I tend to tell what's going on with me and what want to do only to people that I know will be supportive. Otherwise, I'd have to start body slamming others and don't want to go there. ;-) For all the rest, I just let me progress bubble up to my Facebook page.

It's counter-intuitive, but working out actually gives you more energy. Once you start getting fit, you actually start craving workout time. 49 year-old father of 6 here, work full-time and do 16.5 miles a week (HIIT) on an elliptical. That being being said, my wife has longer, harder days than me as a full-time homemaker.

I've found that setting goals and then beating them is helpful for me. I started out being able to do barely 10 minutes on the elliptical, but now I can do 60 minutes.
