  • Just lost my post so retyping... I was diagnosed with occipital neuralgia years ago so I know the pain. I really feel for you! I was very lucky, I worked with a naturopath and a Chiro and managed to get rid of it. The ON comes back whenever I get a viral infection but it rarely lasts more than a couple of weeks at a time.…
  • Thanks for all the input. I'll try some of those apps/sites mentioned
  • I'm just starting to think about maintenance, I'm 40 yo (41 in two weeks), 5'5" and right now at 123. goal weight is 122. started here at 130 so not really 'overweight' but heavier than I have been since my first year of college (aside from pg) and none of my clothes were fitting. also was 'skinny fat' so I'd like to start…
  • yes, the pizza and fries should go. the penne al a vodka was homemade, I entered in my recipe and counted out servings. I get 341 per serving. I did eyeball the 0.1 but it was literally one forkful.
  • could be over estimating my calorie burn, but my treadmill consistently tells me I burned more than MFP. I go with the MFP number. I should get a HR monitor. I never burn much anyway, only have 30 min to exercise, max. could be underestimating my intake, I am not weighing (I do count/measure). but I usually dont eat back…
  • I cant stand yogurt. havent tried the greek yogurt though, is it less tangy than regular? and yesterday was a bad day, I ate lunch really late, snacked on nuts and stupid crackers and then yes, had only a bite of the penne.
  • 122 is magic, I'm telling you. at 122 my calves fit into my boots and my hips match my small top. I'd be ok with 123-5 though, if I knew I could maintain it. you (and everyone else) are probably right about me needing to start lifting. I've got a bazillion reasons why I can't and why I can't meet with a personal trainer…
  • show off ; ) you are probably younger or more active than I am.
  • I thought I had carbs in there...will have a look. I did want to track calcium, if I dont count I tend to take in way too little. I think you are right about weight training, I'm just so afraid to set off my joints. I guess I can start with light weights and see how it goes. thank you.
  • true, I dont get enough protein. I dont feel great when I eat too much animal based proteins and beans are so caloric I've all but given them up. I'll have to find some more protein sources. but I thought it all came down to 'calories in, calories out', why does low protein stall weight loss? and I will try the burst…
  • my main goal is to fit into my clothes. clothes fit best at 122, I'm ok at 124-5. honestly, if I knew I could maintain this I'd be ok, but I keep going up even at 1200 cals. I'm afraid to think of eating more.
  • I'm getting close to my goal weight and starting to think about maintenance. Can you tell me more about 6:1 fasting? I was thinking that some form of IF would work well for me.
  • not true. hormones can wreak havoc on the metabolism. I did not overeat during my pg's (was monitored by my midwife) plus I exercised all the way through. I gain 50+ lb each time. I lost it after each baby but it took a year after each one. I was eating as little as possible to cover my nutritional requirements, I had no…
  • yeah, I'm still waiting for that advice too. we're a family of 7 + my inlaws for the summer. so that's 9 for now. would love to know how to keep my food costs down to $270/week we eat meat/chicken only once/week, and have the puny aforementioned garden and pretty much everything but some condiments are made from scratch at…
  • and oh yeah, wanted to add that we DO have a vegetable garden but so what? for two months we eat fresh tomatoes and cukes. string beans for three months. we get 3-4 months of hot peppers and herbs. and guess what else....start up costs were over $200, compost is not free, nor is water. I'll ignore cost of seeds for now.
  • was in the grocery store with my kids last week (we are lucky enough to live in a part of the US where we have a well stocked local grocery that carries produce) and they each chose a snack. one kid chose a tree ripened nectarine (the regular ones taste like plastic) for $0.59. another kid chose a snack size bag of chips…
  • Three weeks! That's awesome for just three weeks! I've been at this a month and I don't see a difference in my clothes either.
  • For sure! Around the belly and above the knees. Good job!
  • Ok, good to know this is normal. Should I schedule more rest days between? Or just keep going? I probably should drink more water but I think my sodium intake is ok. I doubt I need more than 1200 cal, I'm 40, female, 5'5" and 126 lb. not quite sedentary but not highly active either
  • I've made my own pistachio butter. yummmmm. I love all nut butters, sunflower seed butter is good too. no one else in my family likes any of them though, so its too dangerous to have too many in the fridge. but if you dont like it, don't eat it.
  • my husband eats what I eat, just more of it. I have been cooking two meals for years because my kids are very plain-vanilla types and I try not to eat too much meat/chicken/dairy. my big challenge is to not eat twice, I will usually have a snack before I serve the kids dinner so I'm not hungry. then I eat later with hubby.…
  • I'm new too, tomorrow will be two weeks. I was crazy hungry he first week, this week was much better, I even had some extra calories at the end of the day a few times. And I'm eating 1200. Exercising for food helps too. Hang in there

  • we still get it here. I don't eat the stuff anymore, but my kids put it in hot chocolate. and make rice crispies squares with it. I dont let them eat it for lunch though
  • I like maple syrup in my oatmeal. also its got iron and calcium (little bits, I know, but every bit counts).
  • When I was a kid we had peanut butter and marshmallow fluff on white bread. Fluffernutters I think we called em.
  • Try the trader joes sunflower seed butter. ::::::::yum::::::::
  • this happens to me too, I assumed it was normal and just looks so bad on me because my abs are weak. thanks for asking here, I'm going to try the probiotics. it happens to me no matter what I eat. it can be just some watermelon or a handful of almonds and instantly I look 4 mo pg.
  • right now I'm all about the mushrooms. roast them with some olive oil and sea salt. or add some balsamic vinegar. or grill them. or saute with shallots and toss in some baby bok choy, and a bit of tamari soy sauce. so filling! I also love steamed string beans, and now that I can get some good romaine lettuce that doesnt…
  • I find a pal and we both commit to exercising and report back to each other. I am embarrassed to admit that I didnt so that forces me to exercise. once you get into a groove and see results, that is motivating too. you can do it!
  • I feel much healthier eating as little animal protein as possible. it keeps my fibromyalgia in check, keeps my migraines and neuralgia at bay, and menstrual cramps are a thing of the past. that's why I am trying to go vegan. if I get a bit less protein than recommended, well, I am ok with that.
