I only back into a space when I have to choose between parking in the boondocks or parking between two gargantuan pickup trucks or SUVs. Its easier to see what's coming at ya when you go out nose first.

Well, I've heard that Men have more lean muscle mass than women. That in and of itself will help you burn more calories and eventually lose weight. Women, well we have more body fat and for the most part are deigned to bear children, thus more body fat to support both the mother and the child when it does happen. She also…

1) Take the shoes with you 2) You should be able to look up the shoe by model number on New Balance's web site. The soreness could be due to any number of things. You may also want to search the Runners World and/or Natural Running Center's sites for articles on those types of aches and pains. Remedies could be as simple…

Start slowly. There are a few programs I like: - hundredpushups.com and its sibling sites: 100 Squats, I think theres one for pullups, and there's definitely one for situps.

I never notice. For most of my life I've never been 'check-out' worthy unless it was by guys who liked 'round' shapes. I'm just acquiring a 'fashion sense' too. A few weeks ago when the team at work went out to lunch, one of the guys I work with told me that another guy was checking me out when I was getting some Tea. Then…

Well, whatever you end up doing you have to stick with something. I don't lose weight either. Usually it takes a serious shakeup of my routine to lose anything at all. Even then its only a little bit at a time! I've 'circled' 230 lbs for about a year now. I've gotten as low as 221. Over the winter, I popped back up to…

I never really gave up much on my healthy journey. Most of the time I had the portion size that was indicated on the label, and I counted it in my meal planning. Some things I did without for awhile like Potato chips, and tortilla chips. My husband's junk food is kept downstairs, which is where he hangs out. I'm the…

Hi, been in your shoes! At one point in my life, 262 lbs and no idea what to do with a dumbell! In fact, I felt like the dumbbell :) Anyway, here's what I used in order: 1) Walking using the couch to 5k intervals on C25K.com. The program is made for running, but just walk at two different speeds. 2) Beachbody DVDs: Body…

I just tell 'em I'm trying to get down to fightin' weight.

Eh, if 226 is heavy for a gal, guess I'm it :) I do the following: 1) 50-ish minutes of power walking on my lunch break. Perceived rate of exertion is that I can carry on a conversation, and my breathing is noticeable. I do use a heart rate monitor. Calorie burn is typically between 350-400 calories (@100 per 10 min) 2)…

That's why I prefer working out at home. Or out running. You can pretend the ripper is extra propulsion.

Well, I don't know what I can say that anybody else hasn't already said. Trying to get healthy, and live healthy is a journey. Its a change. It sounds like things don't look so hot for you right now. Hang in there. Each day is the opportunity to do something better than you did yesterday. Its these small, incremental…

As several said before me, go to a running shoe store and get fitted for shoes. Then make sure you're using good form: http://naturalrunningcenter.com/2013/05/06/video-the-principles-natural-running/ Once you've reviewed that, I suggest starting with Couch to 5k: http://www.c25k.com Start slow, and if you have to repeat…

Sitting on your butt definitely won't make it smaller, so anytime you can get your heart rate up for however many minutes is a win. I started out with the Couch to 5k program. That one takes you from walking to being able to do a 5k in 9 weeks. I also lifted weights with a friend for a period of time. I didn't stick with…

When you're entering your profile information, notice that you are asked how much exercise you plan to incorporate, and that the recommendation for calories is in NET calories. Basically, that means if you do the amount of exercise that you enter in your profile, and you match the value in the NET Calories column at the…

Agree with the Heart Rate Monitor suggestion. Number of calories burned varies widely from person to person because of fitness level and intensity. I'm one of those people that seem to burn about 100 calories every 10 minutes no matter what I do. But, I learned that by using an HRM. Insanity is a tough workout, I wouldn't…

Call his bluff. My husband said the same thing five years ago. He's still here! If you wait for the people around you to 'be supportive' you may end up waiting a long time. There are some things you just have to do for yourself, and this is one of them. If you are self conscious exercising in front of them, start walking.…

Going on 4 years as a runner now. Next goal is a 10K the first week in May. I'm kind of struggling getting there since the snow keeps me inside. I tend to gravitate toward the Natural Running style. My favorite running shoes are what's left of a 2 year old pair of New Balance Minimus trail shoes. I also have a pair of…

Merrell, the company that makes the natural/minimalist running shoes, also makes a line of casual shoes.

Clean Eating Magazine (from the news stand) or Cleaneatingmag.com > sometimes the really good ideas are in the margins of the meal plans. In moderation, you can also work in sandwiches, either or half or whole depending on what they're made with. Soups, also in moderation due to sodium. Yes, you do have to make changes to…

Well, if you cut anything into small enough servings ;) Low fat versions of the cheeses, maybe cut back on the mozzarella. I like the idea of adding veggies (google the Deconstructed Lasagna recipe from CleanEating.com - that may be a good place to start to revamp the sauce. Might also want to search their site for Ziti…

You can always email customer service to double-check. Its been awhile, but after I completed Combat I think I got a 'thank your for submitting..." email.

Active by Old Navy, whatever catches my eye at Walmart, occasionally I splurge on Under Armour.

I've lived with this problem for 28 years now. He has to have his junk food and I had to just make up my mind not to eat it. I control what I eat, it does not control me. Part of the trick for me was not letting myself get so hungry that I couldn't say no. For me this involved eating more frequently and eating more…

I'm somewhat new to this site...what do TDEE, and NEAT mean?

Dead last. The first 3 5k's I ever did :) I'm determined to live long enough to win my age group.

Oh my, don't get me started either. Been between sizes forever! Right now I have a pair of 16s and 18s from Old Navy. They're the sweetheart cut. The 16s pinch around the knees and thighs but are ok around the waist. The 18s fit in the thighs, but I show more in the back than is publicly permissible.

Do some research, read some of the articles about that on Runners World's website. Then follow their advice. If you're just starting out, a 14 minute mile is faster than what I did when I started. When I started, 17's were not unusual. I've been running about 4 years, and I'm finally breaking the 11 min/ mile barrier. In…

I have a tendency to go back and 'examine' everything I did. There are a few things you have control over when watching what you eat: 1) Portion size - go back to measuring cups for a few days. Get used to what a 1cup serving and a 1/2 cup serving look like again. 2) What are you eating? Are you favoring or avoiding…

Own every bite. The good, the bad, and the Reeses Cups :)
