I loved Zumba but couldn't keep up after I developed heel spurs. I can do it at the time, but I can't walk the next day. Its a shame because it was fun.

Smith machines are supposed to be terrible for squats but they work well for incline push ups.

Thanks for that Keto. I started taking it but haven't seen any significant changes in blood sugar. Either it isn't the cause of it or there is no correlation for me specifically.

Park dad that's what I do. It's confusing hearing so my different opinions and I constantly wonder if what I'm doing is "right." I think in the end we have to find what works for us. The gym I go to doesn't have the biggest selection of free weights but I see some really fit gentleman using a combo of free weights and…

Great job Dan! And thanks for explaining what some of those are. I get my blood work done 2x a year but I never really know what it all means except for A1C and cholesterol. I had my work up done a few weeks ago when I was about 3weeks into LCHF. It won't get done again until fall so I'm interested to see the effects of…

That's what I was told and found it very difficult. I was hungry constantly and my blood sugar levels were all over the place. I now keep it within the 50-100 range, more 50 than 100, and things are much better.

Purely anecdotal but oatmeal gives me no energy and makes me feel like I'm starving all day. OP, I'm not Paleo but I went through the low energy thing a little and it passes. It may not have anything to do with diet, either. Maybe your just tired.

Congrats - you look great!

<<my husband remarks every day about how "hot" I am and how he can feel the difference when he puts his arms around me while I'm sleeping at night.>> <<The absolute BEST NSV is that my daughter can wrap her arms all the way around my waist when she gives me a hug. That feeling is better than anything the scales can…

Speaking of Nerd Fitness I just remembered one of the people there, Staci, eats lower carbs because of a thyroid issue and she lifts very heavy. I'm not sure if she actually bulks though.
-
Wow those look great!

Yummy

I think surplus just means extra calories. I know the fitness "experts" say to up carbs to bulk but I would think you could up your fat and protein and do the same. I'm in no way an expert though and you wouldn't want go to high on the protein. The guy who runs Nerd Fitness adds carbs with sweet potatoes a lot. Maybe you…

Have you been eating those bars all along? I've never eaten Quest bars but I know that Atkins, Special K, and Fiber One cause me to bloat and retain water. Could that be it maybe?
-
I haven't had IBS since going low carb. I used to have it daily. I've never dealt with Crohn's.
-
Yeah, anything with "added fiber" or protein for the matter makes my stomach unpleasant, lol.
-
Yay JPW!

Thanks! I've read that taking melatonin can raise levels but the I read that some studies have found a link between low melatonin levels and T2D. Talk about confusing.

159. I don't like it but I'm on day 3 of not taking Metformin at night and it has at least steadied a bit. I haven't taken myself off altogether, just seeing if it has any effect.
-
Maybe its a reverse effect. You know how people get the "low carb flu" when they first start out, maybe its the opposite.
-
You rock, Dan! Love all the fat bomb recipes.

I could go on all day about dietitians and nutritionists but I'll just say that mine wanted me on a lower (but no where near "low" for around here) carb, low fat, 1500 calories a day diet. I tried for a long time to follow it and failed miserably. I've upped the fat and seriously lowered the carbs and I feel amazing. I…

Welcome! And I am just not going to find that one, lol.
-
Have you started eating more or different veggies? Sometimes that can do it. Broccoli and cauliflower come to mind.
-
Ew. Just yuck.
-
Great losses everyone!

I'll second this. There are foods that are lower carb that should be fine for me but throw my levels out of whack. When you say sick, are you dizzy and shaky or is sick to your stomach? I'm guessing the former as that is what sick feels like to me. I was getting this through the day and stopped taking the AM dose of…

13lbs in 8 weeks is awesome - great job! Unfortunately the weight loss process decides where the fat comes from, you don't get much say. I suffer from impatience as well, so you're in good company. Keep doing what you're doing and it will even out.
-
Only if you have a true medical reason for eating low carb.

Thanks JPW, I'll keep that in mind. I did report those two posters. I'm all for different opinions, truly, I love it. I even love a good debate but its just getting ridiculous. We shouldn't have to come over here just to have a decent conversation, you know. Not that I don't love y'all.
