getting lean arms without the gym?

Is there a way to get lean arms without going to the gym for those heavy weights? I'm having trouble losing the little fat in my arms, about 1 inch to go. I want lean arms. I already have an athletic build so I naturally have a good amount of muscle there. I'm not trying to build more, I just want to get rid of the fat. I work with 12 pound free weights at home and do other circuit training. Should I do more cardio to get rid of it or is there a way to get lean arms without the gym?

Getting 'leaner' is the consequence of fat loss and fat loss is the consequence of a regular calorie deficit. You can achieve that in the gym or in the kitchen, but the deficit has to be there for the fat to go and show the muscle you have. Personally I think the women with the most nicely defined arms are those who lift but each to their own. :)

You can't spot reduce; the only way to lose fat is to lose weight. Your body composition will change with a resistance program, though.

Beachbody DVDs - Combat....but like the poster above has said, you can't spot reduce. You can shape up what you have though.

I agree to some extent but I'd argue that getting lean isn't only a consequence of fat loss, yes you need fat loss to be lean but you also need muscle definition and tone, without that you are slender not lean.

But from OPs description, athletic build etc, diet could be a key factor in defining those arms. Try incorporating both, strength and cardio. HIIT and other forms of circuit training is great cardio, but if you included mountain climbers, push up and other exercises that included strength in the arms. I swear by metabolic circuits as a fat burner, have a google.

    Fat loss reveals muscle definition
tone is not actually a muscle thing it's simply low fat revealing muscle
Muscles get bigger or smaller, that's it ...fat reveals or hides ...thats it

I know what you mean about skinny vs lean though and OP has already said she has an athletic physique ...my personal favoured body aesthetic is definitely a good musculature, I dislike spindly, and that needs progressive resistance and adequate protein

You don't need a gym OP ...you need to eat at a defecit ..push ups, pull ups, barbell rows, flies etc

That's pretty much what @CollieFit said, though. You could lift weights all day long, but if you have layers of fat over it, nobody is going to see that muscle. It's the fat loss that is going to make the muscle show. Since OP claims they already have a fair amount of muscle, their only real option here is to lose some weight to get that definition to show up.

Calorie deficit reduces fat. Eat enough protein to minimize muscle loss while losing fat.

There are numerous ways to tone up your arm muscles outside a gym. Pushups, tricep dips, weights at home, resistance bands, yard work, DVDs, climbing, pushing, pulling ... anything that provides resistance

It's not loose skin. I was not that overweight to begin with and I'm barely 25. Besides, I can tell that it's fat.
