  • The Lego Movie (with the kids) ...and everything IS awesome
  • I usually get all my exercise running round mazes. I find some nice cakes though, but I never seem to loose any weight, can't think why...............
  • Oh yeah, forgot one. Keppt the bike clean. Muck and stuff, rain, gunk, etc in the in cogs will just mess with the chain and, ultimately, your gear changes.
  • Good start. I also bike to work, and have done so for about 2 and a half years now. I would add that, once you're committed, get some proper gear. You don't need to spend loads, but cycling shorts are a must (as I fould out to my, painful, cost). The do really help and you'll quickly get over any self-conciousness in them.…
  • In from Glasgow. Been here (MFP) about 9 months now and log on pretty much every day. HAppy to support anyone who wants to add me.
  • Started running about 8 months ago, to train for a 10K. Need that initial goal to get me going. Regularly run 3 to 4 miles about 3 times a week now. Feel free to add. Happy to share tips and pitfalls.
  • beenmentioned a couple of times already, and is my choice. Large back catelogue as well, so plenty of variety.
  • I didn't do me any harm and my parents only used it in moderation, never excessively (however I may have thought of it at the time) and never used wooden spoons, etc. My wife and I were split on the issue, but it the end we didn't have to use it with our first kid. Second one still has a lot to learn and would have, in…
  • Good luck. I'm on here everyday, so please feel free to add. My dad was a polieman so I know all about what the job includes. Motivation comes in many forms. It's harsh, but you've done the right thing it can be done. I lost 2 stone in a little over 3 months when I started.
  • Yeah, can I have some of that too!!
  • " Just a little patience " as one rocker once crooned. I've been at it for about 8 months and the weight (nearly 2 stone) has disappeared from everywhere, except where I actually wanted it to go from, my tummy. I know you can't target areas for weight loss, but it is still frustrating and my only disappointment about my…
  • Dangerous Liasons
  • Bit of bacon and a potato scone, with a poached egg  (and I enjoyed it!!)
  • ...... and they were yummy !!!!!
  • MFP set mine to 1470 (that's a 1lb a week loss). During the week I can pretty much keep to that as exercise calories always bump it up towards to the 2000 calories mark (40+ minutes cycling a day, plus a couple of runs). At the weekend I have less spare time to exercise so struggle to make that target. I'm not adverse to…
  • Can't argue with any of the advice here. My first was a 10K about 6 months ago and I took a leisurely 3 1/2 months in training (Could have done it much shorter). When I started, I struggled with a mile and a half. For socks, just search ebay for blister prevention socks, you'll get plenty of hits. Over a 5K I don't think…

  • Find an actual race to enter yourself in. I saw someone mentioned parkrun (in the UK) and there's also entrycentral, which lists races in your area. Give yourself about 12 weeks to train, if you're starting from scratch. C25K (couch to 5K) is good, but you'll find a number of training plans just by using google. I trained…

  • Lost, in a maze, and all I had to eat were yellow smarties. I kept feeling that someone was chasing me...........
  • I saw the photos only - I've not read the rest of the thread but the pictures tell all. Congratulations on a fabulous journey. You've done yourself proud.
  • Irn Bru (it has to be Barr's) My bed My bike (my current one is cheap and has been nothing but problems - this was a one off and I won't do it again!)
  • I burn roughly 500 ech day just sycling too and from work. If I add a run as well, say 30-40 minutes later that day, i can add another 400+ (depending on how quick I am). MFP is said to be on the generous side, so I tend to leave some of these uneaten, but on a running day I'll definitely eat something extra.
  • I'd pretend to be a ghost so someone wouldn't fly. Besides, if I;m invisible i can hold onto what ever I want or I'll bring something to hold me in. OP said small things I touch would be invisible as well. I've got superpowers, I can make it work somehow...........
  • Invisibility for me. As well as all the other stuff you can do while invisible, you could also sneak onto planes and fly for free. Two birds, one stone
  • Wow. I hadn't noticed the dates at the start of this thread and wondered why so many people were talking about the heat! (I'm not really that stupid, it's just early, honest  ) Anyway, up in Scotland where, as normal, it's cold, wet & miserable :glasses:
  • Welcome back. A fair few runners on here and I've had lots of support since I started. I started running when I joined MFP as I needed more exercise. I'm doing a few 10Ks this year, so good luck with yours. Please feel free to add me.
  • Scotland, 7:45 and I'm awake 'coz I'm at work Been up since before for my daily cycle.
  • I think my answer would be yes. I've reached my goal weight and it's well within the height/weight ratio recommended by my GP - but I still have a 'beer' belly (I don't drink that much beer these days). I think we're now down to exercise and toning to remove some of this, but I'd still class my shape as 'fat'.
