Cat's are "Obligate Carnivores"...meaning meat eaters. Use a search engine and read up on it, even dry foods containing grain can cause problems. I'm living through this at the moment!

Beachbody DVDs - Combat....but like the poster above has said, you can't spot reduce. You can shape up what you have though.

Don't worry about how heavy the weight is, just keep increasing it to challenge yourself. I'm up to 20 lb. dumb bells and not even close to bulky.

Pass out at the gym...

Well, when you're losing weight, you can play with the following things: Duration of exercise, exertion during exercise, and type of exercise. Your body adapts as it changes so if you expect to do the same thing through your weight loss journey, when your body adapts everything will stop. That's what an earlier poster…

Well, I live out in the boondocks and the worst things I encounter on the trail are aggressive geese and Snakes (Copperheads). Well, so far anyway. I've also seen evidence of bear in the area too. Basically, be prepared. There are a few things I've learned to do:* Tell somebody you're going out alone. * Tell them where…

I always enjoy these kinds of threads. I feel the same way that the original poster does. Sometimes you just wanna put the devices away and have confidence in your own skills that you'll eat like you got some sense. Maybe I'm a little too tightly wound, but I really like to know whats on my plate. Knowing what's on your…

I'm another one that goes home and cooks everynight. Sometimes I even clean, too

And if you got far enough to read my post, bet you're still confused right? ;) Here's what I learned along my journey: 1) Everything in moderation. Try to keep everything balanced. By this I mean, try to incorporate a variety of healthy foods into your meals along the way. You can still have moderate amounts of the things…

I'm not dainty about anything. If I rip one in a yoga class its pretty obvious it was me. The class I was in was so laid back sometimes there was applause...

I'm married to a 62 year old perfectionist. Not only does it have to be on 'his' menu, but it has to be fixed exactly the same way each time. Don't let it get to where I am! On the upside I don't cook for him any more. I fix what I eat and if he wants some of it there's enough. If he doesn't, well I don't have to worry…

Could be. Try a snack before you work out. Banana, pretzels, something like that. If you're totally against a little bit of carbs, you could always try a protein and a fat as a snack. The only downside I found to that approach though is that sometimes it doesn't digest fast enough and I end up with stomach cramps. Or a mad…

Look, the world is always going to be a target rich environment. Best to do as the one poster suggested, add it in to MFP before you eat it and then see if it fits your budget for the day. If you're expecting family and friends to avoid foods you can't have, good luck with that. The suggestion for moving all of the treats…

Yeah, I disagree too. People get fat because they don't know or they don't care. I don't think economic status has much to do with obesity. Its all about choosing what and how much you eat. If you are exposed to the right information you can make better choices regardless of how much money you spend. My uncle recently died…

Hi Sixxpoint - Chicken breasts, is there anyway to cook those things that they don't come out like plywood?

Calories In - Calories out. It is said that weight loss is all about creating a calorie deficit. Doesn't matter how you create the deficit (totally by diet, or by combo of diet and exercise), just as long as you burn more calories than you eat. Now back to the question. Yes, anything that gets your buns off the couch and…

My husband is a picky eater. Says he likes vegetables but doesn't eat the when I put them out. The only way he eats squash is battered and fried. Personally, I'd like more variety than that! Pretty much the same with green beans (simmered w/ a ham hock and lots of salt). I work 8 hours a day. Sometimes I just need some…

I deal with it one day at a time. One moment at a time. The big picture always looks like its as big as a mountain. But if you look at mountain climbing as a one foot in front of the other process, one day you will get to the top of the mountain. So what does a step look like? Its one healthy thing that you can do for…

Before you toss out the wrapper, flip it over and see what the nutrition label on the package says. Pick the entry that is the closest to it in weight and calories.

The simple answer is to Eat when you're hungry. For me, sometimes that has been 4 times a day, at other times its been six times a day...

My theory on supplements...don't start anything that you can't continue for the rest of your life. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you have to change what you're doing. I'm in the same boat though. On paper (ok, MFP journal), it looks like I'm doing everything right. But the scale isn't moving. I do seem to be…

Well, depending on what type of pasta it is, sometimes about.com has info that might help. Last night I had weighed out two 'dry' servings of pasta and cooked it. Just for the heck of it I used google last night and entered "How many calories does 1 cup of cooked penne pasta have?" About.com showed the answer was 1/2 cup…

When I used to keep your schedule, I worked out at lunch. We had an hour back then. Depending on where I worked, that ended up being a 1-2 mile walk, or working out in the gym. Your employer expects you to be away from your desk, and your family can't interrupt because they aren't there. Workouts don't have to be an hour…

Yes, I have been there. January 28th, I put my dog Snoop to sleep. She was my rock for 14 years. We went through obedience training together, she often accompanied me on walks or runs. You name it, she was right there on my left-side. Every day I still look between the shelves in the garage where her bed was. She was…

The last part of your story sounds alot like mine, except no bulging disc. It sounds like the 5 PTs who watched you run on a treadmill agreed with what they saw, so that says something right there. How many of them have a specialty in running or are runners themselves? I have ITBS and the same hip drop (Trendenlenburg…

There's a little bit of truth to both sides I believe. "Calories in/Calories Out" - all you need to do is to eat a deficit to lose weight. That one is true. However, fuel-mix is important too. Have you ever noticed that you feel different on those days you don't eat optimally? If it weren't for recognizing that our bodies…

Low impact exercise, most definitely. But, it might be a good idea to try out different classes at gyms. Many of them will let you try at least one class for free. Thing is, maybe its time to think out of the box a little bit. Try things that you never considered trying before. Just keep trying things until you find…
