Water, coffee, and keep busy!

Hi from Shropshire - fairly new to this myself. Feel free to add me. x
-
Fast Day for me too. Cottage pie and veg for tea. Can't wait. Gone a little bit overboard recently by overeating at the weekend, and drinking wine in the week, but still losing 1lb most weeks.
-
You will be fine!
-
Thanks, that is really useful. I am planning to see how I get on with 1800-1900 per day.
-
So I now realise what I have been doing wrong! On MFP I have put 'lightly active' for my activity, bringing me up at 1920 cals, but on the other calculators, I have been putting 'little or no exercise' which must be the equivalent of sedentary, making it lower. If I change that to exercise 1-3 times per week (to cover the…

I put sedentary too. Even if I add exercise though, it still stays at 1920. If I want to lose 2lb per week it automatically goes to 1200 cals per day. This is why I find 5:2 so good because I don't have to restrict myself.
-
I have been doing 5:2 for about 5 weeks now, and I have consistently lost about 1lb when doing it what I think is correctly. The only question I have is this... MFP tells me that maintenance calories for me are 1920 (huge!!), whereas every other website I have been on tells me around 1600, which is what I have been doing.…

5:2 it is then! Thanks for all of your advice, and for talking me out of desperate measures!!
-
I know this and have tried it for a long time. MFP always tells me to eat 1200 cals per day, but this didn't work. Other MFP members tell me to eat between 1500-1600 per day because of my weight. This didn't work either. This is why I am trying other things.
-
The pic was taken a few years ago! I think 5:2 will be the best way to go as your final paragraph sounds like something that would suit me. The deficit on MFP tells you to only eat 1200 cals, but this doesn't work. Other MFP members tell me to eat more because of my weight (1500-1600 cals) but this didn't work either. I…

Thanks - I'll give this a go.

I know it's not 5:2, it's just I'd read about it and it gave me the idea of taking it to the extreme. Is there a sensible way of fasting then, as many website say different things.
-
Because the 5:2 would lose so little weight, this is why I am thinking about fasting for longer, for a larger loss. I want to lose it fast as I have a whole wardrobe of things I can't fit into any more and don't want to have to buy more larger size clothes. I need to find something easy as I find it hard to stick to diets…

Every single website I have been on has told me that I am burning between 404 and 415 calories walking at 5mph (some state this is jogging) for 40 minutes.
-
If MFP calorie burning is wrong, why is it on here? I have been relying on it for a whole year now. I tried to download this mymapwalk, but I have a windows phone and can't get it. I have looked at similar things but you need a heart rate monitor and they cost a fortune! How am I supposed to track what I am doing?
-
I use the calorie count on MFP as the treadmill doesn't know my weight etc. For my weight, I can walk 5mph for 40 mins and I (apparently) burn 398 cals.
-
I need to make a start back on track now doing things the right way.
-
Diary open - very up and down recently. Lots of eating out but logging as best I can, and exercising to compensate.
-
Thanks Mark - out of interest, how many calories do you net?
-
Thanks - sounds good. I'll have a look at that. I might start at 1700 and see how I go!
-
I know it's hard because we are all different and respond differently to different things. But already I have conflicting advice which is confusing. Some say I could lose at 1700, but most say (including website calculators etc.) eat 1200 to lose 2lb per week. Maybe I should try this for now. In response to others, I don't…

5ft 2. I also have a lateral thigh trainer which I use when I get chance to help with legs and bum!
-
Will open now. I have had a bad binge with alcohol over Easter and I know the wine has to stop during the week too...
-
I know what you mean about serial starter! I have just finished an Easter binge, have tried to ask about for some advice, and will try again something different from what advice has been given. Could do with support to stay on track and will do the same in return if you want to add me. Jules x
-
Hi from Shropshire - feel free to add, been here a year, but need some help staying on the straight and narrow!! x
-
Hi Meg, I have been here just over a year, but need all the support I can get, as we all do! Please feel free to add me as a friend. Welcome, and GOOD LUCK!! Jules xx:smile:

Thanks for your help - I'll give it a go!
