Hi There, I have both & yes - its really tricky! But, you can do it! I also have heart issues, so, exercise hasnt really been high on the cards for me for a long time (but am able to add more in now!!! yay!!!) Dealing with PCOS/Thyroid combination, in my research - is NOT the same as dealing with PCOS OR Thyroid issues -…

I have both PCOS and thyroid (also waiting on a heart op - so - has been very little exercise thus far) and it is hard, but you can do it :) The main thing i have found was that - very few drs know a lot about EITHER of these conditions, much less how they interact with each other. You need to research a lot yourself & try…

MAybe you could transcribe to paper at the same time (or excel/word etc)... And have everything for the week on the one piece that way even when MFP 'goes over' on a certain day - you can look at your 'week' elsewhere and breath. I totally understand the OCD anxiety/stress issue - and sometimes it means extra leg work…

Fantastic idea @spalissa!

I have both PCOS and Thyroid issues :) It is hard, really hard - but you can do it - honest. I have heart issues, so no metaformin or other drugs for me that are often prescribed. And while i uise to be able to exercise HEAPS to manage my weight as a child/young adult - as my heart got worse - that got harder too.…

@Kanndj, I have sent you a request & message :)

Personally - Soy is terrible for PCOS - It disrupts endocrine function - which is something already an issue in women with PCOS - it is one of the main things to avoid. So soy milk & Protein powders (which generally contain large amounts of soy product in them) are things i would not advocate using. Generally avoiding…

Im so/so about this. I dont really agree with all of the advice listed - but compared to a couple of pieces of jam ladened toast, or a bowl of sugary cereal, definitely better options.

Amazing idea @Alatariel - I hadn't thought of that - but i have plastic top scales & they would shrivel! lol... New reason to get the glass top scales i have been eying off maybe? :)

Unless you have a thyroid issue - there should be no issues :) They are super tasty that way! (Broccoli and Cauliflower and Cruciferous veg, or Goitrogenic & can cause enlargement of the thyroid - Cooking well can help minimise this effect to some degree, but even then they should still be limited :) )
-
You look amazing - I admit, I have total jealousy issues over your amazing transformation!!! I too have lost 80lb and can barely see a difference in my photos! Admittedly I have another 65-100 to go - hopefully one day i will join you with such inspiring pictures!!! Well done - You must feel a whole new person!

Thanks everyone. They are all great suggestions (Even the 'doorstop' comment - it is how i feel! But i need to suck that up & just do something! :) ) my internet plan is completely minimal & youtube videos chew through it - so will have a look at some of the static pages people have posted in the meantime & give them a go.…

Thanks @thebigcb - My problem is not knowing where to start - and i think people on here doing light weight exercises may have some insight into where a beginner may start. Once I have a starting point, i can try the exercises & see how my body reacts & if it is viable for me to continue as i am well aware of my limits (a…

.Greasy, saucey, insanely yummy tacos.

you can use broth in place of water in pretty much any cooking recipe - if you just want to add a little flavour - freeze your stock in ice cube trays - when frozen, tip into a zip lock bag & pop in the freezer - when you are sweating onion/celery/capsicum/whatever at the beginning of your meals - pop in an icecube or 2 &…
-
If you line your container with your plastic freezer bag - then pour in the stock & freeze - you can pop the stock (frozen in the bag) out like an ice cube & tie the top closed & place it in its now solid - perfectly portioned/sized stackable way into the freezer.... Now you can reuse the container for other things! It is…
-
you could make thai turkey balls - they are smaller than patties and you can eat them as is for a snack - add them through salad for your protein - or use them like you would in a greek yiros style wrap - they are a complete staple here (although we change the mince type around often to give different flavours :) )
-
if i have over eaten (substantially) i will devide the excess calories by 6 & add that smaller amount to the next 6 days as a 'quick calories' - this way, over the week my calories are the deficit i want - but, i dont have to make up the blow out in one day - so it is more manageable & i am less likely to feel hungry the…
-
@mama2redhead - Thats fantastic to hear! I would love to hear how you get on :) For the moment I have seemed to go quite well just restricting them - (not having them daily any more) and having them in small portions when i do - But i know when we come into winter, 'wanting' all of those foods will mean needing some…
-
@Stripeness - Considering how much 'diary envy' I have looking at your days - saying my ideas seem solid is huge, thankyou! I totally agree with not cutting things for the sake of cutting them - especially if i KNOW once I am at 'goal' and happy and healthy, i am likely to want to have these things again. The intolerance…

Thanks @Editorgrrl - I take my thyroxine at night - There are a few studies out now being done which say ti is just as effective (if not more) as taking during the day. I have been doing it for years though - before i knew anything about studies and what not though as my Dr said the most important thing was taking them…
-
@Editorrgrl - Congratulations!!! That's fantastic!!! Well done! I have no doubts I can & will do this :) After having lost 30kg in a sprint - I'm quite happy to lose the rest of my weight at a gentle pace - I have set my deficit for .7kg/week (which is approx 1.5lb) until I am below 100kg (220lb) - as this is the weight my…
-
Thanks @Lisalsd1 - I realise its isnt the Ideal PCOS diet - but, it isn't meant to be, it is meant to be the best parts of both a PCOS & a thyroid diet as I have both metabolic issues to take into account - Which i guess explains some of the anomolies from those who have just one or the other. In explanation/clarification…

@ihodgson - Im so glad you are feeling better and found a nutritionist who is helping you - they are so so hard to find! Was there any reason she recommended a higher carb intake? (the whole carb debated surrounding PCOS really intrigues me!) And do you limit it mainly to 'natural' carbs as opposed to refined ones? Thanks…

@SkimFlatWhite - Thanks So much for your reply! I had a peek at your food diary - It all looks so yummy! Especially the turkey! I'd like to increase my protein at some stage - Am hoping to get a second freezer so we can buy in bulk - which also means we will be able to get pasture raised, organic meat for about $6-$8/kg -…
-
@Bounce - thanks for your suggestion & support, just by commenting! I have had a sticky beak in a few of the threads I have seen on both PCOS or Thyroid issues - unfortunately, the 2 issues are somewhat of a catch 22 situation in how they affect your body & unfortunately, some of the recommended solutions are also a catch…
-
@livingleanlivingclean - Thanks for your reply - especially the comment on fat - as I was wondering if it was 'too much' - but - seems it is easily reached with some avocado & nuts each day & I don't feel that is unhealthy, or unhealthy amounts. I really had No questions as such - I have just been so focused on working out…

Hi there, I had lots to lose & still do - I have PCOS & Thyroid issues - so may be a little different me for you, however i find, the more we have to lose, the more we get that consistent hungry feeling alllllllllllllllll day. My current solution? I plan the whole day on MFP (under all the correct categories) and then let…
-
@Andy-Chow - Thanks for your suggestions. As clarification, I lost 30kgs in 2012 on VLCD - and only 5 kgs in 2013 trying to find a more balanced 'body correcting' eating approach Also, Yes, Dr diagnosed - PCOS at 17, and Thyroid at 21. Heart condition since birth. I am still under Dr supervision - however, GP's are not…

Thanks @Colortheworld - I do intend eating workout calories (or part there of) back at the moment. I think I will wait to get my HRM before allowing myself to eat all calories back though - as im unsure of the margin of error with workout logging :) And thanks for the feedback on 30DS - I think from leading a sedentry life…
