  • Homemade soups, made on the weekend, like yellow split pea, chicken wild rice, or vegetable beef or white bean and ham. Make enough to take with you to work. You can use a small amount of meat, like a slice of ham, leftover chicken, etc. If you serve it to your family, make some muffins to go with it. Or since your husband…
  • Try using baby shampoo in your eyes, instead. My daughter is a nurse and a doctor told her to do this when she got an infection in her eyes. She does wear contacts, too.
  • 1/3 cup oatmeal, 2/3 cup water - put both in a bowl and microwave for 2 minutes. Use the 1 minute quick cooking type of oatmeal. I add 1 tablespoon dried fruit and 1 tablespoon walnuts after it's done.
  • Try to even out your calorie intake....larger meals and less snacks. I had similar issues as you, then started eating really good breakfasts. I have almost 400 calories for breakfast....egg white omelots, oatmeal, walnuts, v-8 juice, etc. A slightly smaller lunch, around 300 calories, with lots of fiber. Then, you won't be…
  • Breakfast is my FAVORITE meal....1/3 cup egg beaters with 1 tbls. Mexican cheese, 1/3 c. oatmeal with 1 tbls. each: walnuts, dried fruit and wheat germ, low sodium V-8 juice and sometimes, a piece of bread, too. And of course, coffee. It's around 380-400 calories, but keeps me full all morning!
  • I love this stuff. I drink it every day, sometimes twice a day. I like to swim, too! I track potassium instead of carbs....as I'm never over on those. It's interesting to see what has potassium in it and how much you need each day. It's quite a bit.
  • If you feel hungry, you probably aren't eating enough. I plateaued for a month, so changed my goal to 1/2 pound per week, which raised my calories a bit and I started losing again right away. I have an active job, too, working with disabled children in a school. I wear a pedometer and don't count the first 2000 steps (1…
  • It took about 10 days until I started losing weight. Stick with it....I lost 12 lbs in two months, then didn't lose any more for almost a month, then, lost 3 pounds in a week. Good luck! Make sure you are eating enough, but not going over with calories
  • I'm between 5'7 - 5'8" and when I was your age, that is what I weighed....135. Almost 29 years later, I joined MFP, because, over the years, I had put on 20 pounds, weighing 156 in January. I've lost 11 or 12 pounds now, and am happy with that, but wouldn't mind losing a couple more. I think 140 would be ideal for me...so…
  • That's me, too. I tried Almond Milk in my tea, and it's not bad and less calories than 1%. I allow 1-2 tsp. sugar per day in my tea (somtimes 3), but switched to black coffee, which was difficult, but I'm finally used to it. I tried Splenda and Stevia in my tea, but don't like it. Nothing like real sugar.
  • The best thing for swimming is learning how to relax in the water. Use a kick board, fins, pull buoy, goggles--anything to make it easier. Once you relax in the water, you will be able to swim forever! Take frequent rests; try to keep your breathing normal, don't gasp for air or splash the water vigorously. Good luck. I've…
