There is this blog person out there, either fierce fatties or dances with fat, who "ran" (mostly walk. Took them like 13 hours) a marathon and I think they are over 300. I don't advocate their blog, nor do I like them. I find their ideas harmful, specifically the idea that being obese and morbidly obese is not unhealthy.…

Yeah it's semantics, but she did say cancer fighting. The problem I have is that the misinformation that is used in statements like these is what lures people into pyramid schemes. I don't have any problem with people who spend way too much money on an overpriced protein shake with some kale in it, but I do have a problem…

Cancer fighting? Really? Please provide ANY scientific source that says shakeology cures cancer. You are doing more harm than good saying stuff like that.

I guess it depends on where I am in my goals. I would want a fitness instructor who could keep up with me, at least. I don't have any problems with overweight fitness instructors, but I think they can better help people who are also overweight. But I am talking seriously overweight, like 50+ pounds to lose. Not like, has…

Bostonian, born and bred!

Can I do a gallon of coffee milk a day? It's the best form of milk. Scientific fact.

Everyone starts somewhere. As a tall, relatively strong man, I can tell you that I don't judge others at the gym. If I saw you at the gym, I would leave you alone. Unless you were about to hurt yourself, but I would do that for anyone. Nobody else I talk with judges either. I have many friends at the gym: guys who are…

Gojira, specifically their album "From Mars to Sirius." So epic, makes me wicked pumped up.

That's pretty much my goal, but I am a far way from there. Bench: 190, Squat 290, deadlift 320. Need another 200 pounds. Maybe next year? Hopefully.

I was also eating lots of low GI carbs, low fat meat, high fat meat, and natural PB. But no, I bet it was just the GI foods, and not the fact that I ate all the freaking time. Certainly wasn't those times I ate 4 eggs for breakfast every day, or when I grabbed a jar of natural PB and a spoon and ate it straight from the…

The best protein out there is usually Whey protein. Though (slightly more) pricy, it is a higher quality protein overall. A 5 lb tub of Optimum Nutrition or Cellucor can be found for something like $58 on Amazon or bodybuilding.com. And 5 pounds is a LOT of protein powder. It lasts my wife and I several months, and we both…

I agree with everyone else, but if you really want to eat foods with no sugar, that's up to you. Stuff I normally eat when I am low on carbs for the day: Hard boiled Eggs. Cheese. Other meat. My own tears when I realize that there is no such thing as a low carb dessert.

On Thursdays when we have a weekly meeting at work normally we have brownies and cookies, today there was veggies and hummus. Doesn't my work know I am trying to bulk? Why are they attempting to sabotage my bulk? Not cool. THANKS, OBAMA.

Maybe he is salty because he isn't seeing good results from his not-lifting routine? My best guess.

Chelsea lifts has been powerlifting for YEARS, the muscle she built won't happen overnight for you. Go, lift, see good results. Jennifer Aniston doesn't lift. See, the problem is that Hollywood tells women that muscle is gross and they force women to be skinny rather than strong. And if they pick up any sort of weight, you…

Lift heavy, lift often. You are a girl. You won't get bulky. Look up "chelsea lifts." She lifts really quite heavy, her wilks score is probably higher than mine. She doesn't look big, but she still kicks *kitten*. Women don't really get bulky unless they are on PEDs. If you think you look bulky, chances are you got some…

You could also do not-cardio. Lift some weights.

This sounds like a problem with you, not a problem with any of your coworkers. If you don't have the willpower to avoid treats, then you need to get more willpower. The forks, knives, and spoons at work are right next to the dessert at my work. I have to walk past the pizza, fried chicken, ice cream, french fries, onion…

When I started lifting seriously (1 year ago): All measurements in lbs Deadlift - 175 x3 Squat - 195 x5 (though I am like 99% sure I was not doing ATG, or even to parallel) Benchpress - 90 x5 OHP - 50 x2 Now: Deadlift - 315 x2 Squat - 275 x3 (going ATG) Benchpress - 185 x2 OHP - 125 x2 Man... I just realized how far I have…

I actually don't spend >$4 on any meal. I would venture to guess MOST people don't do that. I buy pretty much whatever I feel like (I am lucky enough that I don't have a super strict grocery budget), and between my wife and myself, we spend on average $140 a week on food. This includes more expensive gluten free foods…

Do you know how much of those foods you are getting in each scoop of shakeology? Probably not, considering it is a proprietary blend. They can put almost NONE of those foods in the bad, and still claim it contains them. It's a ripoff. I'm on project ice cream lean. My blood tests have never been better, and I am starting…

You can also be much smaller and still be on roids. Christian Bale is (or at least was) totally on juice. That is the only explanation for his remarkable transformation from The Machinist to The Dark Knight. Also, a ton of powerlifters are on juice. They might have a lot of fat mass, but they also have a lot of muscle…

Stronglifts 5x5 is a great program, as is Starting Strength, Greyskull LP, and 5/3/1. I would probably recommend reading Starting Strength (if you can get through it, it is a little dry), as it is probably the best explanation on how to do the major lifts out there.

This is pretty normal, it is called DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), most people get it when starting a new weight training program, but it eventually goes away. I wouldn't worry, it's just your body adjusting.
-
Nah, that can't be Crossfit, their form is too good :P
-
You can do a program, but you can also buy some dumbbells, some weight plates, maybe a barbell, and go at it that way. Muscle is sexy.

Great article about how to do one here: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/04/25/do-a-pull-up/ Remember, if you are kipping, it doesn't count : )

Questions you need to answer: Why did s/he recommend a cleanse to you? What scientific literature regarding this book did s/he provide you with? What "toxins" are you trying to get rid of? Why are you trying to rid yourself of these specific toxins? Is there something wrong with your kidney and liver? If you don't know the…

It happens to me, but usually around the 5 mile mark. What I personally have found is that the distance I can go before I need to go is directly correlated with how much I have been running. If I run more often, I have to go less often. The less I run, the sooner I get those problems. For instance, last year I was running…

Free weights, by far. I used both. Nothing, absolutely nothing, compares to free weights. If you want to build a decent amount of muscle mass, invest in a barbell, a couple dumbbells, and some weight plates. They are worth the cost.
