I only run 20-25 miles a week (plus usually one bike ride (~50km) + 2hr bouldering session and some bodyweight exercises) but 50 yrs old, 6' and 78kg I've maintained for 15 months on a TDEE of around 3500. You probably need to eat more than 1795!

I started last May at 48 years old with the aim of getting fit in time for my 50th birthday (August coming). I didn't have a goal in mind for either the fitness or weight. I have lost 50 lbs and have done 2 parts of a triathlon 40km bike followed by 10km run - not so keen on the swimming! - in 2 hrs 23 just for the fun of…

Have a look at http://www.exrx.net. Under the exercise directory it will give you a variety of exercises (weights, bodyweight and stretches) for each muscle,

Another Garmin 610 user here! Absolutely love it for tracking my running and cycling. Don't always pay attention to it when actually running but love the stats it gives me, especially when paired with SportTracks software.

I usually have a bike ride twice a week, cycling around 40- 50 miles in total. I'm reasonably fit but I wouldn't call myself a cycle specialist at all. On my road bike I usually cover approximately 26 - 27 km in an hour - so a broadly similar sort of pace to you - with an average heart rate of about 125-130 bpm. I'm also…

Totally agree on the "who are you cheating?" and choices comments! You make a choice as to whether you eat certain foods that you normally avoid or choose to eat more calories than your chosen limit. These choices might or might not affect your goals but ultimately it's always your decision. You can't cheat yourself and…

I don't think you add exercise calories on TDEE. You work out more than I do for sure tho! [/quote] I meant to say that I don't log my exercise in MFP. I know some people do by logging it as 1 calorie.

I'm currently trying to maintain on 3500-3600 calories but my 4 week moving average shows me very, very slowly continuing to lose weight. I wouldn't say I "run for hours daily". I run about 20 miles a week (3 sessions), cycle about 50 miles (2 sessions) and throw in some bodyweight exercises. I prefer to use TDEE but track…

Thanks. I believe I have and hopefully for the long term. Even at 49 I am still wondering how far I can go.

I'm 49. As plenty of others have said it is as simple as eat less and move more. What combination of those you choose and how complicated you want to make it is up to you.. But for me it's the mental approach that determines success - there is no "I want to" or "I'm trying to", you either do it or you don't. Every time you…

Thanks everyone for their kind comments. It's extremely rare for me to ever post in any forum but MFP has played such a huge part in my success that I felt I ought to share it. If it helps anyone else then even better. I did think of keeping the 50lbs of sugar I collected so that I could carry it around from time to time…

Thanks. Not too good as we found out this week that it has now started to spread to her lungs.
