Marathon Running and Food
I'm about to start marathon training for Manchester in 2020. I've got the training and exercise plans sorted, but I've not really looked at diet yet. Anyone got any tips or suggestions of good resource material? Any marathon runners in training that want an add so I can stalk your food diaries for ideas?

What to eat when you are tired
I sometimes, like most people, get a bit tired in the afternoon, especially if I've had a poor night's sleep. I used to eat a bar of chocolate and a fizzy drink to wake me up a bit, but as that's about 300-400 calories, I'm looking for alternative. Any suggetions?

Runners chaffing
Anyone have any solutions for chaffing. Looking for something to soothe this after the event. Any suggestions???

problems with Runtastic
I've been trying to register for this but when I enter my date of birth (in the correct format) I get an error message to say I need to be 13 to register. Now I'm way past 13 and I've tried my own birth date and a couple of random dates as well, but the same error message. This isn't the first time I've had this problem.…

Calorie Burn Variations
Alright, two questions. And, from the outset, I just want to make it clear that I'm not asking the questions so I can eek out a few extra exercise calories and have a bar of chocolate  , I really just want to know the answers. 1. Do you 'burn' more calories awake than asleep? I've not been sleeping well and have…

Stiff/sore legs after running
I've been running now for about 10 months. I ran a 10K race last week (8 days ago) but my legs (calves, really) are still a bit stiff/sore (just generally mildy uncomfortable). I'm okay with the distance, I've done it a number of times before (including races) and I've run twice since then (4 and 5 miles). other than…

It's Friday and....
.......I'm off to get some chips. I don't care - I can take it And do you know what, a can of fizzy juice too - just for the hell of it

Less than 1200 net a day - short term?
I'd like an opinion on this. I've been here for about 8 months and lost what I wanted to using the tools and the guides, so I understand the theory of the site. (I put a wee bit on over Christmas - but that's not the point of the post). Anyway my bike, which is how I normally travel to and from work, needed a bit of work…

Runners - blisters and toenails - help
Upped my running this week for a number of reasons, but I have, now, a problem. 3rd and 4th toes on my right foot have developed what looks to be blisters under the toenails. One had blood in it. I took a bath yesterday to try and soak them and the bllod disappeared, as did one of the blisters (and the other partly).…

NSV - I've got a......
fat box. It's where all my fat clothes live now that I look ridiculous in them. Shorts, trousers, shirts all in there and kept - for the moment - as motivation and a reminder. Might be a small victory, but for me it sticks out. (Costng me a fortune in new clothes mind you!!)

DO I need an HRM?
I cycle to work 5 days a week and also runusually 3 times a week. I use the generic guides on MFP and I know these are generally accepted to be on the high side. How much more accurate will an HRM be for me? On the way to work I will easily fit into the 16-20 mph bracket for cycling. Downside to that is that if I go faster…

Dumbells & Abs exercises
Been on here for four months now and have, thankfully, done quite well. I do a lot of cardio which has helped me loose weight but want to work on specific areas of the body (I know I can't target calories - I'm looking at shape, muscle etc). I want to start doing some dumbell exercises to work the arms and upper torso and…

Calorie Deficiency Carry Over
Is it acceptable to carry over a deficiency from one day to the next? I'm not talking about every day but, for example, if you haev a night out/wedding/big dinner planned is the best way to go about it by being well in the green the day before (and maybe the day after) to combat the big red day? I'm still talking about…

10K is in the bag
5 weeks to my first 10K race. Did 10 miles to work and back and a 5 mile Friday night run. In a PB as well. For the first time I feel confident about finishing the race in some form of a sensible time. 12 weeks from struggling 1.4 mile runs to this. Tired, sore, but happy. Wee pizza and a can of Bru as a reward, I think.…

Calories. How do they work them out?
How do the corporate eggheads work out how many calories are inf, for example, a chocolate bar? Is there are formula that's as complex as anything you've seen before, or is there a simple answer? Similarly how do the good guys at MFP (or anywhere else for that matter) get their 'calories burned' for each exercise?
