  • i'm in! i'm at 217 now and i really want to start out the new year at 199 or below, so this is perfect.
  • plain water? 4-5 cups. but, at work i make tea and i'll usually have 3-4 16oz mugs of it a day.
  • i've always been obese or overweight. i have no idea how much i really want to lose, because i have no idea what i'll look like at 120, 130 or 140. i've always done crash diets and gained more weight back than i'd lost in the first place. it's taken me a couple of tries with MFP over the past few months, but i started with…
  • i wear pretty short dresses and skirts often without issue, but i rarely wear shorts. however, up until about a month ago i worked in a pizza place as a delivery person and i had to give in and start wearing shorts some days, especially with the crazy heat. it would be over 100 degrees in the area where we sat to take…
  • I've noticed that a "bad" day can sometimes re-start my weight loss if I've been stuck at the same weight for a while. I don't really understand it and maybe there are a lot of other factors playing into it so I wouldn't suggest binging one day to break a plateau, but it seems to work for me... for now.
  • Somewhere between 130-145. It depends on how I feel once I hit 145. I was 155 for a quick second in high school but that's the smallest I've ever been, so I have no idea what I will look like at anything below that. My goal is a size 8 or a Medium, so we'll see what I have to do to get there.
  • Where did you get that number for your BMR? It seems very, very low.
  • i love my corgi! he just celebrated his 7th birthday last week :)
  • like others have said, drinking lots of water during the day helps A LOT. i drink tea constantly throughout the day at work and manage to get 8-10 cups in just from 9-5. you might also need to up your calorie intake a bit. when i first started, MFP had me at almost 1200 and i felt terrible- hungry, tired, etc. i figured…
  • i love new friends :) feel free to add me
  • I used to hate the idea of going to the gym and I still prefer to work out at home. It helps to remember that everyone at the gym is there to better themselves, whether they weigh 450lb or 100lb. Everyone is focused on their workout. I rarely pay attention to anyone at the gym unless they're being obnoxious (yelling on the…
  • I'm not an expert by any means, but I always use what the elliptical tells me. MFP is always significantly higher. I would looooove to assume that MFP is right, but I'd rather error on the side of counting too few calories burned.
  • The actual time I eat varies slightly on weekdays but it's almost always in these time windows: 8:30-9:30am breakfast 11:30-1:30pm lunch 6-7pm dinner 10pm small snack On weekends it varies a lot depending on how early or late I wake up, whether or not I'm out of town for work, the schedule of events for work, etc.
  • jack and diet coke or rum and diet coke. it used to be vodka pineapple, but those were almost 200 each. yikes.
  • McDonald's Southwest Chicken Salad is 390 with grilled chicken and dressing. 290 with no dressing. Sometimes I add a side of apple slices, bringing the meal to 405.
  • I'm 23 and have 80-90 to lose. Feel free to add me! I love new MFP friends to keep me motivated and accountable.
  • My best friend and I used to work at an ice cream parlor and because we got free "treats", ice cream became a major staple in our diets. I'm pretty sure I was putting away 2-3 hot fudge brownie sundaes a week, at about 1,300 calories each. We'd usually end up drinking whatever extra was left when we'd make milkshakes. On…
  • I'm always looking for new friends and extra support. I'm 5'4". I started at 241 and I'm at 224 now. My goal is somewhere between 130-145... I'll decide when I get there!
  • i love this! what an awesome way to put it into perspective. congrats on being down 30lbs!
  • You look amazing! Thanks for sharing your story and pictures. Success stories are what keep me going and you're definitely an inspiration.
  • i can't roll my r's or hula hoop. not being able to hula hoop drives me nuts because all of my friends are so good at it!
  • My biggest pet peeve is people who don't hold doors or don't say "thank you" when someone holds the door for them. It drives me INSANE. When people let a door slam closed on my face I will call them out on it. It's the absolute most basic form of being a polite human being with manners.

  • Things like this make me happy that I can't seem to get my hair to grow past my shoulders! I straightened my hair pretty much every day from the time I was 12 to just after I turned 23. I cut it into a bob with lots of layers and leave it curly/wavy now. I put some mousse and curl spray in, dry my hair about halfway with…
  • I cry often but it's usually when I'm overwhelmed and stressed out. I hate that crying is how I react to stress. It's happened a few times in work situations and it's embarrassing... I can't really control it, though.
  • I use cash more often than debit/credit. I have a side job delivering pizzas so I always have cash on me anyway, but I like being able to look in my wallet and see exactly how much I have. It's nice when I'm out at the bar, too... If I open a tab, I lose track after a few drinks and end up spending way more than I want to.…
  • He sounds like a jerk. You can drop a few pounds by getting rid of a sandbag like him.
  • I'll never understand people who talk on the phone while they're on cardio machines. I was always under the impression that if you're able to talk a lot, you're not working hard enough... Plus, these people always seem to have to YELL into their phones.
  • I didn't really think of this until you said it, but I started babysitting for families in my neighborhood (that I didn't always necessarily know very well) just before I turned 12. It's funny that I was allowed to care for people's children for a couple of years before I was allowed out in public on my own...
  • I'm not a parent, but as far as I recall, I was not allowed to wander the mall without one of my parents somewhere at the mall until I was 14/going into my freshman year of high school. We used to have a library branch in our mall so my dad would go and read there for an hour or so while I walked around with my friends. I…
  • bump. I've been wondering about this, too.
