  • Welcome! I think it depends on the person. I would recommend taking some time to experiment and judge how a particular food makes you feel. I get most of my carbs from low GI veggies and some dairy based on what other foods to do my blood sugar. I generally stay away from most fruits except berries but if you're new you…
  • Welcome. I've used parmesan cheese as breading and it works out good. A lot of it is trial and error and just being open to trying some new things.
  • I used to try to make lunches. That would last about a week and they would want school lunch because it was easier. Its way too much trouble for them to bring their own lunches now because its such a long walk from their lockers to the cafeteria. Like the width of a football stadium plus 2 wings. It was a lot easier to…
  • I recall they had large bags and boxes of things like chicken breasts and they have the meats they cut. I don't recall them being any lower priced than regular grocery stores, though, and no sales that I ever saw.
  • I have teenagers who eat carbs, but they seem to moderate themselves fairly well. Though I do have to moderate certain things like snack cakes but I do that by buying them only rarely. That said, I did the same until my late teens and then things started getting out of control with wanting more and more carbs. Will they be…
  • We had one for awhile but rarely used it. I found it beneficial when planning for a party, but most of the time I can get better deals at Aldi's. If you are a fan of certain brands than you can certainly stock up on them at Sam's. It was also helpful for things like trash bags and paper products. Their produce is nice.
  • Also rooting for you Iam.
  • Welcome!

  • Those look yummy!
  • Today I put on my tightest jeans that still let me breath and move and they're loose. I also didn't give in to the home made Italian wedding cake someone brought in.

  • I have protein at every meal and try to for snacks. Lots of bacon, eggs, ham (this has carbs) for breakfast. Lunch is meat leftover from the night before or today I bought a bag of ready made chicken for my salad. Dinner always has a meat. Last night the family wanted pizza so I had bacon and eggs.
  • Welcome and good luck.
  • Me. I tried to only count carbs for the April challenge but I find myself counting calories out of habit.
  • I read yours Dan. I've read them all. I think it's a great idea and will probably read them all again in the future.
  • Constantly feeling sick and never losing weight, pain in my feet, ankles, back and legs from being overweight, pain in my wrists if I put to much pressure on it all a led me to want to live a healthier life. I was eating "healthy" before but it was the wrong healthy for me. Meaning I was eating more carbs than I should…
  • I can't get the dumbbells to keep from moving, lol. The smith machine stays put.
  • Same here. I've been a terrible sleeper since birth (per my mother) and have had trouble with my weight since puberty. I gained the most weight after having twins. I'm thinking there is definitely a correlation there somewhere.
  • Real pushups are hard on my wrists and knee pushups are, well hard on the knees. I think if you start with alternative and work your way up to 100 that's good. You can always change it up once you get there. Myself I plan on using a smith machine because I can lower it once I get to 100. If I want to.
  • In! I'll do the initial test this evening. I'll be doing incline push-ups, about halfway to the floor.
  • Dairy aggravates my stomach except for yogurt. I can handle cheese and HWC in small doses. Do you love dairy? If yes work it in. If no maybe you can find some lower carb substitutes.
  • As of this morning my new mantra is "Get your head out of the scale!"

  • I am so right where you are this morning Annie! The scale can be a real pain and it's frustrating to not see the scale consistently go down. But the inches are and really that matters more than weight. Great job on getting into those jeans!

  • Sorry, should have said works like a charm for me.
  • Drink more water and increase your fat intake. Works like a charm.
  • I have a cat currently on a grain free diet. By that I mean he eats people tuna because grain free cat food is ridiculously expensive and I have 2 cats.
  • I agree, worry about getting your carbs down and using fat to keep the hungries and the flu away. Remember to keep your sodium levels up as well. When I first took the plunge into LCHF my calories were between 2500-3000+ due to the added fat. I did it that way to get my system used to lower carbs. Now my calories vary…
  • Went to an apt right after work. I was an hour and a half later getting home then usual but wasn't ravenous. Oh I ate dinner but in the past I would have eaten the rest of the night.

  • Great loss! I say if you're losing, keep up what you've been doing. If and when you stall, then cut back a little.
  • M Puppy, I have a co worker who, when she is trying to lose weight watches (and comments on) what everyone else is eating. She counts the points sometimes and notices every-single-time someone ventures to the junk table. When she isn't trying to lose weight she's trying to convince the rest of us, who try to eat healthy…
