every 4-7 days or so. Anyway, I can't drink the milk and I'm diabetic. I've brought my usual eggs with veg and bacon, stuck a post it on my screen with this weeks goal weight, and am visualizing large piles of sugar all…

Need help low carbing - especially from diabetics
Hi. I'm not exactly new to MFP but my user name is fairly new. Anyway I've been on and off for awhile. I'm a diabetic (have been for awhile) but I kind of carousel on the low carb thing. I start out doing it according to my dieticians recommendations but end up hungry, fatigued, and overly emotional. Then end up going back…

Cardio/Zumba w/heal spur
Does anyone here do cardio, specifically Zumba, with a heal spur? I was recently diagnosed but really like Zumba. That and walking are about the only two exercises I either enjoy or can fit into the rest of my life fairly easily. Has anyone else managed? I thought if I tried with the special insoles and modified the moves…
