I'm hoping that my kids will start lifting at some point and they'll be wearing t-shirts saying something like: "MY MOTHER DOES LIFT HERE -- RACK YOUR OWN D@MN WEIGHTS"

Workout A yesterday Squats 75 lbs 5x5 Bench 60 lbs 5x5 Rows 75 lbs 5x5 Also did weighted situps (3x12 with a 25 lb plate) on a contraption that looks like a medieval torture device -- sit on some roller things and stick your feet in-between some other rollers. I think it's called a Roman chair, but I'm not sure -- that was…

It looks like a lot of the issue is fat. As rough as that sounds, it is actually a good thing, since you can lose fat, but can't do much about saggy skin. Depending on a lot of variables (your age, how fast the weight went on, how fast it comes off, skin elasticity,...) you may or may not have a lot of saggy skin after you…

LOL. Bionic butt! I'm doing SL, btw. So far, no booty, but I'm working on it!

Welcome to MFP. Congrats on your success so far! I'm also a birder, if you couldn't tell from my profile pic...

I find I'm absolutely ravenous the day after I lift. On higher cardio days, not so much.
-
It's probably mostly water. Try limiting sodium to a reasonable amount and drinking more water.

Unfortunately, I lost my *kitten* as well :\

Workout B today: Squats 5x5 @ 70 lbs OHP (ugh): 2x3@50+2x2@45, 2x4@50+2x1@45, 1x1@50+1x4@45 -- this was actually better than the last time, so there's progress here... DL: 1x5@125 pullups with 34lb assist 5x5, next time I'll do 25lbs assist. Felt good today.

Split workout A between yesterday and today so that I could do legs when they were fresh and then run 70 minutes today. Squats yesterday 5x5 @65 lbs with good form, below parallel. That sounds so wimpy, but I'm getting better and really concentrating on form. BP 5x8 @55 lbs Rows: 5x5 @70 lbs

It's not late until it's 7 days late. That said, the most common cause of a late period is pregnancy.

+1 hot shower edited to correct ! to 1

This sounds very sensible. I'm going to try follow the SL program more faithfully than I've been able to recently and see how that goes. I would like to get stronger and I think I'll take the winter to work on that. It's often hard to get 3 days of lifting in because of the combination of my work schedule and the hours my…

Thanks so much for the response! I've been tracking my input and weight daily for about a month and a half and using rolling 7-day averages for the weight I think my TDEE is between 2200 and 2300, so to gain .25 lb/week I'd eat about 2450-2550 assuming my current level of activity. I could cut back my cardio to decrease…

Hi Steve, I also thought, ugh, another Beachbody "coach" or something when I saw the thread title and then saw your name and was (to channel my 11 year old daughter), like, OMG, I hope he's still here! LOL. I saw your response to the question about recomp for already quite lean women and I was wondering what you think…

Ok. So I'm thinking that I need to 1) eat more and 2) decide whether I'm more interested in getting the six-pack or becoming a better runner. So far I'm not sure but I'm going to try running SL for real and cutting back some on the cardio and see how I feel. That and wrap my head around weight gain being a good thing…

That sounds awesome. Thanks! Can anyone give me some advice about upping my calories to find maintenance faster than I've been doing? I'm really sick of losing weight at this point but I don't want to overshoot, nor do I want to mistake repleting my glucogen stores for gaining fat. This week I cut my long run from 12 miles…
-
Yes, I am still in a deficit. I'm reverse dieting to find out what maintenance is for me. I've been trying to increase calories by about 50 per day per week and cut back on cardio by about the same amount until I find maintenance. Once I find maintenance I think you're probably right that a bulk would be the way to go. I'm…

Trader Joe's has a good pumpkin greek yogurt, too.

@Dope: LOL "unfortunate genetics." Thanks for the feedback!

Not sure why you're worried about replacing sodium. Have your electrolytes been tested and you've been low? Usually the kidneys do a pretty good job regulating sodium.
-
My 7 mile run this morning was a breeze compared to the 12 miler I did last week. Three months ago I never would have thought that 7 miles would be no big deal!

I weigh daily and keep a running average of the weights. It actually helps me to see the day to day fluctuations because I know it's physically impossible to gain 3lbs of fat in one day. So when that happens, I know it's water. If I only weighed once a month I'd have no idea how much water weight was in any given…

Here are some pictures so you can see my upper body definition. @_benjamin: I think you're right that I must have lost quite a bit of lean mass. I'm looking pretty bony in these... Thanks again for the help! ETA: sorry for the poor quality on the last two. I haven't mastered the art of the "back selfie" yet. LOL.

I've been lifting since June, trying to do SL, but not keeping it up very well in the past month for a variety of reasons having to do with work and family scheduling, mostly. I must admit that I love doing cardio, running usually, but some other stuff too; OTOH, I have a hard time getting motivated to lift. I think this…

How do you see your flags? I'm tempted to flag myself just to see what it does...

This is so inspiring! Thank you!

Absolutely love this!

It didn't look like there's anything terribly out of sorts with your diary, though I didn't look at it in any great detail -- might benefit from some more protein, though. It sounds, from what you're describing, like you might to have your vitamin levels checked -- specifically B12, B6, and D, and also your thyroid.…

First, talk to your psychiatrist about the weight gain. It is possible to add medications such as topiramate (Topamax) or metformin to counteract weight gain if there is too much risk with switching from Seroquel to another mood-stabilizing medication. Second, if you are comfortable trying a different medication, ask…
